I don't know about you, but I'm still basking in the afterglow of last Sunday's episode. [Click through for news on Heartland's 101st episode and a trip down memory lane]
Now two things right off the top before I go on any further.
If you look at the image at the top of this post you'll get the good news and bad news rolled into one. The last three episodes of Season 6 will premiere in a row, but not for two weeks, as Heartland is being preempted for the next two Sundays. This Sunday CBC is playing the new Jack Layton movie - "Jack," and they still had to find a slot for an episode of another popular CBC series ("Dragons' Den), so "Dragons' Den" gets moved from 8:00pm to 7:00pm so the movie premiere can take place at 8:00pm. The following week (March 17) CBC is bringing coverage of the World Figure Skating Championships, so again Heartland will be preempted.
By the time March 24 rolls around you should be champing at the bit for a new episode and you won't be denied, as the final three episodes of Season 6 will air on March 24, March 31 and April 7.
The second thing I want to point out is that today is March 7, Heartland's season finale is on April 7, but these are the only times I'm using the number 7, as I don't have any word yet on Season 7, other than to report that it sure looks promising, with all new episodes this season being well watched. I don't know if I have ever said this before (HA!) but trust me - as soon as I know for sure, YOU will know.
I'm sure most Canadian fans are aware that we have a contest going on, where a lucky family of four is going to be able to visit the cast of Heartland in Calgary. There's still a chance to answer the final question thereby entering the contest. You have until 6:59pm on Sunday, March 10. To enter (if you haven't answered this question yet) go here. Again, I wish you good luck!
Next week I'll answer a slew of your questions as I have in the past, but today I'm feeling a little nostalgic over our recent celebration of the 100th episode of Heartland most of you just saw, so I thought I'd revisit the 16th episodes of all the past seasons before I give you a sneak of what to expect on March 24 when episode 616 premieres.

Of course Season 1 only had 13 episodes, so we'll skip ahead to the 29th episode of the Heartland saga, episode 216, which was titled, "The Ties That Bind." In this episode we learned a lot about values and friendship when Amy discovered that Spartan had been stolen. (Poor old Spartan has been through a lot, hasn't he?) Her resolve to get Spartan back has her hatch a secret plan, but Ty also decides to get involved and both find themselves in a very precarious and dangerous situation. Also in this episode, Lou continued to withhold from her family the true identity of her "Internet" boyfriend. We all know who that turned out to be, right?

One year later, the 47th episode of Heartland aired as episode 316 - "Spin Out!" In it, Caleb struggled to get over the physical and emotional scars from his terrible accident as Amy worked at getting him back on a horse. It takes Tim to dole out some tough love to help Caleb come around. Also, Jack and Lisa's little secret loses its secrecy. Of course today Jack and Lisa are apart, but will it be forever?

The 65th episode of Heartland occured in the 4th season, in episode 416 - "Never Surrender." In it, Caleb's friend Bryce, a paralyzed military vet and ex-rodeo star hired Amy to help sell his roping horse. Amy saw an opportunity to re-train both horse and rider, though she needed help to convince this proud and emotionally damaged cowboy that he could recapture his love for riding despite his injury. Making an appearance as herself in the episode was Canadian double Paralympic medalist, Lauren Barwick, who lent her expertise and experience to the situation.
In the same episode Tim and Jack, through a lack of communication, had another misunderstanding. It seems those two are destined to get each other's goat as long as they are still breathing.

This time last year we saw the 16th episode of Season 5 (the 83rd episode of Heartland), an audience favourite titled "Wild Horses." In it, Scott learned that a herd on the reservation where he grew up --and where he had not been since his grandfather passed away-- may have contracted the dangerous EHV-1 virus. Amy and Ty joined Scott and they travelled back to the reservation, where someone from his past alerted them of the peril the horses face, as the band elders approved a culling of the herd rather than risk having the disease spread through the reservation.

