Brian says "The two photos are from my trip into New Guinea looking for birds of paradise.....I would wander into a village and pull out my bird book, and before I knew it, kids would go running into their huts to get their dad's traditional head gear festooned with birds of paradise feathers."

National Geographic Live at the Epcor centre will feature Cornell researchers, Tim Laman (photographer) and Edwin Scholes (evolutionary biologist) on March 12, 2013. The pair just completed some 8 years and 18 expeditions into the forests of New Guinea, and have seen all 39 species of Birds of Paradise which is an exceptional feat of endurance.
