In 1940 ,the same year that Quebec women got the vote , the celebrated violinist and conductor pulled together a rag-tag group of women who loved to play music. Within months, she conducted their first concert on the top of Montreal's Mount Royal. Just 7 years later they were at Carnegie Hall.
