THE OFFICIAL HEARTLAND BLOG

Thursday, January 26 - The Bad, the Ugly and the Good

Ty and Jack at Barrier Lake

Today's blog post title is a tip of the hat to a classic Italian western starring Clint Eastwood, called "The Good the Bad and the Ugly." You may have heard of it... :) Why did I use this? You'll have to read on to find out!

So then, after seeing Ty crash while trying to avoid a wolf on the road in last Sunday's episode everyone is anxious (by the comments in here and on Facebook very anxious) to learn what happens in the next episode. But, as the preview for episode 513 clearly revealed, the next new episode of Heartland - "Aftermath" - will air on Sunday, February 12 at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) on CBC Television. That's a 3 week wait and that would be the Bad.

The Ugly rears its head when we learn that first we have no Heartland this Sunday because of the NHL All Star Game, which CBC always broadcasts, and no Heartland the following Sunday because no television series will dare run a new episode against the Super Bowl. Then we have Episode 513 - "Aftermath" on February 12. But because of a special Hockey Night in Canada game on February 19, the following Sunday, Heartland will be preempted and we will all have to wait until the following Sunday - February 26 - for the series to return with another new episode. Ah hockey, how we love thee...

Ugly indeed! But here's where the Good kicks in, 'cause beginning on Sunday, February 26, there will be five consecutive weeks where CBC will be presenting a brand new episode of Heartland, right through to the 5th Season Finale on March 25. So that's pretty good wouldn't you think? Here's a handy-dandy little infographic illustrating all of this:

Heartland in February

Last week's episode...

From all your comments you certainly enjoyed "Road to Nowhere," but there are tons of you who are concerned for Ty's well being, and believe me, you should be. As you can tell from the preview, he's had a bad motorcycle accident on a infrequently travelled road in the wilderness. It's a good thing Jack came with him last week when he went to Eagle Lake to spread his father's ashes, no?

And while I'm on the topic of Eagle Lake, many of you were wondering where that lake is actually located. Some asked whether it was Waterton National Park, which is a good guess, as Waterton's landscape does resemble where Jack and Ty drove to in "Road to Nowhere."

Once thing Heartland does is showcase the beauty of the Province of Alberta and to that end I am going to reveal (as have tons of you in the comments) that Eagle Lake is actually Barrier Lake in Kananaskis Provincial Park. It is easy to find, should you want to look it up, and if you're vacationing in Alberta and driving between Calgary and Banff, Kananaskis (or K-Country as it is called) is a really nice detour. At the top of this post is another picture of Ty and Jack at the lake. Tell me you wouldn't want to go hiking or trail riding here!

Right now Barrier Lake is frozen and every day fishermen can be seen out in the middle of the lake, trying their luck with a line through a hole in the ice. But if you come to Alberta in the spring or summer it's a beautiful spot to visit.

Season 6???????

Not everyone reads the blog every week (can you believe it?!?!) BUT I welcome those of you who are checking it out for the first time! One question that is being asked constantly is whether or not there will be a 6th Season of Heartland. At this point in time I can only repeat what I've written before. The CBC has not announced which shows --any of them-- will be returning in the fall, but I'm optimistic that Heartland will be one of them. So you're all going to have to join me in crossing our fingers and hope that come the fall Amy and everyone at the ranch will return for another season of great comedy and drama. Hang tight, everyone. As soon as I know I will let you know, right here, before anyone else. I Promise!!

The Official Heartland Facebook Page...

We're closing in on 96,000 fans on the Facebook Page (squee!!!!!) so I'm thinking we should hit the magic 100,000 mark sometime in... nope, I'm still not gonna guess! Not that it matters, as I can't enter the contest (and the deadline to enter has now passed anyways) but to the thousands and thousands of you who did, good luck!

Again, for the benefit of those who are reading the weekly Thursday blog post for the first time, I want to thank everyone for their comments and questions on the Heartland Facebook page!

Questions always come up about Heartland in other countries. Heartland is being broadcast in 118 countries around the globe, and very often the details around that information never reach me, so unless I get the accurate information from one of you, I'm not likely to be able to answer when Heartland is airing in Finland, or whether it will be returning for another season in Austria, Japan or Kenya. So help me out and keep posting what's going on in YOUR country - it's a huge help to other Heartland fans around the world! And as I've promised before, any time I do get news along these lines I'll pass them on here.

Next week...

On Thursday I'm going to put up a half dozen photos that you haven't seen from earlier episodes this season, AND I'll answer some of the recent questions that you've asked here.

Until then, have a great last week of January and I bet some of you might even take in the National Hockey League All Star Game when it's played this Sunday on CBC.

