October 4 - A New Episode of Heartland

Photos from season six, episode four of Heartland

Yes, this Sunday -- for the 4th Sunday in a row -- will see the premiere of a brand new episode of Heartland.

[Click on for photos and more info about this upcoming episode]

For the sixth season of Heartland, CBC will be airing 18 episodes of the show. And those 18 episodes are going to be spread out over the next few months, which means there will be Sundays where there will be no new episode.

But not this Sunday!

No, this Sunday has a brand new episode airing across Canada at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland). Written by Leila Basen and directed by Dean Bennett, it's titled, "The Natural."

In the episode, Amy tries to help Mallory (YES, she is back!!!) realize her dream of being a show jumper but discovers that it is Georgie who has the natural talent.

Also in this episode, Tim's newest moneymaking scheme has him trying to convince Jack to be his partner in the purchase of a bison bull. And Tim winds up on a trail ride with the visiting Miranda, a ride that could totally change their family dynamic.

Meanwhile, Amy can't help but be a little jealous of the time Ty spends studying with Cassandra. And Lou? She's struggling with the idea of leaving Katie when she travels to New York to attend a career boosting seminar.

So once again there is a lot going on (isn't there always?) and once you've seen it I trust you'll come back to this page and type in your comments. In fact, I insist on it because everyone, from the cast and crew to the CBC, enjoy reading all your thoughts and opinions, your bouquets and your barbs, and in general your feelings on how Heartland's sixth season is unfolding.

Remember, the theme is "A new beginning," and indeed there are storms brewing as well as great things ahead.

Now, I have a couple of past items I wish to touch upon, including the last chance this season for someone to bid on a family visit to the Heartland set.

Production has donated the visit to watch filming, along with the DVDs for Seasons 1 through 5 and an autographed poster from the series, to the Millarville Community School, which is not far from where the Ranch set of Heartland is located.

Bidding started on the auction 10 days ago, and will close at 10:00pm ET (That's 8:00pm in Alberta and 7:00pm in BC) TONIGHT! Yes, tonight. Not a lot of time to sit around and debate the issue, so if you are interested and would like to see money go to a good cause check it out, at www.auctionjam.com/millarvillecommunityschool.

And I wish to remind everyone that we currently have a Season 5 DVD Giveaway Contest happening. Three winners will receive the DVDs for Season 5 of Heartland, which is now available from eOne Films, and one of those three winners will become the grand prize winner, receiving Seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4 on DVD, A Heartland Christmas DVD, a Season 5 Poster signed by the cast and a 2013 Heartland wall calendar. Nice huh?

The contest closes Monday, October 8 and there is no cost. Just click on the link right here and you'll be off to the races.

So that's all I have for now, other that to remind you one last time to tune in to CBC Television this Sunday for "The Natural," another new Heartland episode for everyone in Canada to watch!

Enjoy your weekend. I am certainly hoping to.

Random comments. Looong, sorry! First, I really like Georgie and how the writers have handled the character. And Alisha has terrific acting chops. Where do they find such talented kids?! And I am so glad that the now beautiful young woman Mallory is back! What a wonderful surprise. And although I don't make this issue a religion, I am glad to see that the show is making a point of showing Amy wearing a helmet more often when riding. On a related but sarcastic note (sorry again ;>), she's obviously fallen on her head too many times to realize she (i.e., the writers) have gone to the soap opera water-trough of on-again-off-again antics with Ty more often than is realistic or that the audience can take. Where is Badger when we need him to forget to fill that trough! Ty and Amy have gone from having a maturing adult relationship in Season 5 to a Grade 9 girl-boy drama in four short months over the summer! (Warning: Guns-a-blazin’ critique ahead.) At this point, I say maybe it's time to give the audience (and the actors) a break and end Ty and Amy's "romance" once and for all. Amy increasingly seems too young for him and doesn't appear to be half as in love with him as he is with her anyway. Not much passion coming from her. The last couple of seasons their kisses have become like the polite pecks you'd expect at the end of a blind date that was a dud with someone you don't plan to ever see again. It kind of/ almost makes me cringe to watch them now sometimes. There’s just not enough passion/energy/fire there to serve as a foundation for the inevitable challenges of married/family life. Not to mention that every time Ty tries to talk to Amy seriously about something, someone/something interrupts him, or there’s a “walk away” to end/transition the scene. (This walk-away scene transition method is used way too much in Heartland in my opinion. Makes it easy on the writers/directors, but has become such a cliché that one almost has to laugh every time it happens. Makes most of the characters often look like a dysfunctional group of “Mr./Ms. Communications,” as Lisa might put it. Interestingly and thankfully, Jack and Ty are rarely put in this position to look like brats walking away from every little interpersonal conflict.) These things I’m criticizing are obviously due to the writers/directors and have nothing to do with Amber the actor, who I think is simply superb at the craft. Graham as well, although the writers have given him some lines this year that are so awkward and palpably out of character for Ty that I don’t think even Sir Lawrence Olivier could say them convincingly. The rest of the show is still remarkable and wonderful in so many ways, but I think the writers have by this point significantly affected the show's story-line credibility by not getting Amy and Ty engaged and by having them return to typical high school relationship drama. The whole thing is almost just too sad and pitiful to witness. I feel so badly for Ty who with Jack has been the most stand-up, grown-up character in the show. Maybe the writers can get Amy and Ty back on track, in-love again, and engaged before this season ends, but the first three episodes have regressed both their relationship and characters so far that it could stretch credibility even further now to get them close enough again to make a pending marriage seem like a reasonable and smart thing for them to pursue. Even if the story-line plan was to have them ultimately not get engaged and married, it could have been handled in a much more believable and graceful way. Just not fair to/respectful of the audience or to Ty (Graham) and Amy (Amber) to put us/them through this soap opera that lessens their characters’ and the show’s integrity. Sorry to be so negative, but my guess is that a lot of fans would agree with me. I still love Seasons 1-5 and will keep them on my shelf and very fondly in my memory. I also realize that Heartland is just a TV show and will do my giddy-up best to like Season 6 :>). Maybe that last short scene of Episode 3 with Ty and Amy at Caleb’s trailer and then riding down the road on Ty’s motorcycle, where Ty seems to have regained his confidence and become his old-self again, gives me some hope if Amy can also wake-up and be the person and solid partner to Ty that she had become in Season 5. But please writers, no wolves in the road this time.