And now a look at someone we haven't seen for a year and my how he has grown. Many of you had asked and hoped that Tim's son (and half brother to Amy and Lou) Shane and his mother Miranda would be returning and yes indeed Heartlanders, that will be happening in episode 616, which is the 101st episode of Heartland.
There's a lot more happening in that episode as well, but no sense giving away too much (remember my New Year's resolution!) so I'll leave you with this photo of Shane (Guest star Sam Duke) and that should give everyone something to discuss.
So that's it for me this week. Next week I'll tackle some of your questions. All the while I'll keep my ears open for the sound of the crimson phone that sits in the second drawer of my desk. I call it the renewal phone, for it has only rung 5 times in the past, each time to inform me that there would be another season of Canada's favourite (and longest running) one-hour drama. I'm always patiently waiting for it to ring.
Until next week, have fun, keep busy and remember to mark your calendar with the three dates from the top of the page. I wouldn't want you to miss a new episode of the series.
As always I remain, obediently yours,
The Blog Whisperer (BW)

I enjoyed episode 615, but I must admit, I expected something on a more grand scale because it was the 100th episode. I thought this epic occasion called for something that would be forever memorable, like a wedding or elopement or something. I did enjoy the Ty and Amy moments too, they were sweet. Looking forward to episode 616!

In the past recent weeks many heartlanders have commented negatively towards Peter. I fail to understand this animosity towards his character given the fact that he has shown only love and understanding towards Lou. Right from the very start he has supported her, defended her, and always given in to her wishes, from the dude ranch, to living in Dubai, to buying the Hanely house and many other issues that came up. If the only knock against him is his absence for long stretches then cut him some slack. There are thousands, indeed millions, of wives whose husbands are away for days, weeks and months and whose marriages survive and even thrive. This is not unusual for young married couples. Lou's character was built to be this strong, independent, self-assured women but now she appears weak, unsure, and reliant. She should stop her whining and be more supportive of Peter. It is obviously difficult for a wife to be alone at these times but it is also difficult on the husband to be away from his family and the travel must be exhausting. At least she has her family there for support. Please, give the guy a break and get off his case. For those who think Scott is a match for Lou - pleeeease.

LOVE Heartland in the US. We live only 20 miles from the Canadian border in northern New York, but if I miss an episode, I have a hard time finding it online. Church services are from 6 to 7:30 .m. and it is a "sticky wicket" for me! Please talk to the "powers that be" to make Heartland more accessible to US fans, of which there are MANY! Smokey, 100% agree with you about Lou - life can be tough but her constant whining is turning their marriage from a pleasure into a chore. As Amy said to her not so long ago 'get over yourself'.
Ok, little rant over so now belated congrats to all the Heartland team for reaching the truly phenomenal 100 episode line. If I were handing out awards it would be: most promising newcomer Alisha Newton, most developed performance Graham Wardle (AKA Clint Eastwood), and most dedicated professional Amber Marshall.
Last but not least whoever was responsible for the soft nostalgic colour take a bow, it was spot on.

Hally wrote:

@Smokey @Meg This is my guess: The writers originally planned to have Lou and Scott be together as in the Heartland books, but Nathaniel Arcand was/is a very busy actor and may not have been able to commit to that. That being said, I think that Nathaniel's talents are way under used in his role as Scott. As long as he is going to be around at all, I wish they'd find a love interest for him with an engaging personality that everyone would really take a liking to, fellow characters and fans alike. Peter does add a dimension to the story because he is/was an "outsider." More possibilities from that angle maybe than with Scott who has been in the Heartland family since Lou was young. I really like Peter, and Gabe is a great actor like everyone in the cast. I even kind of like his ex-wife, although she should trade her German car for a German horse!

Smokey, I totally agree with you about Peter.
This is and was a great show but I don't like how everyone is changing, like Amy, Ty and Lou there looks and even there way of how they always were. Like Amy, she seams so grown up like shes supposed to be married and have kids. And Ty who used to be the "Bad boy" but now acts so "good" they may as well get married vary soon.
Anyway I'm totally still a fan:)good luck making the rest of the show, your doing a great job!!

