South Sudan

Some Calgarians were celebrating the birth of the world's newest country this past weekend. On Saturday, the African nation of South Sudan formally declared independence from the North. People in South Sudan voted overwhelming last fall in a referendum for independence. The referendum was held under the terms of a peace agreement that ended more than thirty years of civil war. Guest host Frank Rackow speaks with Kuir Garang a youth settlement worker in Calgary. He is originally from South Sudan and he voted in favour of indpendence for the country of his birth.