@Hally

stopt haveway trough the whole comment ... can we please stop the endless nagging about the Ty & Amy relationship and look at the broadpicture ahead .... its obvious that 609 & 610 going to be the episodes to watch for you ... else do me a favor just stop watching it ... if it is so frustrating for you.

For me the relationship seems just fine, i dont see anything wrong with a young couple sometimes misunderstanding, fight or have a argument because they dont agree with eachother all the time. Heck id say its life as it is ... and since its bin made clear once again that heartland films in a 1 on 1 timeline so its bin running now for 6 years and thus the characters grew 6 years as well! you cant exactly just skip 2 months in to the future after the pilot of season 6 and just pretend that everything is normal again after the ring incident ..... the word here to use is patience ... since its only a matter of time now before you see Amy & Ty go were you want them to go!!

Here are my thoughts... Amy has ALWAYS been afraid of change. She was afraid to like Ty, then she was afraid to be without Ty, then she was mad that Ty was back...so on and so on and so on. We finally got a light at the end of the tunnel during Season 5 and then Amy promptly shut it off again with that "tie each other down" fiasco. Amy hates change...even good change.

So, even though we are EXTREMELY frustrated with this...it does keep to her character. I only hope that the writers don't drag this on to long because I have to say...I was REALLY disappointed with the first 3 episodes. I'm hoping now that Mallory is back she will straighten all this out and act as a catalyst for change like she usually does. Her brutal honesty should get the two of them straightened out quick. I HOPE.

I agree with all Hally has said above. My 13 yr old has lost interest since Season 5 because of the soap opera-ness that can't seem to go away. Tim is the most annoying/immature character. Lou is next on the list, and then Amy. Thank goodness Chase is out of the picture. Please do not bring him back!

The HORSE is what caught my family's attention in the first place. It would be great to see less riding and more horse stories. For ex. the work Amy did with the horse from the trailer accident. The horses caught in avalanche. Even the episode where Jack teaches Lisa to flyfish. These are episodes that are worth watching over and over.

If we want drama there is enough cheap American tv for that. Please use our CBC money for a higher good, which showcases the talent of your actors, and the beauty of the land and horses.

Nancy wrote:

Posted October 4, 2012 4:57 PM

Amy and Ty do not seem in love. They seem very friendly towards one another but they just aren't affectionate enough on-screen to convince the audience that they are in love. Particularly Amy since she barely pecks Ty's cheek and always looks hurt and serious around him. They are not relaxed, happy and playful together. Either the writers should have them commit and be passionate and involved emotionally or they should separate.

