Broccolini with Lemon & Capers

Serve this zesty side dish with baked pasta, grilled fish or a rich meat ragu. If you can't find broccolini, use broccoli florets instead.


2 bunches broccolini
3 tbsp. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped
Hot peppers in oil, to taste (optional)
1 tbsp. capers
2 tsp. lemon zest
Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Juice of 1/2 lemon


Add broccolini to boiling salted water. Cook until tender crisp, about 3 minutes. Drain.

Meanwhile, heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Add garlic, hot peppers and capers and sauté for 1 minute. Add broccolini, lemon zest, and salt and pepper. Cook until broccolini is tender and heated through, about 3 to 5 minutes. Sprinkle with a little lemon juice and serve immediately.

Yield: 6 servings.
