The last episode of the season

We've got one more Season 6 episode to go. It's premiering this Sunday, and it's going to be HUGE!!

Well Heartlanders, we're almost at the end of another season of Heartland, and as we learned yesterday, the 18th episode is a SEASON finale, not a SERIES finale. Yes, breathe a sigh of relief with me, Heartland will return this fall with an 18 episode 7th season! Yay!

And it's a good thing too, because everyone will want to see more when this season is over. I mean seriously, if you thought Amy staring at the engagement ring she found in Ty's jacket was a cliffhanger last year... you ain't seen nothin' yet!

In this Sunday's episode, written by Heather Conkie and directed by Dean Bennett, there's a whole lot of things happening; some good, some bad, some happy and some sad, and some people will step up to the plate and do the right thing, while others will stumble. Let me get into some specifics without breaking my resolution about too much spoiling...

With the threat of losing Phoenix to Eric looming over their heads, things become even more complicated at Heartland when Georgie gets a surprise visit from her brother Jeff. When Jeff reveals the real reason for his visit the family is faced with the possibility of losing Georgie as well. With all the drama at home, Amy has second thoughts about going on a road trip to Las Vegas with Ty. Meanwhile, Peter suggests a life-changing idea to Lou that she finds impossible to wrap her head around and an increasingly stressed out and overworked Jack ends his partnership with Tim - for good.

What makes Sunday's episode really exciting, is that the two new characters --Eric, who we first saw last week, played by Tim Rozon, and Jeff, played by Craig Arnold-- are not necessarily bad guys. Even though we may be rooting for certain things to happen, you should be able to see why they are doing what they do, and you'll see their point-of-view... even if you don't agree with it. They're not as easy to dislike the way you may feel about Chase, Blair, Wes or Jeremy, and that makes this Sunday's story way more interesting, IMO.

I tweeted months ago when this episode was filming that there would be more than one type of fireworks going off... that's still very true.

All I'm gonna say is that you may be staring at your television on Sunday at the end of this episode going "What? I now have to wait HOW long!?"

If you look at the definition of cliffhanger in the International Compendium of Television you will see the following: "An ending to an episode of a serial drama that leaves the audience in suspense and/or wanting more, often employed by the Canadian CBC family drama Heartland."

Believe me, this Sunday's episode lives up to the spirit of the word cliffhanger. Here's some more photos which will give you a little more insight into this Sunday's new episode:

So then... when my red phone rang yesterday, it meant that I'll STILL be keeping you informed on all things Heartland over the spring and summer of 2013, letting you know how the production is going (The show will start shooting the first episodes in May), and throwing in the usual mix of Heartland puzzles, quizzes, games and other diversions to keep Canada's favourite family series in your minds and hearts over the next few months.

Remember that contest we held to celebrate the 100th episode of Heartland? We have a winner and that winner will be revealed during the broadcast of the Season 6 finale. The prize includes a trip to Calgary to meet the cast and will now include a fantastic set visit to the Heartland ranch where the winner will get to see the sets, the shooting of a scene or two, and all the animals around that day! They'll have the time of their lives; that's a Blog Whisperer Guarantee™!

Amber Marshall has been pretty busy lately, and here are three things happening over the next three days, two of which you can tune in to and one will be an appearance in southern Alberta, in the town of Magrath.

1) Tonight (Thursday) Amber will be first up in the red chair of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. Amber has appeared on George's program twice before, but tonight will be the first time she is interviewed by George. For more information, check out this link -

2) Tomorrow (Friday) Amber will be hosting the morning program on High River's Sun Country/AM 1140 from 7:00am - 9:00am and it will be live. If you want to listen in, search 'Sun Country 1140 High River listen live' and you'll quickly find the link. Remember, it's live, so 7:00am to 9:00am in Alberta is 9:00am to 11:00am in Toronto and 6:00am to 8:00am in BC. If you want to check out Amber's hosting skills tune in!

3) April 6 (Saturday) Amber will be making an appearance at the Magrath Ag Society Building with Niki Flundra (the liberty horse trainer who has worked on Heartland). They will be signing autographs and putting on a show with their horses. At this moment I don't have an exact time for this, but if you visit Amber's Facebook Page tomorrow she will be posting that information.

Even some people in Alberta will be saying "Where is Magrath?" Magrath is located on Hwy 5 in southern Alberta, approximately 60 km north of the US border and about 250 km south of Calgary. With a population of 2,200, just drive into town and ask where the Ag Society Building is and I am sure you will receive friendly directions.

So that's about all I have this week!

Next week I'll answer a lot of your questions as we say farewell to Season 6 and look ahead to more Heartland this fall.

As I've hinted at, Sunday's episode ends with a bang. I hope you can all watch it and come back her and tell me what you thought of it.

For any first timers out there - Heartland's Episode 618 is airing on CBC Television across Canada at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland), this Sunday (April 7) evening.

Thanks for reading, Heartlanders, and thanks for watching this season; it's because of you watching that we are getting a 7th season, and that can't be a bad thing now, can it? :)

Until next week I remain, obediently yours,

The Blog Whisperer (Everyone calls me BW, even my mom now...)