Leanne wrote:

I am also glad to see Mallory back!! But I must admit that so far season 6 has not thrilled me but I couldn't figure out why. Then, I began to watch season 1 on the CBC again and it came to me. Back then there was only 2 storylines per episode and enough time was spent on each story. In season 6 it seems like there are 10 different plots going on and not 1 of them gets any amount of time spent on it. Take this past week......Lisa was finally back, but we didn't find out anything about their Paris trip because either she or Jack were always leaving(and for no real reason) and it was a minute long conversation. The whole rich couple plot was silly in my mind. And poor Mallory just gets left behind! I must agree was Hally, it seems like Amy is becoming more immature and not interested in the relationship as much as Ty. Perhaps a wake up call is needed!! But I agree no wolves (or plane crashes)!! To me the series is like a meal, lately.....the appetizer and dessert are there but where is the meat, veggies and potatoes!! Just my humble opinion!!

I'm known for being wrong most of the time, but I actually correctly assumed that this Cassandra would bring out a bit of the 'green-eyed monster' in Amy. As BW has made clear, I have no worries that Ty or Cassandra will go anywhere close to becoming a real issue; but nevertheless, it seems she may get under Amy's skin a bit with her and Ty spending time together. I actually don't mind that...in fact I think that could be just what the doctor ordered to get a bit of that fire and magic back between Ty and Amy that's been lacking. This is a good opportunity for the writers to get them back on track, I really hope they don't blow it.

I agree a bit with what some others have said; I do think the show has become too much like a soap opera.....where things drag on way too long and nothing in the process nothing is ever really being resolved(aside from the guest of the week story). I mean Lou and Peter got married at the end of Season 3, and here in Season 6 they still haven't put them in their own place...that's a little long. I much prefer some stories to actually get resolved and then move on to new stories. Amy and Ty just seem to be going around in circles with nothing really getting resolved and moving ahead. I'm in no hurry to see them tie-the-knot, but I was actually hoping to see them engaged simply because I would like to see the story play out for a while with them as an 'engaged' couple....where Ty is Amy's fiance and not just her boyfriend. That would actually be something different; something we haven't seen yet...I'd like to see how they relate to each other and certain situations as an engaged couple as opposed to just boyfriend/girlfriend. I fear now if they wait too long we'll see and engagement and then a wedding very shortly after...kind of depriving us of seeing them spend some time as an 'engaged' couple. Those two have been the 'thing' since the series started. I'd just like to see something new and not the same-old/same-old...which it seems many feel we're getting.

I'm definitely not giving up on the show yet as I'm still a fan, and I'm actually more hopeful after reading this blog that things may be looking up. But as always, I'm just gonna have to wait and see and then I'll, as always, give my honest feelings.

Hi BW

I think everyone should just relax and stop giving negative comments. Eventually Ty and Amy will figure things out and I think by the last episode there should be a wedding. I am so thrilled that Malorie is back, that was such a good surprise that when I heard her voice before the commercial break I knew it was her. I hope Malorie gets back together with Jake, they were so cute together. I hope Malorie also doesn't get too jealous of Georgie. Eventually Jack and Lisa will get to talk about what happened in Paris. But us fans will just have to be patient and find out what happens to the characters, and I don't really like Ty's new hair cut I liked it the way it was.

I have to agree with a lot of other fans. I love love love Heartland, but lately the Ty/Amy dynamic has totally been off. I can already tell I'm going to dislike this new Cassandra character. It's very obvious she is going to be a temptation for Ty.

Ty and Amy were so together and connected last season. It's really sad and frustrating that the storyline is going to separate them again, even if it's just for a few episodes.

I really wanted to see the married and building a life together.

Hi,

okay I am reading every comment and every text in the community, as far as I am not able to watch the new episodes here in europe.

I have to say about the comments, I cannot say something about the scenes but the story you tell is for me very reasonable. I think a relationship is not every moment as happy as they let us think in Season 5.
So give them some rest.

I am sure everything will get fine and hope to read in some weeks that Amy and Ty are back to be a couble in love, engaged or not that doesn't matter. I think you don't have to marry each other to be happy for the rest of your life. You have to love each other and you have to trust and support each other.

so enough of my comment.
Hope I can read very soon some more information and I also love all the fan fiction and waiting for updates ;-)

I have to agree with Hally to a certain level. I am finding that Ty and Amy's relationship is stagnant. When she didn't agree to marry him I immediately thought "here we go they are going to break up again." I'm getting tired of the on-again-off-again relationship. If I wanted to watch a soap opera I'd watch any show on the CW. Instead I choose Heartland and yet it seems they have run out of fresh ideas. Let's hope this doesn't drag out forever. Most shows don't last past five seasons before they jump the shark. I was hoping for more with Heartland. Jack married Lisa while in Paris. Amy and Ty get engaged and are preparing to start life on their own. Lou and Peter finally move out. Let's see some growth.

