New Episode October 1

Posted on Sep 28, 2017

I am so pumped. Why? Because the Heartland horse with the big 11 on its side bolted out of the starting gate last Sunday with one of the best season premieres ever. Your comments were overwhelmingly in favour of it Canada and for that we thank you.

Let me put it to you this way: when the biggest complaint is a dislike for a character's hairstyle, the talented cast and crew who are making this series must be doing something correct, right?

But that is not why I am pumped.

I am beyond excited because I have watched episode 1102 - HIGHS and LOWS - and I can tell you it is one beautiful and powerful episode that is going to move you. I've seen it three times and I've cried three times. This script - by Mark Haroun has been expertly directed by Grant Harvey and I think you will agree with me once you see it that this is another great Heartland episode.

For some of you, that should be enough, and you may want to avoid reading past this paragraph if you are wary of spoilers. For you, watch in three days time, on Sunday, October 1 at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland).

For those of you who want more information, read on and let me tell you a bit about it, for I do know the preview for episode 1102 has been available since last Sunday.

In HIGHS and LOWS, the family bands together to support Georgie (Alisha Newton) as she decides whether to face a ghost from her past or leave it behind. That ghost is the man who 14 years ago was driving drunk and was responsible for the death of her real parents. Georgie has to decide if she should face him or not. She confides in Jade (Madison Cheeatow), who is unsure about what her friend should do. What Georgie does choose to do begins a chain reaction of events that you will not want to miss.

The man who was the drunk driver - Charles Thackery - is played by guest star Dylan Taylor, and he joins a list of guest stars whose performances elevate an episode to something very special.

Because this is indeed a Heartland episode, there is always more than one story going on. Amy (Amber Marshall) is forced to be a tough coach as she tries to get Georgie to refocus on her training. Meanwhile, Tim (Chris Potter) tries to evict an unwanted guest from the Dude Ranch, and enlists some help from Mitch (Kevin McGarry), and Jack (Shaun Johnston) can’t help but be suspicious when Lisa (Jessica Steen) receives a gift from France.

You just know that Heartland's newest character, Lyndy Marion Borden (played by Emmanuella & Ruby Spencer) is going to be in the episode, as will Heartland's newest married couple, Caleb & Cassandra Odell (played by Kerry James and Kaitlyn Leeb).

There is more, but I'm going to just say that the cast & crew assembled in a cinema last weekend to celebrate the season launch by watching the first two episodes. When HIGHS and LOWS aired there wasn't a dry eye in the auditorium, even from those who had seen it more than once.

Here is my first guarantee of the season - you will be moved by this episode. I will still have some tissues with me when I watch it again this Sunday on CBC. I recommend you do too.

That's the second NEW episode of this great eleventh season of Heartland, airing Sunday, October 1 across Canada on CBC at 7:00pm, and in the Eastern province of Newfoundland you can watch it at 7:30pm.

That's all I have except to point out that we do have a winner from the blog where we asked you to Name Ty & Amy's Baby.

There were a lot of great suggestions but in the end, the production team went with the most popular choice - Lyndy. Actually, there were many who submitted Lindy with an 'i' but there are three people we wish to bestow LYNDY bragging writes upon...

Caitlin Sandford, a fan in the UK was the very first to suggest Lyndy. It was her 3rd choice on our submission form, but she indeed was the first to submit.

The first fan to select Lyndy as their 1st choice on our submission form was also from the UK, and that was John Johnson.

And the first person to suggest Lyndy with two 'ys' in the comments section of the blog post was Roberta Niemuth of North Fond du Lac in the state of Wisconsin.

Congratulations to all three of you. After I get your addresses I will be sending you a little something to go with your bragging rights!

And for those of you who have been collecting the seasons over the years, Season 10 of Heartland will be available on October 3.That's pretty exciting, no?

I guess that wasn't all I had, as there were two things to add which were pretty important. But now... that is indeed all I have, other than to tell you I will be back one week from today with my Thursday blog where I will get you all prepped for the next new episode of Heartland.

Until then I remain, as always - obediently yours.