P.S. if the season ends on the clif hanger i will not be a happy camper, remeber the end of season 5 and we still weren't sure if there was gonna be a season 6! Imagine if there was no season 6!! it would be a horrible ending, so please please please blog whisper, make the season not end on a clif hanger. And can Lisa come back and not be so annoying... i loved the old Jack and Lisa, so cute. And what about Jake! Him and Mallory were too cute for words. LASTLY, if anything happens with Peter and Lou I am going to die. I can have them splitting up, it will ruin the family and the characters. Oh, and caleb is totally ruined, i mean kissing lou!! If season 6 ends with a cliffhanger, they will have to continue and make more seasons because you can't leave things hanging. You can't just stop it and no one ever figures out what happens. Like season 5, the cliffhanger was amy finding the ring. That had to be resolved. They couldn't have just left us there. They had to finish the storyline.
Sheila P G; "the tie that binds" was already an episode. It was from season 2.
I really hope we can see Amy and Ty's wedding before season 6 is over. It would be soo romantic and would make sense, because they can go on their honeymoon between the seasons and then return to their normal life. i also hope that Heartland continues to go forever and ever and ever so we could possibly see Amy and Ty start a family. Ty would make a great father.
BW: When the episode comes for Amy and Ty to get married, will you talk about that in your blog, or will it be about other stuff happening that episode??????? i really hope we can see their wedding and their married life!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Heartland for great stories and for setting great role models in the characters of Jack and others. I've recently had a story in my life (while working and taking lessons at a family ranch) mirror Heartland's by myself having to take on being a role model for a few kids. Ironic! Heartland has taken on being such a great example for family values, supporting others, hard-work and, above all, showing the true power of horses. We in the US need more of these type of shows and examples, and of course, hope to have Heartland more accessible some day!
Thank you Heartland! All involved!

Hello Blog Whisperer,
I ALWAYS enjoy reading your blogs and I thank you for all that you have shared in regards to previous seasons and episodes. To me it makes sense that Heartland isn't being shown for two weeks. Why do I say that? Because an evening that has the story of Jack Layton should be an evening of reflection. What do I mean? Jack had a quality that I have NEVER/NOT ever picked up from another politician. What do I mean? I could sense that he was sincere and when one looked at him one knew that one was looking at a good man.
Also, there is a time to show everything and The World Figure Skating Championships needs a night all on it's own. A chance to watch how others that also are dedicated in what they do - to see how their work has led to them being there and able to share in that experience. Besides it just makes the I will say Season finale of Heartland shown on a later date. Which then means that Heartlanders can take more time to appreciate this show and this season. Why am I saying the Season Finale? Because with all of the recognition that this show is receiving and because of how this show has a profound affect on those that watch it. It would QUITE LITERALLY be a crime to end this show now. What do I mean? It would be a crime because the viewers would be robbed of their chance to watch the continuing story that is Heartland. And we CAN'T have that - Can we?
Again, it is great to read about past episodes of this show as that too is ALWAYS appreciated. What do I mean? It is good to look at where the characters have been in regards to their lives on Heartland. And it is good to see how far they have come and in what direction that they may be heading in regards to this show. That is also why I tend to like flash backs especially when it is showing the depth of a scene and how profound the aspects of the character's circumstances have been. All that the character has gone through and experienced.
I too had greatly enjoyed that episode "Wild Horses" and really all that were mentioned. What do I mean? Everyone deserves to have faith in themselves and to NOT give up on things in the episode titled "Never Surrender" we all see that and how TRULY IMPORTANT that it really is to NOT give up.
Yes, BW you are right for Sam Duke who has the character role of Shane does look like he is indeed growing up. And I too am happy to see him and Maxim Roy (if I am remembering her name correctly) who has the character role of Miranda (Shane's mother) again on the show. Why? Because both Miranda and Shane bring another element to this show that we all call Heartland. And it would be good to see the positive affects that Heartland has on him. Also, it is great to see Tim (played by Chris Potter) care about his son and want to be in his life. This will help the character Tim grow more as a person and this could also bring the entire family closer as Shane brings his own qualities to Heartland. It would be interesting to see if this time around if Tim is committed to making things work with Miranda and Shane together as a family.
BW you do have this tendancy to make me think. You REALLY DO. What do I mean? In regards to your "crimson" phone. The fact that you call it "the renewal phone" is interesting. Also, the fact that you wait patiently for it to ring sounds nice on your part. What do I mean? That you always hope for them to notify you of another season and you patiently wait for the good news in regards to that.
BW THANK YOU and may you have fun too, and I am fairly certain that you will keep busy and I have every intent to watch each of the newer episodes for I tend to enjoy the product that is EVERYONE'S hard work and dedication. SERIOUSLY. (:
From me to YOU THANK YOU BW and for how you are always there for us viewers, us Heartlanders. (: Apparently I tend to appreciate your work more than what you could even know and realize. Yes, you had read that correct. Besides you SHOULD REALLY take a look at all that you do. SERIOUSLY.
May EVERYONE all of the writers, producers, directors, all of the cast in Calgary, and the production team in Toronto, the CBC, you BW and everyone that has a hand in the making of this gem of a show that we all call Heartland. THANK YOU ALL for the beyond many long hours of work and THANK YOU for affecting the lives of your viewers in a positive way. If any of you doubt that you do have a positive affect on the viewers of this show - please DON'T. Why do I say that? Because every job in regards to this show has an affect and is important. For everyone helps to create the world and the feeling that is Heartland. Be proud of yourselves as I am proud of you all for you have ALL created something that helps the world and that could very well be the best feeling indeed. (: From me to ALL OF YOU THANK YOU.
May you all stay safe and be safe ALWAYS. And my you feel the warmth of love's comfort.