Overall, I really like the show-family-oriented. They have to watch not to bring in too many characters, focus on the family. I really like Shawn Johnston and Chris Potter, both are very accomplished actors. I would like to see more of a focus on Shawn's character, one that includes his lady friend and he in a more of a central storyline that could include marriage, as matriarchs of the heartland family, with Chris, Amy and Lou, Ty, and Mallory. Everyone and everything else would revolve around this family, just to keep the flavour of the show.

Great show, and look forward to watching it every week!

Thank you,

I think it's time, to show that Ty and Amy are in love again.
No kiss on the cheek, a hug I would like to see.
and hope that the engagement is coming.
please no new problems for Ty, regarding new assistant at the clinic.
we shall see ,the next episode.

Hey BW - OK, just one more post ;>)! I got back from being out of the country this week and watched the first three episodes of Season 6 all in a row after returning. I was obviously very disappointed, and what can I do ;>) but be honest about my frustrations, which, by the way, I really appreciate having a forum to vent about. Thank you for that. Just so you know, my complaining is a lot more about wanting this show to be among the few that stays somewhat realistic over time and doesn't treat the audience like idiots, rather than whether Ty and Amy get engaged/married per se. If Amy doesn't have an epiphany soon and get her act together in the story, I think it would be dumb/foolish for them to get married anytime soon anyway. If I were Ty, I'd take a long hard look at Amy's obvious ambivalence and lukewarm responses to him and the marriage idea for the time-being. And maybe that's where the writers/directors are trying to go with this. It'll be interesting. I think a lot of the context for fans like me in expressing frustration is likely mostly about having seen this hot-and-cold-break-up-get-back-together relationship stuff go on ad nauseum so many times over the years that we do feel the show has taken on an annoying and over-the-top unrealistic soap-opera sense about it. We sucked-it-up from Episode 13 of Season 1 through 17 episodes of Season 5 and thought that things were finally going to get settled for our favourite couple during last season's Episode 18. We have higher expectations for Heartland than for the average TV show precisely because with their talents the creative team has heretofore given us good reasons to have those high expectations. But even though if I were a friend of Ty's and Amy's as their characters are represented so far in this season's first three episodes, I'd definitely advise that they put a wedding off for at least a year, if I were to guess about what will happen in Heartland the TV show this season, it would be that they do get engaged, if not married, by Episode 18. Hally - Over and Out :>)!!

first of all the the new assistant is not going to play any major roll in the Amy and Ty storyline this BW has let us know about that she NOT going to be a issue Amber has also said that Amy and Ty are going to go through a great arc this season together so we are going have let all this play and keep watching the rest of the season and I beleive that in the end that every fan out will end up happy even the Amy and Ty fans.

what it is coming down to is Amy if have read her blog for this season she last season she accepted change this season she has to exercise change so for anything to move forward and even the engagement to happen we are waiting on Amy

I am a Amy and Ty fan to beside I also love heartland very much so let give the writers a space and let them take us fans on this trail ride

I was so glad to read the frustration I have with the Ty and Amy relationship was not just me.
We all know that all relationships have there ups and downs, but this is just sucking the fun out of watching two people (Amy & Ty) work through their feelings and fears together. It is becoming more annoying than entertaining. Writers PLEASE give us a break and let Ty and Amy make a commitment. Are you so afraid that you will have no where to go after that? If that is the case, maybe you need some new writers. I'm just saying....

Ello, I really like season 6 so far but there are a few things I'm not happy about. I don't think that Ty and Amy should get engaged and I believe that things should go back to how it was before. Also I disagree with all the other commenters with that I think Georgie is better than Mallory. I think that Mallory is being extremely rude, and is not very nice. I don't know but I guess that's just my opinion. Anyway cant wait for episode 4! And PLEASE find a way for U.S. fans to watch season 6 better and faster.

I agree with Hally.

The Amy character seems to have slid back in terms of maturity, and this "carousel ride" Amy and Ty are on is getting really predictable and old. It is not holding the interest of many viewers! Either they move forward together, or it ends for good and they move in opposite directions. That would be more realistic in terms of the human quotient.

The new dynamic that is unfolding with Mallory and Georgie has potential! Im excited to see what happens, especially since the age difference means that there can be no soap opera "one boy two girls" situations which are too cliche.

Tim...such a handsome guy...needs to grow up already, although I like the consistency of his character and the actor's portrayal, he needs some growth that I thought the knowledge/relationship with his son Shane would have provided.

Lou and Peter need some new situations that aren't about their house or Lou's neuroses about Katie.

As for Jack and Lisa, I love them. They have challenges that need some more attention from the writers; two people set in their ways yet wanting to be together.

