Summer Market Must-Haves!

Summer Market Must-Haves!

We've paired everyone's favourite summer produce with Stefano's delicious recipes, so that when you're at the market you'll know just what to do with all that corn that's so fleeting, and those extra berries you just couldn't turn down.

Zucchini
Whether growing or buying, people often end up with a glut of zucchini on their hands at some point in the summer. Which is just fine since they're as versatile as they are tasty. Add them raw to salad and pasta, sauté them, or turn them into pancakes! And don't forget about their delicious blossoms--get them while you can.

Corn
Summer just isn't summer without corn-on-the-cob. We love it off the cobb too. Try spicing up your corn cookout with any one of Stefano's delicious grilled corn recipes, perfect for barbecuing on a warm summer night.

Cucumbers
They're available year-round, but when are they ever more refreshing? Cooling cucumbers can be added to just about any salad, adding crunch to delicate ones and standing up to salads for potlucks or work-week lunches since they won't wilt in minutes under dressing.

Blueberries
In the winter, coming from far, far away, blueberries can taste like water. How exciting to have them bursting with flavour right now. They're a popular staple at any farmer's market, so whether you get tiny, wild ones or huge, round ones, just get 'em!

Watermelon
Of course we can't forget about watermelon. Sweet, light and refreshing, watermelon is definitely one of our favourite summer fruits. Tomatoes
Nothing says summer like fresh, ripe tomatoes. Most of us wait all year for them to be at their peak in late summer. Stefano has loads of recipes that call for this juicy ingredient but perhaps our favourite is the one that lets us enjoy their summer flavour year-round...his family's purée!
