'Twas the blog before Christmas
for Heartland of course.
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a horse...
Okay, I'll stop there. After my last attempt at lyric writing I am not going to tarnish the most famous Christmas poem ever written! Instead in this post we're going to touch on a few things about the Christmas night repeat broadcast of "A Heartland Christmas," and for a bonus treat I have a great interview Graham Wardle (Ty) and Shaun Johnston (Jack) gave CBC radio on the day production wrapped. Well, here we are in rainy Calgary, where it seems that it's summer that's gone on hiatus!
Some great outdoor scenes were to have been filmed this week, but because of the wet weather, production has been forced to rearrange its shooting schedule. We're filming interior scenes through the rest of this week, with exterior shots now scheduled for next week. Click though for more...

This week, the summer weather has been most co-operative! This is a good thing because the scenes we have been shooting are pretty heavy and emotionally demanding on the actors. The last thing we need is to rearrange the schedule or delay our filming because of inclement weather. Click though for more...

This Sunday, November 30, an all new Heartland episode ‑ Summer's End ‑ introduces us to Brad Borden, Ty's father, played by Peter Outerbridge. Fans of the science fiction series ReGenesis will recognize Peter who plays the lead, David Sandstrom, on that long‑running series.
In this episode, Ty's father arrives very unexpectedly at Heartland and Ty is forced to confront a part of his past he had been avoiding. Coincidentally, because of Brad's arrival the strained tension between Ashley and her mother Val reaches a breaking point.
It's a must‑see new episode of Heartland. Here are some photos from the show.

So we are taking a week off from our new episodes and once again running this season's first episode.
But don't worry, next week ‑ November 30 ‑ we are going to be back with an all new episode, at which time you will get to meet Ty's father, who drops by the Heartland Ranch under unusual circumstances. It will be a must‑see hour of Heartland!

The pressure is on when a famous race horse, Gallant Prince, is sent to Heartland to see if it can be rehabilitated. The horse has been terribly burned and injured in a highly published stable fire. Its physical scars have healed but the mental ones remain. Lou makes the mistake of talking to a reporter and soon all eyes are on Amy and her "gift". Unfortunately, for the first time, Amy feels totally incapable of dealing with this damaged horse and she finally reaches out to Ryan, the equally wounded and scarred young trainer who worked with Gallant Prince and who blames himself for the fire. Full of guilt, he has shut himself away from the world, on his way to ruining his relationship with his wife of only one year. Amy manages to pull the young man out of his shell and puts him back in charge of training the horse with amazing results. In convincing Ryan that he has to come to terms with the pain of the past in order to move forward, Amy finds the strength to finally reconnect with her father. But when it comes to dealing with her feelings for Ty, Amy still isn't ready to risk her heart.

Lou isn't pleased when a neighbouring rancher brings a pregnant mare named Melody to stay at Heartland. Lou has no intention of playing mid-wife to a pregnant mare, but Jack insists Melody stay. Ty is astonished when Jack asks him to join him on a cattle roundup. When they arrive at the cow camp, Jack and Ty are introduced to the trail boss who is none other than Tim Fleming. Meanwhile back at Heartland, Ben is avoiding his aunts phone calls after she buys him a jumping ring. The expensive gift can only mean one thing: Lisa wants him to stay at Heartland indefinitely. Fine by Amy's friend Soraya, after all she has huge crush on Ben and wants him all to herself. Back at the round up, Jack and Ty are separated from the rest of the group and Tim comes to the rescue. But, Jack is too proud to accept Tim's help, and the two end up in a fistfight. With Ben away at a jumping show and Jack and Ty at the round up, Melody picks the worst possible time to go into labour. When Lou can't get a hold of Scott, she calls in Mrs. Bell, an eccentric old neighbour who uses traditional remedies to heal horses. Together, Amy, Lou and Mrs. Bell manage to deliver Melody's healthy foal. The next morning, Jack returns from the roundup upset by his encounter with Tim. Ty can't believe Jack's reaction and tells Amy that if she ever wants to see her father, she'll have to make the first move. Amy knows he's right, but still isn't sure she's ready.