I would like to see Caleb return, and I always felt that his and Ashley's relationship suddenly dive bombed and vanished far too fast. How about Val? Why has she been unseen for so long, and the adorable Scott needs some more face time also. As for Badger, I was not too crazy about that character but I admit he was fun, however the sort of fun he was couldnt last long, it would get old fast too.

Great show, its nice to see something that does not involve sex, vulgarity and violence! Shows like this could do a lot in teaching youngsters (and even some oldsters) using good old fashioned values and morals.

I think that most young couples discuss marriage before they get engaged. Like where they will live, what kind of a house they like, children, even the kind of wedding they would like, some day. Ty buying a ring and Amy having no idea that he would be feeling this way, doesn't exactly seem right somehow.
Not sure how this relationship is supposed to progress now...
Just curious, did any heartland fans get engaged 'out of the blue' so to speak?

This episode sounds really exciting with all the jealousy of Mallory vs. Georgie, Amy vs. Cassandra. As for the picture of Ty and Tim, Tim is obviously asking Ty to extract some fluid from the bison bull Tim's thinking of buying. Tim wants to know the sperm count, motility and morphology, volume, fructose level,pH and other parameters. Ty is getting ready to meet such a gripping challenge.

I have been reading all the comments about the relationship between Ty and Amy. I have to agree with a lot of them.
I don't watch the show just for them, but you have to admit it is one of the the things that hooked a lot of us as fans.
I am watching season 5 on DVD and there is definitely a difference in their relationship. As someone said, it does seem flat, like they have lost something since last season.
There was always such great chemistry on screen. I am not seeing it right now. Maybe it is part of the story line.
I am happy to see Mallory back. And Jack is his wonderful self.
Georgie adds a lot to the mix too.
I am not so intent on an engagement as maintaining a strong, healthy, trusting and loving relationship that has been built over the last 5 seasons. I look forward to seeing it in future episodes.

I really think everyone needs to calm down and stop complaining about the fact that Amy and Ty arn`t engaged yet. Yes I agree the whole on-off again storyline is super annoying.(and i hope the new girl doesn`t cause trouble cause that again would be repetitive) But the whole show shouldn`t revolve around Amy and Ty. Plus, they`re too young and real life isn`t always a fairy tale. AND i`m sure they will be engaged or married by the end of the season.
To the cast and crew keep up the good work. :)

I agree that Ty and Amy's relationship has not grown, but regressed. Yes, she may be afraid of change, but after all that has happened in her life, its a bit immature to believe that if they (she and Ty) wait a while, nothing will change. By now she should be able to commit to the relationship, even if they are not in any hurry to get married.

One thing I like about Heartland is the absence of the hot sex scenes, but yes, Ty and Amy's relationship seems almost platonic.

Season 6 has too many characters and too little in horses. Ty (brave, sharp, cool, confident turned into forgetful, sheepish, obsessive, annoying) and Lou (supposedly well versed in finance and she has to be told by Lisa that her dude ranch guest is the top oil tycoon?) are out of character.

I do not see the need for the Miranda Tim romance story line, and Georgie's school/rebellious troubles and show jumping abilities. These elements seem cliché and predictable. I just hope the writers will not turn vet assistant Cassandra into the third woman, and create another cliché relationship. As attractive as Ty is, please don't make every woman fall for him.

Meanwhile, story lines like the volatile Val Stanton and Ashley remain unresolved, as is the tension between Val and Jack. They have more potential because they are unpredictable.

I know, I know, everyone is going on about Ty and Amy.
But am I allowed to put forward one last plea?
I have always loved heartland because it seems to be different than most other 'sitcoms' - its all about family, the good bits and the bad bits! But I'm so tired of the circles that Amy and Ty seem to be doing! Finally last season there seemed to be something to get excited about, and then it turns out that its all just circling back again. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd be devastated if the writers decided to just break Ty and Amy up. Please no! But I don't see the problem with actually having a strong, healthy relationship - why not have Amy and Ty get engaged and married young? You would think that after 5 seasons it would be time for the relationship to move forward.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! tell me that Cassandra isn't going to separate Ty and Amy AGAIN...honestly, can't the characters start to mature already? How many people have come between them now...
I just want to see them strong and happy together! If you're going to write relationship issues do them between Mallory and Jake - perfect canvas for trouble! (and I'd love to see it to!)

I know this is one big rant...but its all from a good heart that REALLY loves the show!!

Frisco wrote:

The episode was okay...nothing spectacular. The good points were the writers actually moved forward with the Tim/Miranda story and didn't just stagnate. That was nice to see. Also nice to see Caleb again...he really seems more together than Ty at this point.

