Made with spring roll wrappers, these Sweet Fried Banana Rolls are perfect for a quick weeknight dessert.
3 large bananas, ripe but firm, peeled and cut in 1/2
6 spring roll wrappers
Chocolate hazelnut spread
Icing sugar, to taste
1 egg white, beaten
Vegetable oil or peanut oil, for frying
Ice cream, for serving
Toasted shredded coconut, for garnishing
Raspberries, for garnishing
You can fill the banana rolls with whatever filling you prefer, peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut spread or cream cheese. For the cream cheese filling, sweeten with icing and flavour with allspice.
Spread about 1 tbsp. desired filling onto bottom third of spring roll wrapper. Add 1/2 banana on top of filling. Fold in corners and roll like burrito or spring roll. Seal edges a little beaten egg white.
Pour enough oil to come 2 to 3-inches up the sides of the pan. Heat oil to 350 degrees F. Shallow fry bananas until golden, about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to paper towel, to absorb excess oil.
Serve with scoop of ice cream. Garnish with toasted coconut and raspberries.
