When you photograph a person with a flash, you might get 'red eye' but if photograph your dog, you might get 'blue eye'. Why is that?

Human eyes dilate in dim light so the flash from the camera hits the retina, which is full of blood vessels and reflects red. Most dogs have a layer of crystals at the back of their eyes which reflect green or blue.