I personally felt Lou/Peter were a bore simply because this isn't the first time we've seen the Lou/Peter/work/travel storyline. Something new please...maybe like moving them into their own house.:)) Jack and Lisa were also a bit of a bore; no real communication, not the first time we've seen that as well.

Not loving the way Mallory's story has been written...I love her, just not crazy at her storyline thus far. And not sure about the Mallory vs Georgie 'thing' the writers seem to be pushing...seems to me that it's possible some fans could take sides and that could lead to negative feeling towards the other character. And promoting possible negative feelings towards a new character just being introduced into a long running show is not something I'm sure is a great idea.

As for Amy/Ty...not a bad episode for them, but I'm still feeling no magic with those two. My fear now is when they do get engaged later this season, I'll be so numb to their relationship that I won't feel the emotional impact of the moment. They've always been my favorite part of this show, but something is just different...and they're story is bringing out no feelings in me whatsoever. I think the going around in circles and dragging their feet and pretty much not moving forward has just burnt me out. Still a fan of the show, but unless something changes, their engagement is gonna be a hollow shell of what I originally wanted it to be simply because I've lost a bit of my connection to the Amy/Ty story.

The season is still young, but in all honestly, this season hasn't been a favorite of mine. Hopefully they'll do something soon to pull me back in and get me emotionally invested in the characters again.:))

Well I am glad that Mallory & Caleb are back. They might pick the show up a little. But the rest of the show very disappointed in. I have watched season 1-5 and fell in love with the show how Amy & Ty grew together & how their passion for one another grew and showed in their actions and in their eyes. Also at how Amy worked with the horses to help them out. Also fell in love with Jack how he is always there for his children. Jack is still there to help them out.I find season 6 has completley gone in another direction this year. So far have not seen Amy work with any horses. There is no passion or chemistry between Amy & Ty they act like I don't know brother and sister instead of girlfriend & boyfriend. This is conpletley different this year. This season does not fit into the last 5 seasons. I know people grow up and change, but if you are in love you should show it. And if you work with horses to help them out you should be working with horses. I hope this season turns around very soon or we may not see anymore seasons of Heartland.

Please writer's let's move on from this on again off again relationship to something more stable and meaty. AND if they are in love then they sure don't act like it!

I too am glad Mallory is back - she is definitely an asset to the cast as is Georgi. Very good addition to the cast and very good acting by Georgi.

OK. I think I finally get it. You know back in Season 2, when Bedford Oil was messing around with “testing” near Heartland? Turns out they were actually drilling and “fracking” for natural gas. The fracking chemicals polluted Heartland’s water and the effects on the brains and nervous systems of everyone living at or near Heartland have taken four years to fully manifest themselves. A recent study by the Canadian environmental group BOGWOW (Big Oil and Gas Water Official Watch) has determined that the main effects of four years of drinking such tainted water is that many humans suddenly and significantly digress in their behavioral maturity level, to the point, as the study reports, “of becoming unrecognizable in personality traits, or to put it in precise scientific terms, these people will appear to have… ‘gone bonkers'.” Thankfully, a surprisingly simple cure for such neuronal and behavioral digression has been discovered by the Canadian Federation and Institute of niXes (CANFIX). That is, affected couples need simply to place a diamond ring on the next-to-pinky-finger of the female’s left hand, which in turn, initiates an instant chemical reaction that reverses the female’s behavioral digression, which in turn, is passed on to the male if they immediately embrace and kiss on the lips like they mean it for ten straight seconds. Somewhat puzzlingly, this cure seems only to work if it’s done “on camera.”

Ty and Cassandra are getting close. It's great that he was a new friend but Amy seemed threatened by it. Maybe it'll give her the extra push she needs to say yes to Ty. Like that they seem more normal. There was no talk of the ring. Georgie is really great at jumping. Thought it was neat she found Ty's old jumps he made for Amy. Mallory is very jealous. At least Amy said she’d teach her too. Like that Tim and Miranda are dating. Would have liked to see more of a storyline for Caleb though. Wonder why Jack didn’t like Paris. Him and Lisa seem to be drifting apart. Don’t like that.

I am so stinking tired of stuff messing up Ty and Amy's relationship!!! I knew when they showed Cassandra that she would end up being trouble for them. I'm so glad that Ty had that "Break-through." But, it seems like Amy needs the same thing. I'm tired of there not being any passion from her. Seasons 3-4 were good solid relationship seasons, and now the writers seem to be letting their relationship go up in flames...AGAIN! Something better change, for the better.

