ROBIN BROWN: The Cypher hip hop open mic night
You've heard of open-mic nights for aspiring stand up comics. But what about for rappers - wanna be hip-hop artists? Well, there's an event that goes on once a month in Toronto and it's all about up and coming rappers - or MCs as they call them. The event is called The Cypher and it's the brainchild of a group of like-minded artists in Toronto's underground hiphop community. Youth columnist Robin Brown went out to their last open-mic night, at Augusta House in Kensington Market to hear their music, and listen to their stories.
