Unions and strike costs

Today, the province announced it will charge the union representing provincial employees for the costs of their 5 day strike. The government estimates that hiring backfill workers and paying overtime cost about 1.3 million dollars a day. This afternoon, six Alberta unions are protesting the province's demand that the AUPE cover these costs. Elisabeth Ballermann is the President of the Health Sciences Association of Alberta.