I have followed the blog and the community for a very long time and enjoy watching Heartland every Sunday night just like everyone else on here does. I have notices though that there has been some negative comments towards this season. I just want to say that if people keep talking poorly about the episodes that it is more likely that they will not have another season. I know many of us would like to see more Heartland on our television screens each Sunday night for years to come. The Blog Whisperer also said that the cast enjoys looking at the comments that we leave here but if we are commenting poorly then that means that we are critizing there jobs as actors and they won't like that. All that I am trying to say is if you are not enjoying the season please don't comment poorly because it is ruining the show for the rest of the viewers! That is just my two cents!

I love the show and am so hooked! When I can afford it, I will buy the DVDs!

Honestly, I was disappointed with the first few episodes of Heartland. Something just felt...off.

However, after this Sunday, I feel like everything is getting back on track! Sort of. I sort of agree with the Amy/Ty thing being really back and forth...They just seem to have lost a bit of the connection they had. I honestly do not care if they end up engaged or married, or whatever else. I am just missing that connection...it seems really...awkward lately.

Anyways, it is a relief to see things coming together a little better. I can only hope it continues to happen throughout all 18 episodes. Can't wait for the next one!

I agree with a lot of the comments here.

However I dont think the problem is Amy I think it is Ty.
Amy was trying to help him study and instead of having
patience and the fact he did ask her to help he just blew her off.

I know that this is going to sound horrible but something
needs to happen with Amy.Ty has been in two nearly
fatal accidents Amy has been there every step of the way.
He needs a catastrophe to realize that he has never been
there for Amy in the same way that she has been there for him.

Mallory just annoyed me in this episode, who is she to judge
how easy Georgie has had it.Mallory has both her parents
(who love her I might add)and a stable home environment.I
just thought that she was being shallow and selfish, while I
found that somewhat cute and entertaining earlier she is
what 16 now?I would have thought that would mean she
would come back a little bit more mature.Georgies future
is still up in the air as she is only at Heartland until another
home can be found although I hope that takes awhile
as I like Georgie.

Cant wait to see what happens next.

I liked this episode, I thought it was really good, a lot of progression. For Amy & Ty, as well as Mallory, I sad really sad when Mallory was telling Amy about Nashville, I cried! I really excited to see what the next episode has in store for us! I was also excited to see Jessica Amlee's name in the opening credits! :)

I'm so tired of the Georgie story already that kid never gets in trouble! She's been rude to Lisa and Mallory and nobody says anything. She stole Ty's ring and didn't get in trouble or even get yelled at. And now she rode and jumped Phoenix without permission and it doesn't seem like she got in any trouble. It would have been nice to see Amy telling her off.

Hey BW. I know you care about your fans and I just wanted to assure you that I haven't gone off the deep-end...yet :>)! I have to raise my eyebrows and question myself and wonder why I let a TV show get my goat like Season 6 has, not to mention why I embarrass myself sometimes with over-the-top comments/venting on the blog. But then I do my Ashley and Caleb impersonations and sit down with the family and watch Season 5 and all seems good again! I honestly hope the writers and actors never read my comments. If I thought they really did I would write each one of them a letter of apology. I know how talented they are and how much they put into making the show the best it can be. Yes, I still am frustrated by what has happened with Amy and Ty, and so be it, that's my hang-up, but other than that, I think the main challenge the writers have now is finding enough time to address all the various storylines and characters in a way that doesn't feel superficial to the audience. There's just so much going-on, how do you pull it all together in 45 minutes or even over 18 episodes? But they've always managed before, so my guess is that we'll all feel better about the season by the time we get to Episode 10 or 12 or thereabouts.

Oh, you guys that was my fave ep of the Season so far :)

So happy to see Miranda back and I like the development of the Tim/Miranda storyline :) Chris and Maxim have a great chemistry and I cannot help but smile most of the time when I see these two together on screen. Miranda falling into the mud made me laugh, the look on her face was priceless.

I said it last week, the get-rich-qick-schemes of Tim are a little tiring although he does it for Shane. And btw hope to see the "Boywonder" back soon :)

Caleb was back! Yay!

Lobo was too cute in the last scene :)

And I loved the scenes with Amy and Mallory talking about the worst year in Mallory`s life and the one with Amy and Ty talking about Amy not being part of everything in Ty`s life.

Hope we wil soon learn what happened in France between Lisa and Jack (or like Tim said "Jacques"). In my opinion these two have to move forward.

Thanks Heartland Cast and Crew :)

that is probably because of thanks giving and the nice meal we had. So I had to wait until later that day so my dad could install flash on my computer so I could watch it on the website!!!!

Well I eventually did watch the episode yesterday, it was pretty good!!!! I felt really bad for Mallory!!!! I thought it was so sad what Peter said to Lou about when he's away!!!

