Meet the Crew

Debbie Cooper - Host

Debbie CooperDebbie has been the face of CBC Television news in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1989. First, as co-anchor of the popular local supper hour news program, Here & Now and in 2000, as the anchor for CBC News: Canada Now.

Prior to her role as host, Debbie held a number of journalistic positions, including News and Current Affairs Reporter for CBC Radio and Television.

Debbie is a graduate of Memorial University with a B.A. in Psychology. She has moderated provincial leadership debates, provided live on-site budget coverage and hosted numerous events such as the CBC Newsworld Documentary Film Festival and the Atlantic Journalism Awards in Halifax. In 1998, Debbie was the recipient of an Atlantic Journalism Award.

Debbie is currently the host of Newfoundland and Labrador's supper hour new program, CBC News: Here & Now.


Jonathan Crowe - Host

Jonathan CroweJonathan Crowe was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He has a degree in political science and history from McGill University.

In 1984, he began casual work at the CBC as a production assistant in the sports department in Montreal. Three years later, he moved to St. John's to take a job as the sports host/reporter on the regional supper hour show, Here and Now.

Jonathan has worked as a current affairs reporter, the regional justice reporter and as a political reporter. He's also contributed to The Sports Journal and Land & Sea. Jonathan's work has taken him to places as diverse as Montana and Iceland.

In 1997, he picked up a camera and became a video journalist. He's just finished a four-year stint with CBC's digital channel Country Canada where he was a producer and host with the program Food Chain.

In November 2005, Jonathan became co-host on Newfoundland and Labrador's supper hour program CBC News: Here & Now.


Ryan Snoddon - Weather Specialist

Ryan SnoddonBaling hay, mucking stalls and forecasting the Weather, it's what Ryan Snoddon was born to do. And, being raised on a beef farm in Pefferlaw, Ontario, Ryan certainly has experience at all three.

He left the farm and headed for Belleville, Ontario, where he attended the Broadcast Journalism program at Loyalist College. From there, Ryan managed to land a job as a Morning show Co-host on the Wolf 101.5 in Peterborough, Ontario.

Ryan's break into the weather world came in 2006 when he landed the Weather Specialist position at CHEX TV in Peterborough, where he enjoyed forecasting heat waves, thunderstorms and snow storms for Central Ontario. However, when the chance to forecast the Weather, in one of the stormiest and most beautiful places on earth, Newfoundland and Labrador, came up, he jumped at it.

Krysta Rudofsky

Krysta RudofskyKrysta Rudofsky is one of the newest members of the CBC News: Here & Now team.

Prior to joining CBC Television, Krysta hosted and produced a popular community cable program. She is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the Horizon Award for Lifetime Achievement under age 35, Alumni Tribute Award from MUN and Media Person of the Year 2004, from the MIA of NL.





Deanne Fleet

Deanne FleetDeanne Fleet is an award-winning, veteran TV journalist. Born in Kilbride, NL, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University and a Masters of Journalism degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Over the past two decades she has worked on CBC programs ranging from CBC News: Here and Now to the Fifth Estate.

Her peers have recognized Deanne as one of this province's most accomplished documentary makers.



Jane Adey

Jane AdeyJane Adey is the host of CBC News: Here & Now Late Night.

Jane graduated with a degree in Journalism from Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto in 1998. That education followed her BA at Memorial University where she studied English and French.

In 2001, Jane jumped at the chance to join the news team at CBC. Since then, she has covered stories for radio and television as a Reporter and Video-Journalist in just about every nook and cranny of the province. Jane is passionate about storytelling and has had the pleasure of working on several documentaries for Land & Sea.




Azzo Rezori

Azzo RezoriAzzo Rezori describes himself as a Euro-mutt who grew up stateless in post-war Europe with an Italian name, a German mother, and a Romanian-born father of Austrian origin. He says this background has given him a life-long appreciation for the positive sides of confusion.

He finished high school in Rome and studied zoology in Dublin and journalism at the University of Western Ontario.

He rates St. John's as by far his best accidental arrival anywhere.



David Cochrane

David CochraneDavid Cochrane is Provincial Affairs Reporter for CBC News: Here and Now. Born in St. John's, he earned Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Since 1998, David has worked for CBC Television and CBC Radio primarily covering provincial politics.

David covers the House of Assembly and appears on a political panel on Thursdays on CBC News: Here and Now. He is also a regular contributor to Politics with Don Newman on CBC Newsworld.


Glenn Payette

Glenn PayetteGlenn Payette is a videojournalist whose primary beat is Justice. Essentially, he's a one-man band doing his own reporting, camera work and editing. Glenn was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has a degree in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson Polytechnical University in Toronto, and a degree in journalism from the University of King's College in Halifax.

As well as covering court and legal issues, he has also covered politics, labour, health, and done many human interest stories. Glenn appears nightly on Here and Now. He also can be seen nationally on CBC Newsworld and regularly reports for CBC Radio One.

Recently, Glenn won the Excellence in Journalism Award from the Newfoundland and Labrador Branch of the Canadian Bar Association.