Don't worry, the next new episode will be here before you know it. It better be - I really want to know what happens too!

Have fun... Blog Whisperer out!

Blog Whisperer,
Do you have any idea if the Heartland cast is ever coming to Vancouver or the surrounding area? I know they've been here before but I was just wondering if you knew when/if they'll be back...

Thank you for another amazing weekly Blog - Blog Whisperer.

The top picture there of; Barrier Lake in Kananaskis Provincial Park is amazingly incredibly beautiful and thank you for putting it up there. It is such a magnificent site, really.

Also, your blog is rather amazing as usual however this time it had something extra special because it has the; "handy-dandy little infographic" illustrating what is happening this month. I have to admit quite ingenious of you and cute also. Really.

It is so awesome and it stands out so well that now I can't say that I didn't see it.

Excellent Job!!!

May you BW enjoy the rest of your week and weekend. May absolutely every single one of you - everyone enjoy the rest of your week and weekend.

Again, thank you BW for being so amazing and so very definately awesome. Thank you really for absolutely everything that you do.

Dearest BW,
I love ya, but your cryptic comments are gonna put me in the hospital from an anxiety attack! "Many of you are worried about Ty's well being, and you should be". If that's not enough to give a girl a heart attack, I don't know what is! And if I have a heart attack, I won't be able to keep my fingers crossed for Season 6! But I really can't wait to watch the new episode!!!
Impatiently yours,

I hope there are many more seasons of Heartland to go! Some people may think that eventually there isn't anything else to make episodes out of in the series but I have all seasons and I am 100% confident that there is ALWAYS something else you guys can come up with. Heartland is honestly the best family show I've seen in a loooong time. It's filled with drama, it's clean, and it's always entertaining! Can't wait to see "Aftermath". You guys have me and my family HOOKED!

I agree with Ashley This show has many seasons left as the root of the stories are about a family, and all families evolve over time so will the show as it has already over the past 5 seasons. I do hope BW posts some cast appearances soon as that would mean season 6 is a go. They wouldn't send the actors out promoting the show if it wasn't returning. Thanks again to everyone affiliated with this tremendous, heartwarming family show.

Just a thought that has popped into my mind a few times. I think I mentioned about a year or so ago - Heartland T-Shirts! Why don't the CBC or the producers of the show offer Heartland T-Shirts for sale at CBC Shop. I loved the T-shirt way back amy whore in the frist season with the horse on it. I shirt with the logo a sketch of a horse, etc. would be great. There are Republic of Doyle T-shirts (not anywhere near the program Heartland is) and George Strob... shirts.

Why not Heartland??? I would buy one, as I'm sure others would.

I am beginning to wonder about this show. It is fun to watch with amy and ty together. ty will do anything for her but i am not so sure on her part. granted they both have had their issues and with jack's help ty has really matured. amy is the one that needs help. she doesnt know what she wants and it is right under her nose. what is it going to take. i know when ty wrecked his bike i noticed in the preview she was in the woods with her horse when ghost run by. i trully believe thst was a sigh for her to go to ty. will it work??? these 2 need to be togeter. the show will be better off. you have other people for the suspence. i have really enjoyed show up to now. even bought the dvd up to date. please get them ack togeether as they are a major part of the show. we need to see improvement between the soon. I am starting to loose interest some.

For those of you (AKA...everyone!) wondering about why the decision announcing a new (6th) season is somewhat delayed compared to other years, here's some helpful info from Amber that she recently posted at her web site (ambermarshall.com): "I’m sure presently the big question for many Heartland fans is, “Will there be a sixth season?!” I personally am in the dark on this as well. CBC is going through major budget cuts and they have thought it best to wait until they can confirm the renewal or end of all of their shows before they let one in particular know of its fate. I know you are all anxious to find out – as am I – but we will all have to wait a little while longer. At least there are new episodes spread over the next couple months to tie you over." But (me...Hally, talking now, not Amber), I think it's more likely that the Honolulu Ice Hockey Club would beat Canada for the Olympic Gold than CBC would ever consider not re-newing Heartland. I fully expect that we fans will get our Sesaon 6! Check-out Amber's web site for some other cool stuff too, including an update on how/what her equine and furry/feathery friends are doing!

My husband & I are hooked on Heartland. Love the show. It comes on in our area at 10:30 pm on Sat. I so wish it was in a prime time spot so more young people could enjoy it. I record it so my grandchildren can watch it. I do have one suggestion, if i may. The music is louder than the voices and it is so hard to hear what is being said at times. It is very frustrating. Especially in the previews for the next week. Also when they are talking in very low voices. The music is overpowering. Please balance this so the voices can be heard and understood. Thank you for such a wonderful, clean family show. WE need more like this.