OK, I've read every-ones comments and agree the first three episodes were not that great, but since the writers were intent on cleaning up after the failed proposal then a little left over sadness seems inevitable. Also at first I found these incredibly busy episodes a real buzz, but now they just seem fragmented, annoying and probably most importantly directionless. Right, moaning over so onto ep 4.

The standout thing for me here was just how mature and determined Amy has become, like trying to control Georgie or be a big sister to a sulky four year old (Mallory!) I thought she really rose to the challenge. Even more impressive though was the way Amy encouraged Ty to open up, last week by an outright 'lets talk' and this week leading by example, and since even his bad tempered snappiness didn't deter her my guess is that its only a matter of time before Ty finally gives in and they have the 'big talk'. Really that's all I want to say other than this felt very much like a stepping-stone episode towards what I suspect (hope!) is the real theme of season six, Amy's growth into an amazing young woman who knows precisely what she wants.

I must admit that I dont watch much TV anymore but I love this show and I dont have to tell the cast what a fantastic job you are doing with the stories you are given.. kudos to all of you! I must agree with those that feel that this show is the best since the Waltons. One of the things that made the Waltons so enduring is that it never lost sight of the fact that it was a show about family values and the lessons that appear along the trail of life from those that cross our path. Heartland could take a few pages from the Walton's success. I have noticed a shift to multiple story lines that may not give enough story telling time to any one of them and again one of the things that made the Waltons work so well is that they brought a character or event into every show that enabled them to craft a complete and sometimes complex story into every episode that provided an opportunity for the characters and in some cases the family to grow. Every event in life good or bad carries an opportunity to learn and to become more than you were yesterday. I think the most important thing for the writers to remember is to build an epiphany or life lesson of some sort into every episode. Inspire your audience! The possibilities with so many characters is the opportunity to explore many challenges/lessons but it also can dilute the show if too many story lines spread the audiences attention to thin...
I suggest that bringing challenging visitors or events to each episode that many characters can participate in solving. After all the strength of a family is how they come together to solve the problems that life presents. As I see it that is the opportunity that Heartland has to become one of the greatest series of all time! I Believe in the potential of Heartland to change the lives of its audience and I hope your writing team can raise to that possibility in every episode. I Thank You For Creating A Terrific Series that proves the TV can still play a significant role in our lives.

Enjoyed this episode, more of the caring family values were displayed, hope we get Heartland for years to come, as it really depicts the frustrations and joys of real life.

Yeah! for Mallory and Caleb. Without their characters, stories, and the dynamics they bring to the family mix, episodes can get pretty maudlin. If Ashley came back, it would be even better! More and better writing for these characters please. Cheers!

Really great episode! Can't wait for next weeks! Love Mallory being back in the show, hopefully she will get together with Jake. I really wonder what happened to Jack and Lisa in Paris? It's almost like something happened to Jack but I couldn't imagine what?!
I really liked when Ty asked Amy to study with him, thought that was sweet, even if it didn't work out. I hated Cassandra and Ty studying together when Amy walked in. She looked soooo disappointed! Hopefully next weeks will be just as good!

Poor Jack, be obliged to listen to the same music "typically French" in lenght of day. Me in his place, I would not have held more than 15 minutes.

By the way, I live in France, but we do not hear this kind of music right now, except in some touristic areas. It's not like in Canada or USA, where country music is very common and much listened.

That said, it was a good episode. I like the new character of Georgia, she is charming, mischievous and playful, and brings a lot to the story.

In opposite, the relationship between Amy and Ty is a little strange right now.
They look already like an old married couple, which have not much to say. Amy does not seem very loving at the moment. Kisses are quite stealthy and not very passionate...

I liked Lobo at the end, when he lay down to be petted. I wonder if it was in the script, or if he took the initiative himself.

I hope it will be able for me to see the next episode. Heartland is really a good TV show.

I just want to say that I have trust in the writers and producers of Heartland who have brought us this far and are a lot more experienced than we are in how to tell a story. First, it makes no sense for Ty and Amy to get engaged or married right now. Think about it: Ty is working part time, lives in a trailer, doesn't know where he'll go to school, etc. And Amy still has some unresolved matters in her life too, like will she or won't she go to college? They will get there, but I do agree that their relationship now seems to lack the physical closeness they have had in the past. The number of characters is challenging us to find substance in this family's relationships, but it will come back. Jack is fighting his own battles and has to let everyone else fight theirs. Did you hear him say what he hated about Paris was that he missed his family? And what did Lou tell us (we know she is like Jack) she didn't want to leave and miss her family. I'll admit she was unusually conflicted in this last episode, but she really has a full plate; she does, after all, take care of all those people who live at the ranch!and is also frustrated about their own house getting finished. Keep on watching this fantastic show.
