New episode this Sunday, and Heartland needs extras!

Well, it's been seven weeks in a row that Sunday evening has brought Canada a brand new episode of Heartland -- this being the 7th. Yep, it's been non-stop Heartland-osity (new word!) for nearly two months, and from the comments I've been receiving you fans are enjoying the season as much as production is making it and CBC is broadcasting it.

I might as well tell you now that we all get a break next week when that hallowed Canadian institution - the 101st Grey Cup Game is broadcast on Sunday. So many people watch the game in this country it would be tomfoolery (or should that be 'tyfoolery'?) to broadcast a new episode against one of the most watched televised events of the year. Fear not, good fans - new episodes return the following week.

But enough about that, let's focus on this Sunday's brand new episode of Heartland. Titled 'Best Man,' this exciting episode is written by Mark Haroun and directed by Chris Potter. And what an episode it is! In it, another ghost from Ty's past - Joe (Ty's ex-convict friend from episode 408 - 'One Day') comes to Heartland to say hi to Ty. Turns out he is out of prison and is on his way to Winnipeg to get married and to see his son. Joe is played again by Tyler Hynes. But as it has been in previous episodes, the past often brings back more than just memories. Something may not be right with Ty's old friend.

Also in this episode, Nicole (Vinessa Antoine) is now running the Dude Ranch, and steps up when one of the pack horses acts up. She says she'll speak to whoever sold Lou this possibly unsafe horse. The horse? Archie. The seller ? Caleb Odell. You know this is going to be fun! :D And if there's a horse with a problem, who do you turn to? That's right, Amy takes on the mystery of what's wrong with the horse Caleb sold Lou.

Speaking of, now that Lou has a little time to herself, she can devote some of it to helping Georgie out with her science project. Both her and Peter get involved (some might say a little TOO involved) in helping Georgie out! It's fast paced, full of great scenes of action and humour, and you're not going to want to miss it. That's a new Heartland episode - 'Best Man' - this Sunday at 7:00pm across Canada (okay - 7:30 in Newfoundland) on CBC-TV. As they say, be there or be square. See below for some more photos from this Sunday's episode.

And as always, the Heartland Companion app will be back with brand new items, with behind-the-scenes info, trivia, polls, VIDEOS and much, much more. Just sync up the app at 7pm when you start watching Heartland, or come back here to for the web version! Or if you have an iOS device, get it here on the App Store for FREE!

So, I broke the news last night on Facebook, and I'm sure some of you are eagerly looking forward to the next few paragraphs.

On Wednesday, November 27 Heartland is filming a scene from its Season 7 Finale (to be broadcast next year) and they need an arena full of people for some barrel racing scenes. An arena full of people translates into a few hundred, and the thought arose, "I wonder if some Heartlanders would want to be background extras, and be part of the crowd watching the event in 718?"

So then...

Are you in the Calgary/ High River area? In 13 days, on Wednesday, November 27, you could be a background extra in a scene to be filmed in High River. Filming will take place from 9:00am until 1:00pm. Yes, Amber Marshall will be there as Amy. Yes, Graham Wardle will be there as Ty.

Do YOU want to be there? If so, and if you can be a part of this day of production, send an email to and please provide the following information -

  • This sentence - "Yes, I want to be in the scenes on November 27, and I can be there from 9:00am to 1:00pm on that day."
  • How many will be attending (an exact number please)
  • The ages of each person attending
  • Where you are coming from (Calgary, High River, etc.)

Confirmations, which you must print out and bring with you in order to get into the arena, will be emailed to each of the 250 people selected. These will have instructions on how to get to the location in High River, and other important things you should know.

The email address - - is being used ONLY for this purpose. The only way to become a background extra on Nov. 27 is to send an email with the above required info. Only those who get a reply (the first 250 who email in) will be able to be a part of the day.

So that's exciting, huh? If you are in the area, production is looking forward to having you as part of the day.

That's it for this week. A new episode and a chance to be in this season. Not bad huh? Am I a Blog Whisperer who delivers, or what? :) Next Thursday I will have a new blog for you to read. Until then I remain, as always, obediently yours.
