While it's not uncommon to see aromatic and colourful mangoes year-round in grocery stores, it's during the spring time when some of the most prized varieties begin to peak. The California and Florida harvest starts in May and runs until September, while other varieties like Alphonso mangoes are imported from India around the same time (these create quite a stir for their short, three-month season).
So now that you're looking forward to picking up some mangoes, how are you going to use them? While they're delicious just on their own, they're also equally fantastic tossed into a salad, in a smoothie, or diced up and added to a condiment for tacos or grilled fish. Stefano also has this Green Mango Salad recipe which uses unripe mangoes, to tide you over until the next juicy shipment comes in.
