Okay - after 7 weeks of new episodes we missed a Sunday (Congrats to the Grey Cup winning Saskatchewan Roughriders) but we're picking up where we left off in 3 days time as another new episode of Heartland is coming your way on Sunday, December 1.
For those of you who are using the Heartland Companion app on your iOS devices, there's a new update available, so if you haven't got the update, grab it now -- this fixes a lot of issues some of you were having. And as it has been the case for every brand new episode of Heartland in season seven, there will be amazing new stuff in the app on Sunday night, popping up while you watch! (And you knew it was a FREE app, right? So if you haven't got it already, what are you waiting for?)
And as always, if you don't have an iOS device, you can still come back here to the Heartland website, and we'll have a web version that's just like the iOS version, which you can use on your computer, laptop, androids or any other gadget that has a web browser!
For some of you that have been having problems syncing, here's some quick advice for things you can try:
1. Make sure you have a good Wifi connection on your device
2. Make sure the volume is up on your TV with little noise or chatter in the room where you are watching.
3. Make sure nothing is blocking the microphone on your device.
If that doesn't work, try:
1. Manually closing the app on your iOS device (double click the home button, and depending on which version you have of iOS, flick "up" to close the app, or hit the red minus button).
2. Putting your device to sleep by pressing the hold button.
3. Re-open your device, and re-open the Heartland Companion app.
If that still doesn't work, try turning your device all the way off and on again, and open the app again.
NOW, with that out of the way, let's get down to the details of this week's BRAND NEW EPISODE!!!!
David Preston has written a great episode titled "Hotshot" which Chris Potter has deftly directed, and it has a whole lot going on: horse action, humour, nostalgia, a little white lying, some attitude, life's lessons learned and even love in an elevator (no, not the Aerosmith song!).
Where to begin?
When a family vacation is cancelled at the last minute, Jack and Georgie head off to Jack's fishing cabin for a long awaited fishing trip that turns into quite the adventure.
The reason the vacation is cancelled is because Peter and Lou have to make a sudden business trip to Fort McMurray. This also turns into a bit of an adventure. I can't go any further down this path!
Meanwhile, Tim decides it's time to take Dr. Virani (Guest star Laara Sadiq) out, not knowing her recently arrived daughter Jade (Madison Cheeatow) would be coming along for what turns out to be quite the ride.
And Amy? Amy is trying to figure out what is wrong with a barrel racer by the name of Hotshot. Hampering her efforts is young Katie, who Lou and Peter left behind for Amy to look after. It's tough working with a horse when you are lugging a toddler around. So guess who she turns to? There's a big time hint in one of the photos below.
So yes indeed, a LOT going on. I hope you watch it and come back both here and on the Heartland Facebook Page and let us all know what you think of it.
Now yesterday was a huge day on production, as over 300 extras -- most of whom were invited as a result of a blog post on this site -- showed up and witnessed the better part of a day of filming. I emailed Heartland's Series Publicist, Gordon Imlach, and he gave me this report...
The fans were asked to be at the indoor arena at the High River Agriculture Grounds at 9:00am. There were some who were there at 7:30! Dozens drove for more than two hours and not unlike the fans who came out on July 20 for the Heartlanders for High River fundraiser they were the best. We were filming a barrel racing futurity and needed the stands full of cheering fans and that is exactly what we got. Everyone had a great time; they cheered when they had to and were quiet when they were asked to, and Amber Marshall, Graham Wardle and Kerry James all came out and spoke to them when we were not filming. It could not have gone better and afterwards the fans (who were officially background extras on the day) all said they had a brilliant time. I have been receiving emails of thanks from many of them and if we have to do it again some day I think everyone (Cast, Crew and Fans) would enjoy repeating the process... maybe even in a bigger venue. Thanks again to everyone who came out for our day of filming. Yet another example of how Heartland's fans are the best fans any series could hope for!
Hmmn...sounds like it was a blast. Speaking of, I have some good news for any Heartland fans in the Edmonton area, as Amber Marshall will be making an appearance and signing autographs from 1:00pm - 3:00pm this Saturday, November 30 at the Edmonton Christmas Show. It's a fun time for the whole family over 4 days (Amber is only there on the Saturday though) and it is located at the Edmonton EXPO Centre at Northlands. For full details go to: www.edmontonchristmasshow.com.
So that's it for me, other than to remind you (do I REALLY have to?) that there is a brand new episode being broadcast across Canada at 7:00pm (7:30pm NT) this Sunday, December 1 on CBC-TV. Miss it at your peril! There's another new episode the following Sunday as well. Your trusty Blog Whisperer will be back here next Thursday with details and photos from that one as well.
Until then I remain, as always, obediently yours.
