Tara's picks for the weekend

This weekend marks a number of festivals, including href="">Culture Days, a nationwide
event gathering arts events in every province. Indulge in little
cross-sections of stuff like a Symphony Nova Scotia performance (noon
on Fri), acting at Neptune (noon on Sat) and Pop Goes the Easel at the
Art Gallery of Nova Scotia on Sun (1:30), where you get to make music
in a petting zoo after! (!!!)

If you're in the Valley area this weekend--or were thinking you should
go watch the leaves change--the annual href="">Deep Roots Music Festival is
on in Wolfville, featuring many artists including David Myles, Coco
Love Alcorn, Laura Smith
and Keith Mullins.

Closer to home the city's href=">Hopscotch Festival, a
celebration of hip-hop culture, runs all weekend long. On Friday catch
The Caravan, DJ IV, Universal Soul and Ria Mae at the
Marquee; Saturday on the Halifax waterfront starting at 5 there's a
breakdancing competition followed by a performance from The Cool
, a duo from Chicago and Detroit; and in Hell's Kitchen on
Saturday there's a Silent Disco--the music is pumped through provided
headphones--with Dezza, Tommy Knuckles, Jules Bangsworth, Plaeboi,
Pineo, Dj Dollar, Byrd, The Trillionaires
and Zora The
, T-woo in Hell's Kitchen
