The Calgary Stampede is celebrating its 100th anniversary and here on The Homestretch we are bringing you some great Stampede stories. Aritha van Herk, a professor of literature and creative writing at the University of Calgary, a novelist, and the author of Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta, brings us the story from 1919 of a small World War One bi-plane  landing at the midway.
