Earth Day Jazz

In the spirit of Earth Day, we're digging up some fine music inspired by the planet.

From Christine and Ingrid Jensen to Fraser McPherson and Renee Rosnes, BC jazz artists find many ways to celebrate the wonder of our natural world.

We'll share some of it this Saturday afternoon on Hot Air for jazz that treads lightly upon the earth.

April in Paris

Paris-hat_new.jpgWe pay a visit to the City of Light.
Our tour guide is Barbara Jo McIntosh, author of "Cooking for Me and Sometimes You: A Parisienne Romance with Recipes".
She's just returned from Paris, where she drank in the sights and sounds. She'll give us a taste of the good life, through music.

Barbara-jo kindly sent us a recipe from her Paris memoir. It's for Pan Roasted Rib Eye Steak with Roquefort and Red Pepper Butter

Margaret's Fluevog boots!

MGboots_160.jpgLast spring we featured Vancouver footwear designer John Fluevog on the show. His unique shoes have jazzed up wardrobes for over a quarter of a century. He shared a few of his jazz gods and goddesses, right around the time of his retrospective at the Museum of Vancouver.

Last Thursday (7 April) John Fluevog was back at the Museum of Vancouver for their current exhibit, Sweaterlodge Unlatched, by Stephanie Robb and Bill Pechet. It's a giant orange polarfleece sweater, hanging across the ceiling like an orange coloured sky.
Adding to this uniquely Vancouver art installation, Fluevog created a one of a kind pair of boots made from leather and orange polar fleece. Written on the sole..."A Thankful Person is a Happy Person".

Margaret is happy and thankful to be named the guardian to this little piece of Vancouver history.
