Today the American Academy of Pediatrics published a report saying kids should not drink energy drinks.
 ...things like Red Bull or Monster.
 And only rarely -- if ever -- consume sports drinks...like Gatorade or Powerade.

And the rain is expected to continue off and on throughout the weekend.
Officials says that will raise water levels in the Richelieu River and Lake Champlain.

The Canadian National Brain Bee

She will be at MacMaster University in Hamilton this Saturday to compete against some of the smartest kids in the nation at the Canadian National Brain Bee.
The winner will get a summer internship with a neurologist and a chance to represent Canada at the International Brain Bee competition in Florence, Italy on July 16

A 180-million-dollar project to redevelop the Old Port was announced today.
Part of that money will be going to build a new public beach near the clock tower in Old Montreal...

GEORGES LARAQUE

The sports world is still reeling over the death of Derek Boogaard.
The 28 year-old died Friday.
Boogaard was an enforcer with the New York Rangers.
He was out for the season because of a concussion and shoulder injury.
The cause of death is still unknown.
Former Habs enforcer Georges Laraque was friends with Derek Boogaard.

The Space Shuttle Endeavour took off Today.
This is the second to last shuttle launch for the U.S. space program, and one of the people on board is a former Montrealer.

Baseball

Professional baseball could be coming back to Montreal.
No, not major league baseball, but maybe a franchise in the Can-am league in which the Quebec City Capitales
have been wildly successful.
A number of big baseball names are interested in the revival including Cy Young pitcher Eric Gagne,
and former Expos owner Mark Routtenberg.

Cycling in Montreal

A 56-year-old Montreal man is in serious condition after slamming into the open door of a parked car.
It happened at the corner of Wiseman and Van Horne yesterday afternoon.
Incidents like this are commonly known as 'dooring.'
Police say the cyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Jolène Riendeau

Montreal police have revealed the exact location where the remains of Jolene Riendeau were found.
It's under a bridge...on the Montreal side of the span to Nun's Island.
The spot is about 3 kilometers from where the 10-year-old was last seen in April 1999.

Jolène Riendeau

 
Montreal police have found the remains of Jolene Riendeau.
The 10 year old went missing in April 1999.
She was last seen eating chips outside a depanneur near her home in Pointe-St. Charles.
Investigators say they believe Jolene Riendeau was murdered and they are close to making an arrest.
Andre Bouchard is a retired homicide detective who worked the case