It's too bad that Heartland has to be preempted so that an episode of Dragon's Den (which is repeated on Monday nights), can be shown in its place to make way for the Jack Layton movie. I could see if they needed more space for the movie, but to show an episode that will repeat on Monday night, doesn't make a lot of sense.

I live in Mexico and I adore this show!!! It's so refreshing ans sweet (I live in the city and I've never ridden a horse, still it's kind of a weekly escape to beautiful Heartland). And I agree with some of the previous posts, there should be a contest for international fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with some of the above posters that the 100th episode should have been something special, something different! Like maybe a Heartland musical! Just imagine a musical based on Oklahoma! with songs rewritten to reference the Heartland Ranch and characters! Maybe Jack could take the place of Curly and open the episode singing Oh What a Beautiful Mornin.'

I dont understand the dislike for Peter easier. I have many friends whos husbands work out of town and are gone for a month or longer at a time. Two are mothers of three kids each the oldest kids being 7-5 and the youngest being 5 months and 1 month. Yes it sucks being married and basically being a single mom, but Lou has lots of family there to help her out. Unlike many single mothers.
Also what current boyfriend would pay and use his own equiptment to go into the bush to find your ex??? Not many. Also he used his companys equiptment to plow out the road to the fishing cabin to recue Amy and Ty, when the whole family was against him because he was a oil man. There are many other things he has done aswell.

I've been seeing a lot of disapproval of Ty's bad boy rep being lost throughout the show however, after breaking & entering Jeremy's house & stealing his laptop, he still seems like the Ty from Season 1 that we all know & love. I love how this show's developed throughout it's 6 seasons, fingers crossed for a Season 7!! (:

Times of all these so call reality shows that i would give 2 cents to see the CBC deside to put on this junk on in place of the only good show they have Heartland yes there only 3 episodes left in season 6 we hope there will be more seasons to come i look at there line up shows there a less 13 diffrent show i would axe. and next week figure skating no heartland again they do have sports chanels for this so I will plug in laptop to tv and watch Heartland from cbc.ca sure hope cbc wakes up and gives go head for another season of Heartland

Well! I was excited to watch a new episode today...so I ventured to this website - to find I'm a bit dashed...I just have to say I missed the contest by 1 hour alongside no new heartland episodes for a bit! (I blame the time change here in MB) So as disappointed as I am - I realize I had ample time TO enter the contest...so the blame falls on me for not checking the blog earlier!!! Best of wishes to all the entries - I'm sure it'll be a blast!

I don't have a Facebook account, so I will answer BW's question here. Rick Roberts (who plays Jack Layton in 'Smilin Jack') also played in the fouth season of Heartland, episode 402, 'What Dreams May Become'. He was playing the polo team mate of Nick Harwell, the one who encouraged him to drug their horses.
Not a character that was very liked!

