January 12, 2011 is the one-year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti.
Web journalist Tanya Birkbeck spoke to two Haitian Montrealers: Luck Mervil and Georges Laraque. Luck is a writer and musician, and Georges is a former NHLer.
Both have projects to help rebuild Haiti. Luck's project Vilaj Vilaj aims to build housing for people who lost their homes in the earthquake. Georges has been raising money to rebuild the Grace Children's Hospital in Port-au-Prince through the National Hockey League Players' Association's Hockey for Haiti program.
Tanya asked them to tell her about one of their favourite places in Haiti that hasn't been destroyed by the earthquake. Their answers were surprisingly similar.
