HOT TYPE WITH EVAN SOLOMON TRAVELS TO NEW ORLEANS FOR SPECIAL AUDIENCE WITH THE GRAND DAME OF GOTHIC FANTASY ANNE RICE ON CBC NEWSWORLD OCTOBER 29

Bisexual vampires. Erotic witches. Since the 1976 debut of her famed book, "Interview With A Vampire", ANNE RICE has infused New Orleans with her seductive fantasies and cast a spell on readers with immortal characters like the Vampire Lestat. Two years ago, Rice suffered her first bout of writer's block triggered by a diabetic coma but now she's back with her 21st novel "Merrick".

HOT TYPE with EVAN SOLOMON travels to the Big Easy for a rare Halloween interview with the grand dame of gothic fantasy on Sunday, October 29 at 7pmET.

Evan Solomon speaks with Anne Rice in her New Orleans mansion. They discuss her reconciliation with the Catholic church; her intense grief over the loss of her daughter in 1972; her son Christopher Rice coming out of the closet (his first book "Destiny of Souls" is on the best seller's list) and her sense that she is a gay man in a woman's body. She also talks about her long relationship with the Vampire Lestat and proudly admits to being a pornographer.

Anne Rice, who has sold over 100 million copies of her books, is currently signed to a 17 million-dollar deal with Knopf. Featuring many recurring characters from her previous novels (including a cameo by the Vampire Lestat), "Merrick" is the story of a female witch who helps to resurrect Claudia, a dead vampire killed in Interview "With A Vampire". In 1992, "Interview with A Vampire" was made into a movie directed by Neil Jordan starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
