Impress dinner guests with this fancy dessert made with fresh strawberries, Italian lemon liqueur and fluffy whipped cream.
1 pound strawberries
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 cup limoncello
1 cup mascarpone
About 2 tbsp. to 3 tbsp. whipping cream (35%)
Lemon zest, for garnish
Lady fingers, for serving
Fresh mint or basil chopped, for garnish (optional)
Wash and hull the strawberries. In a medium bowl, add strawberries, lemon juice, 2 tbsp. sugar and limoncello. Stir to combine. Cover and marinate in fridge, about 30 minutes.
Add whipping cream to mascarpone and stir until smooth and creamy. Sweeten with a little sugar to taste, if desired.
Spoon the strawberry mixture into glasses or serving dishes. Top with a dollop of the mascarpone cream. Garnish with lemon zest, lady fingers and freshly chopped mint or basil.
