What do Italians do when life gives them lemons? They make Limoncello of course!
Limoncello is a deliciously sweet lemon liqueur, made by steeping lemon zest in vodka and aging it. Once the vodka's deeply infused with lemon flavour, a simple syrup is added. The final product is served chilled as a "digestive", or after-dinner drink.
Look for Limoncello in the Italian section of any well-stocked liquour store. Store it in the freezer so it's always cold and ready to serve. And get creative by using it as a dessert ingredient. Pour it over cake or ice cream - or try it in Stefano's delicious Strawberries and Limoncello recipe. Salute!
