Thursday October 17 - another NEW Heartland episode this Sunday

Where to begin? How about with a big THANK YOU to all the Heartland fans across Canada who have helped Season 7 get off to a great start. The season premiere was enjoyed by more fans than any episode of Season 6, and last Sunday's Thanksgiving episode (702) was the most watched Thanksgiving Sunday episode of the series' seven seasons.

So to paraphrase the acceptance speech by the talented Sally Field when she picked up her second Best Actress Oscar, "You like us! You really like us!" Oh sure, we knew we had rabid and faithful fans (as opposed to faithful rabbit fans) but to see that in our seventh season the episodes are as popular as ever just gives a warm feeling to everyone attached to the show, from the production office to the writers to the cast and crew to the CBC, which is proud to be broadcasting Canada's favourite family drama.

Where do we go from here? How 'bout another new episode this Sunday, followed by another new episode next Sunday, and the Sunday after that, and the Sunday after that; I do hope you're up for it, because that's what we are delivering - the first 9 episodes of Season 7 over a 10 week period. Yes, there'll be seasonal interruptions but not for a while, so let's now focus on this Sunday's all new episode of Heartland.

This Sunday at 7:00pm... WAIT!

Before I go into detail on this week's new episode let me tell you that another channel available across Canada - APTN: the Aboriginal People's Television Network - which is available on most Canadian cable systems, has received a license to broadcast earlier seasons of Heartland and they are doing so on Sunday evenings. Now for some fans last Sunday there was bit of confusion as they turned their television sets on and flipped through the channels and stopped on the first Heartland they came upon and then wondered why there was no new episode playing. This Sunday APTN is playing episode 207: Sweetheart of the Rodeo. But…if you want the NEW episodes of Heartland, make sure you tune in to CBC Television. That's where you'll be able to watch the following...

This Sunday at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) the third episode of Heartland's 7th Season premieres. Titled Wrecking Ball, this episode was written by Leila Basen and directed by Stefan Scaini and there is a LOT going on.

It starts with Amy and Georgie finding a dead horse (don't worry, it's not too graphic) which leads Scott and Ty on a mission to discover why it died and to learn if other horses could be in peril.

Although Amy and Ty's engagement is rock solid, Amy tends to get a little forgetful when it comes to her engagement ring. This results in fun times for some and some decidedly unfun times for others, like Jack.

Meanwhile, Maggie's Diner in Hudson is closed, and for sale! This sets both Lou and Tim to thinking that a new owner could do exciting things with it. Of course, both father and daughter have completely opposite ideas, which are bound to cause no end of grief. Hmmn - who'll Hudson realtor Dale Marushy be selling to?

And Mallory Wells is back, urging Lou on in her plans to save Maggie's, while at the same time finding herself wooed by Tim's plans. Between this and learning some startling news from Jake (and I do mean startling!) what's a girl to do?

There's more, but nothing more from me here, other than to welcome episode guests Kelly Fanson and Christopher Rosamund, who play Adele and Raymond. That's them you will see with Amy, Georgie and Ty in the photos below.

So that's a lot to fit into an episode but I think you'll agree (once you have watched it) that everyone did another great job.

Of course we do have some more to fit into this episode, so that's where having the Heartland Companion app comes in very handy! No, you're not missing any of the episode if you don't have the companion app (which is new and exclusive to Season 7,) but if you do have it... woo boy are you in for some fun times!!! You can get it from the iTunes store in Canada for free (no cost, and there are no ads!) and if you haven't already, I strongly recommend that you get onto this, as there's new exciting features being added each week. I spent about 5 minutes going round and round viewing the panorama photo of the ranch... it makes you feel as if you're really there! And for those of you who don't have an iOS device, come back here to the Heartland website Sunday night at 7pm, where you can use a special web version of the app on your computer, laptop, tablet or any other mobile device!

Also, as I've posted on Facebook, if you have the app, right now you can watch the first three minutes and forty-two seconds of this Sunday's new episode, which will surely have you longing for this Sunday to hurry up and arrive.

Before I sign off, I want to get everyone up to speed on High River, which plays Hudson on Heartland. The scenes you see in this episode with Mallory and Jake talking to the mayor of Hudson (actually played by High River's real mayor Emile Blokland) were filmed two days before the devastating floods of late June. In case you missed it, you'll see a before and after photo of Maggie's below...

The people in the Town of High River have spent the last four months courageously rebuilding, a process that will continue and will take a long time. High River is the home of Heartland, and I'm pleased to announce that production will return next month as Maggie's is being rebuilt. It'll be good to actually film in the town again and everyone is certainly looking forward to it. We wouldn't want it any other way!

So that's it for your friendly Blog Whisperer this week. I hope you have a fun weekend, ending on Sunday by watching a new episode of Heartland. Once you've seen it, please come back here and tell me what you thought of it. I so look forward to reading what you think.

Until then I remain, as always, obediently yours. :)
