The Organic Farmers' Market of Ottawa
Saturdays, 10 am - 2 pm, Heron and Bank, behind Canadian Tire, in the Canada Care Building. The market provides exclusively organic products from vegetables, meats, herbs, breads and pasteries, to oils, skin care products and more. Growers and producers are locally based and are practitioners of sustainable organic farming, sustainability, bio-diversity and truly natural food. Parking is free.

 

Ottawa Chamber Orchestra 20th Anniversary Gala
Saturday January 26, 8 pm, Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper St.
Music by Dvorak and Brahms.  Canadian premiers - Rhapsodie on a Theme of a Gregorian Easter Chant for Harp and Orchestra, Morceau de Concert for Harp and Orchestra and Andrew Ager Suite from The Wings of Dove.  Donnie Deacon, conductor; Julie Nesrallah, mezzo soprano; Caroline Leonardelli, harp; Harmonia Men's Choir and Tone Cluster Men's Choir.  MC is Laurence Wall.  Tickets are available at the door, or at the Leading Note.  $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $10 for students. Old Fashioned Barn Dance Fundraiser 
Saturday January 26, 8:30 pm - 12:30 am, The Drummond Building, 22 Ryan Street, Spencerville.  The Drummond Building, located on the George Drummond Memorial Grounds, serves as an Emergency Evacuation Shelter in case of emergency in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township. This dance is a fund-raiser to support this important project. Hosted by the Spencerville Agricultural Society. Tickets are $20 per person or $30 per couple at the door.     
   
Storybook Magic by Majinx
Sunday January 27, 2 pm, Almonte and District High School.
On Stage for Kids is presenting Storybook Magic by Majinx.  Explore magic tricks and illusions from your favorite children's stories. Tickets are $10 at the door. Come out and bring the family to a great show in a relaxed atmosphere where kids can be kids.

Announcements - Sat Jan 19

Family Dance
Sat Jan 19, 3:30 pm - 5 pm, Churchill Recreation Centre, 345 Richmond Rd.
Family Dance is a community dance experience for all ages. There will be fun, simple dances from Canada, the US and Britain danced to live music. All dances are taught -no experience is necessary. Please bring indoor shoes.  Cost is $10 for adults and free for youth 16 and under. THe programme is presented in English.

 

Theatre Wakefield Presents Honky Tonk Blue - The Night Patsy Met Hank
Sat Jan 19, 7:30 pm, Wakefield La PĂȘche Community Centre, 38 Valley Drive, Wakefield.
Honky Tonk Blue is a musical about a star-crossed meeting between a young Patsy Cline, just beginning her climb toward becoming the queen of country music, and country's broken king, Hank Williams, just days before his death.   Theatre Wakefield is thrilled to be hosting this fundraising event on behalf of the Wakefield Youth Sports Pad Fund.  Tickets are $15 and available online


MERA Presents Harpist Sharlene Wallace
Sun Jan 20, 2 pm, MERA Schoolhouse in MacDonald's Corners.
Harpist Sharlene Wallace will be presenting a wide range of music on her celtic and classical harps, as well as a unique insider's view of the instruments and their histories. Her program promises to be one of beauty, inspiration and fun as she has a wonderful sense of humour.  Sharlene is both a classical harpist and one of Canada's most prolific and influential Celtic harp players.  Tickets are $25 and are available online, by telephone (613) 485-6434 or in person at Jo's Clothes, 39 Foster Street in Perth,  or at the door. Teenagers are free.

 

Second Annual Art Child
Sat Jan 27, 12 - 7 pm, Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Ave.
Art Child is a one day art festival that fosters the development of the arts by providing free workshops to children of all ages in a wide range of art forms. Workshops will include film, arts and crafts, dance, singing, photography, cooking, hair styling and more. There will also be a teen fashion show, art exhibit and live performances.
