Lighter Tartar Sauce with Basil

Light on fat but not flavour, this tangy tartar sauce is made with low fat mayonnaise, capers, gherkins, garlic and lots of fresh basil.


INGREDIENTS

1 cup low fat mayonnaise
1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 to 2 tsp. capers, chopped
2 to 3 gherkins, chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 tbsp. chopped shallot
Squeeze of lemon juice
2 tbsp. chopped basil
Hot sauce, to taste
Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste


PREPARATION

Add low fat mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, capers, gherkins, garlic, shallot, lemon juice, basil, hot sauce, and salt and pepper to a small bowl. Stir to combine. Taste and adjust for seasoning.



Yield: About 1 1/4 cup.