JUSt LOVE THIS SHOW!
Ever hear of a VCR or a DVR recorder. If you are at church service from 6:00PM to 7:30 PM. You should tape the show on either a VCR or a DVR, then watch the program at a later time.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS ONLY 3 EPISODES TO GO OF HEARTLAND :( I love heartland so so much it my favorite show ever. I was a bit disappointed with the last episode because normally the 100th is meant to be huge. But I still did loved it I wish Amy and Ty would get married that episode but i don't think that's going to happen. I REALLY hope they do in season 7 how could they not. But I wonder what will happen next season I mean If they get married that means they will probably move in together and then the next step is baby's and I really don't see Amy having kids next season. Lou and Peter I am not sure but I hope they will be ok and Max doesn't die I hope. But them again I wonder what will happen next episode with Caleb and Lou to be honest I sort of hope that something happens not that Peter is a bad bloke or husband to Lou. I wish jack and Lisa would get back together. I think it's working out really well this season with Georgie being in the family. I really love heartland I think it's one of the best shows ever. The thing I think will watch 100 times if it ever happens is Amy and Ty's wedding I sort of hope they elope I think it will be really magical and amazing I just can't wait I love amy and ty they are so so good together and love each other. I wonder if they ever have a kid in the next series or even if CBC make a series 8 I hope they do heartland so so amazing!!!!!! Well I should probably stop typing if anyone reads this they will probably be board of me saying I love heartland. Anyway I just thought I would put my opinion out there love heartland for the last time. Love Hayley xoxoxox

only 3 more episodes left of season 6 :( BW if there isn't a season 7 can you please ask the producers to organise filming of Ty and Amy's wedding as a separate 1 hour special like what happened with A Heartland Christmas?? But there will be a season 7 and that renewal phone will ring to say that there will be a season 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 etc. until Katie is at least in high school and Ty and Amy have a child of their own and their own house :D

I wanted to put a contest idea out there for this blog....for any proud Canadian Television viewers over the decades. How many characters in Heartland ALSO played a role in Anne of Green Gables/Road to Avonlea?? Obviously one for sure - but I've discovered 3 so far... maybe that's it....I sure am curious though!

People - No worries. Season 7 will happen. And as long as Amber and Graham want to keep doing Heartland, I see the seasons continuing indefinitely. Any other main cast or writer changes would be tough on fans and for the storyline for sure, especially if Shaun, Michelle, or Heather Conkie decided to move on, but even those could probably be overcome. Hopefully that won't ever be necessary. As I've said before, I think Graham will be a terrific Grandpa Ty by the time season 30 or so moseys around.

Hello Blog Whisperer! I still can't figure out your true identity. :'( Anyways, I can't wait wor the next 3 episodes. The last episode of season 6 is coming up so quickly, but no one wants Heartland to end to I think we're all under pressure wondering if there's going to be a season 7. There better be! Anyways, I have a really really really important question which I desperateley need the answer for! I've searched all over cbc.ca but I can't find where I can watch "A Heartland Christmas" on-line! Can you please help me? I've always missed it on Christmas, so I still need to watch it. I'm desperate! I can't find it anywhere! Please help me BW!!! :P
Have a nice day by the way. :)

@Domenica-BE: It took me a moment to find it again but in the post of the 20th December 2012 someone posted a link to a youtube film, where she thought it was Amy's and Ty's wedding in it. The week after (http://www.cbc.ca/heartland/2012/12/thursday-dec-27-the-end-is-nigh.html) BW answered this "question" with the words: "Amy and Ty JUST got engaged. No wedding has been filmed. ...".
And as far as I know filming for season 6 was already done at this time, so...
(PS.Before someone else asks: the moment in the mentioned youtube video, was not Amy's wedding but Lou's)

Greetings to Heartland Fans from Nova Scotia.
WOW!!! "Heartland", what an amazing series!!! All the cast, the scenery, the story lines...WOW!!!
So looking forward to the next 3 episodes and... Season 7, hopefully. When we have to wait it's fine with me because it is always worth the wait. When it was said awhile back about Heartland being the 1st Canadian show to have 100 episodes, I was thinking what about the beloved CBC series "Road to Avonlea", there were 7 Seasons. But as I looked into it, there was only 13 episodes a Season which made a total of 91 episodes. I loved that show and was so sorry to see it end. Hopefully "Heartland" will pass 7 Seasons. As you can see I'm a Proud Canadian T.V. viewer over the decades as Kim put it. So the characters on Heartland who have also been on Anne of Green Gables/Road to Avonlea are Megan Fellows(who played Anne), the guy who played Fred Wright in Anne of Green Gables the Continuing Story and the little sister of Donnie Lester (Road to Avonlea) who played the girl on Heartland who's make up and clothes all in black.
A huge congrats to Amber for winning recent award. So refreshing to see that there are people who can celebrate with OJ. Life is good!!
Keep up the great work to the cast, writers and crew for such an amazing family Canadian series!!!
Way to go CBC!!!
