The Cape Breton Partnership, in co-operation with Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation and World Trade Centre Atlantic, is hosting a conference on May 15 & 16, 2012 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The two day conference entitled Opportunity India: Global opportunities with India's Maritime Sector will feature prominent speakers from India's Business, Port and Shipping industries.

Dalhousie's College of Continuing Education in partnership with Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations will be holding a free workshop to inform people about how you can get more involved in your municipality. This workshop will be of interest to those who are thinking about becoming a municipal councillor, want to get involved in other ways or just want to learn more about how their government works.

There will be a workshop on Friday April 20th at NSCC Strait Area Campus, Port Hawkesbury, from 6pm-9pm. No registration is required and the workshop is open to all members of the public. Our website www.ns-municipal-elections.ca elaborates on the material that will be covered as well as other workshop dates and locations.

Dr. Dennis Raphael, a professor of Health Policy and Management at York University in Toronto who focuses on the health effects of income inequality and poverty, the quality of life of communities and individuals, and the impact of government decisions on Canadians' health and well-being, will be speaking at CBU from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, April 20 in the Sydney Credit Union Room (CE265).  His presentation, Varying Conceptions of Population Health, will focus on implications for research and public policy as it relates to population health.

 The Cape Breton branch of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia is offering a six week family caregiver education series at the Alderwood Guest Home in Baddeck. It begins April 23 and runs through May 28. Sessions take place from 6:30-8:30 pm. The program is free but you need to pre-register by calling 295-2644 ext. 224.

Each month, a "Women In Business" luncheon is held in a different community in Cape Breton. There is a volunteer guest speaker for each luncheon, and the cost is the amount of the meal - totally non-profit.

It is a networking and information session for women in business across the island.
