CONTEST RULES

The Heartland 100,000 Fans Giveaway (“Contest”)

from December 22, 2011 to January 8, 2012 (“Contest Period”)

1. TO ENTER

To enter the The Heartland 100,000 Fans Giveaway, you must complete the official entry form on the CBC website at www.cbc.ca/heartland/contest/index.html, indicating the month and day you think the Heartland Facebook page (at http://facebook.com/cbcHeartland) will reach 100,000 fans.

To be valid, all entries must be received by 11:59PM EST, Sunday January 15th, 2012.

Limit of one entry per person/household for the duration of the contest. Only one valid email address may be used to participate in the contest even if contestant owns or holds more than one email address. Entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programming, or any other automated means are prohibited and will be disqualified. Any person attempting to participate more than once using such means will be eliminated and all entries received from this person will be declared inadmissible.

No purchase required. The odds of winning the prize are directly related to the number of eligible entries received and the date on which the Heartland Facebook page reaches 100,000 fans.

2. ELIGIBILITY

Parent or guardian consent is required to enter this contest if contestant is a minor. Employees of CBC, Heartland and their affiliates, as well as their immediate family (father/mother, brother/sister, son/daughter) or persons living under the same roof are not eligible to enter this contest.

3. PROCEDURE FOR AWARDING PRIZES

On the date that the Heartland Facebook page reaches 100,000 fans (as of Eastern Standard time), the entrant who selected that date will win the prize, subject to meeting the eligibility requirements and correctly answering the skill-testing question. If more than one entry identifies the correct date, a random draw will be held from all correct entries received during the Contest Period. If the Heartland Facebook page does not reach 100,000 fans by June 30, 2012, a random draw will be held from all entries received during the Contest Period.. Winner will be contacted by e-mail and should respond no later than 3 days after the date they are initially contacted. If winner cannot be reached within this period, declines the prize or does not correctly answer the skill-testing question, a new draw will be held. Following receipt by CBC of all release documents duly signed by the winner, arrangements will be mutually agreed upon to schedule the prize.

4. DESCRIPTION OF PRIZE(S)

A 15-minute video chat with Amber Marshall. Time, date, and service used to be mutually agreed upon, subject to the technical options available to CBC/Heartland.

No cash value.

5. GENERAL RULES

5.1 To be declared a winner, the contestant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.

5.2 The winner, or their parent or guardian if the winner is a minor, shall agree, if necessary, to have their name and/or picture, including their photograph, and/or their voices used for advertising purposes related to this contest, free of charge.

5.3 The winner, or their parent or guardian if they are a minor, shall sign a document attesting to their eligibility as stipulated in paragraph 2 of these rules and releasing CBC, Heartland, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize.

5.4 The prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged for an amount of money, nor sold nor transferred. No substitutions will be allowed.

5.5 If the prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, CBC, Heartland, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, reserve the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value.

5.6 Refusal to accept the prize as offered releases CBC, Heartland, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, of any obligation toward the winner.

5.7 Should winners make any false statement, they shall be automatically disqualified from the contest.

5.8 CBC, Heartland, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, shall assume no liability resulting from losses, delays, mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail received, typographical errors, technical, computer or telephone malfunctions, loss or theft of computer or telephone data, damage to software or computer equipment, fraudulent calls or any other mistake.

5.9 CBC, Heartland, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, shall assume no liability whatsoever for any situation in which their inability to act results from an event or situation beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used to hold this contest

5.10 All personal information, such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and age is collected solely for the purposes of administering this contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used for the stated purposes.

5.11 By entering, contestants agree to abide by the contest rules that shall be applied by the CBC. All its decisions are final. CBC reserves the right to amend this contest including these contest rules, including extending the deadline for entries, at any time without notice or liability.
