Winter blues creeping in? Throw a cocktail party! It's casual, fun and great excuse to get everybody out of hibernation in the cold months still ahead.
The great thing about a cocktail party is that you can make it a fancy or as casual as you want, and choose a menu accordingly. Sometimes it's the simple, finger foods that are the most elegant, like oysters or olives. Comfort foods are popular at family meals but also at parties--sliders and pies have never been more in vogue! Casseroles and pies are perfect in cool weather and most can be made ahead, sliced into bite-sized servings and served at room temperature, which makes them the perfect make-ahead item for your party. Dips fall into that category too--just remember to let them come up to room temperature if they've been refrigerated. Set everything out half an hour early so you sit back and "taste-test" the house cocktail your serving!
Reward your guests for heading out in the cold with any of Stefano's recipes below. Cheers!
