Tales of a Travelling Man

Bernie Howgate has cycled around the world and in 1990, he wrote his first book of many. It was called Tales of a Travelling Man. He decided to become a travelling salesman - for his own books. He's currently going door to door selling his book in the Maritimes. The CBC's Mark Leger spoke with Howgate in Quispamsis.

John Ferguson On Defamation Trial

The city of Saint John's pension board tried to sue John Ferguson for defamation.  They were unsuccessful, but yesterday a judge ruled they don't have to pick up Ferguson's 2.5 million dollar legal bill. Ferguson talks about the months of legal proceedings and what he thinks will be next.

First Steps Celebrating Ten Years in Saint John.

A program that helps pregnant and parenting young women in Saint John is celebrating ten years of service. First Steps provides a home and education program for young mothers. It has served 260 women and children in the past decade. Sharon Amirault is the executive director of First Steps.

CBC Wants Oland Case Search Warrants Opened

A judge granted a temporary extension of an order sealing search warrants until a hearing later this month. The crown will argue the warrants should remain sealed. Both the CBC and the Telegraph Journal are trying to keep that from happening. David Coles is their lawyer.

American Lawyer Fighting Canada Border Services

Deborah Butler was on her way to a family reunion last July when she  was stopped at the border in St. Stephen and told she'd have to pay duty on liquor she was bringing into Canada. Worried she'd miss the ferry to Digby, she planned to pay the duty on her way back and left. She says her reception when she returned two weeks later was anything but friendly.
