Green Onion Buttermilk Dressing

Creamy and tangy, this Green Onion Buttermilk Dressing is a great addition to crisp salad greens or use as a dip for vegetables.


Green Onion Buttermilk Dressing
1/2 cup plain yogurt (full fat)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tsp. lemon zest
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
Pinch cayenne, or to taste
4 green onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp. chopped chives
2 tsp. finely chopped capers
Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup buttermilk

Iceberg and Blue Cheese Salad
Iceberg lettuce, cut into wedges or slices
Handful cherry tomatoes, sliced in half
1 avocado, diced
4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
2 green onions, chopped, for garnish
1 tbsp. chives, chopped, for garnish


Green Onion Buttermilk Dressing
Add yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon zest, Dijon, cayenne, green onions, chives and capers to a bowl. Whisk to combine. Whisk in 1/2 cup buttermilk. For a thinner dressing, add more buttermilk. Season with salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning. Pour dressing over Iceberg and Blue Cheese Salad, any crisp salad greens or use as a dip for vegetables.

Iceberg and Blue Cheese Salad
Plate iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, blue cheese and avocado. Drizzle with Green Onion Buttermilk Dressing and garnish with chives and green onions.

Yield: About 1 1/4 cups.
