Transform store-bought tortilla chips into something a little more delicious, with an easy to make lime-salt and some freshly squeezed lime.
Zest of 4 limes
¾ cup sea salt
Lime-Flavoured Tortilla Chips
About 8 cups unsalted tortilla chips
1 tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 tsp. lime salt, or to taste
Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine lime and salt. Sprinkle evenly on prepared baking sheet. Bake lime salt until zest dries out but doesn’t brown, about 10 to 15 minutes. Let cool completely. Store in airtight container. Use lime salt to season tortilla chips, fish, chicken, soups and salads. Makes about ¾ cup.
Spread tortilla chips evenly on large baking sheet. Sprinkle with a little lime juice. Bake until heated through, crisp and golden, about 5 to 7 minutes. Immediately season with 1 tsp. lime salt or to taste. Serve chips warm.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
