This simple and elegant dessert showcases fresh strawberries, the Italian way, with a drizzle of aged balsamic vinegar.
1 quart strawberries, hulled, whole if small or sliced
1/4 cup sugar, or to taste
Good quality aged balsamic vinegar or Balsamic Reduction
Pinch of freshly ground pepper, to finish (optional)
Mint, to finish (optional)
Add strawberries and sugar to a bowl. Toss to combine. Let marinate for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add strawberries to serving dishes. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Finish with a pinch of freshly cracked black pepper and mint, if desired.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