The CBC TV schedule still hasn't been fixed yet. It has the next new episode "Aftermath" scheduled for next Sunday,February 5th after the movie "March Of The Penguins". It has episode #514 scheduled for the following Sunday, February 12th. I thought you might want to know this. I am surprised nobody else has caught this yet, but you should be aware in case someone sees it and gets confused. If you or anyone at CBC needs someone to check programming schedules, I would be interested as I am looking for a job right now. Thanks.

I have some good news for brazilian fans. Boomerang is broadcasting Heartland again! (We were without any Heartland in the past six months) It's on Fridays, 6 PM. They're broadcasting the first season, and I don't know when (and if) they will broadcast the fourth season (we just watched until the third season). But it's a good sign, I think. Just to let the other brazilian Heartland fans know...

I'm from the USA, I came across Heartland when changing channels one night. Well after the first one I saw, I was hooked on the scenery, the storyline as well as the actors that play their parts so naturally. I even brought the first seasons to get caught up on what I missed, I couldn't stop watching them. Now I have to wait until season 5 comes out on DVD so I am able to get caught up again. I do hope there is many more seasons of HEARTLAND. I LOVE the whole show and the place where they do the taping. Thank you again for bringing Heartland to the US. It's just too bad I can't be in the same season as Canada. I am going to keep buying the seasons as they come out, so I am able to watch them over and over again. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ACTORS/ACTRESSES, DIRECTING & WRITNG TEAM AND WHOEVER ELSE THAT IS A PART OF THE HEARTLAND FAMILY!!!!!
I am in love with the WHOLE show. Thank you again for having a show that brings out so much great stuff.

My husband and I are watching all of the previous seasons 1-4. How long does it take after season 5 is over before the DVD's come out? We would like to watch the current shows on the web but we are from the States and they are blocked out. Why is that?

Heartland is by far the best family show on television. I hope it continues for many years - afterall, there are marriages and babies to come next right?

Hi Floss,,,season 4 came out the November after the end of the season so I imagine it will be the same time frame. I didn't want to wait till November to watch season 5 again so I have been taping each week and keeping them on a CD. This season is too good to wait so long to rewatch the episodes. Can't wait till February 12th.

I love Heartland. My son gave me the first,
second & third season of Heartland for Christmas.
I bought the 4th season and the movie A Heartland
Christmas. I am 80 years old, and Heartland is the
best program ever on T.V.that I have ever watched.I can't get enough of the programs. They
make me happy every time I watch each program.
After season 5 has ended, I want the DVD. I sure
hope there is a season 6. Thanks for everything.

[Blog Whisperer: Thank you Mr. Moodie! That's so nice to hear! ]

I started season 1 of Heartland in January. My husband joined in and we have been hooked ever since. WE are all caught up with the current season. I can't believe how many episodes we watched this month. Every evening we would start watching one episode, but could't quit until we watched at least 3-4 in a row! I love this show. I own horses, and live in BC. I gymkhana and barrel race, and love to trail ride! This show has helped me join up and bond better with my own horse, which I was considering selling. Now with the tips learned from Amy, I am now keeping my new horse! My husband isn't a horse or country fan at all, but now he is humming along with all the songs in the show and is enjoying country music for the first time! WE love this clean family show...please keep it coming!!

Poor Ty! I hope he's okay! What I'm most worried about though, like the hundreds of thousands other dedicated fans, is the undeclared 6th Season. You've been so kind to keep us updated and answer the same flood of questions, BW, but I still worry. I'm in Australia and bought the Complete First Season on Amazon for Christmas. My family and I have watched all 13 episodes each at least five times in the past three months and can't get enough. I've recommended it to all my friends and extended family, in both AUS and the US, who have hurriedly gone out to buy it at local retailers. They're hooked too! Reading Lauren Brooke's book series as a child gives me an extra special connection with the show, too. The whole team have done a superb job in bringing to life the stories and characters I cherished and grew up with. I would love to see them make a 6th Season (and another 6 after that!) so I can continue to watch my favorite (and the best!) TV show for years to come.

Waiting anxiously with fingers, toes, and other various limbs crossed,
Laura

Hey BW,
I still really love this show!
It's so amazing. It's got me hooked every week.
To bad I live in the Netherlands, but I noticed a few weeks ago the starder airing heartland here too!
It's on sunday afternoon on nickelodeon.
To bad they are still going with season 1, because now I still have to watch the new episodes online. I'm always waiting for the next one to show up!
I hope Ty is ok but I'm he sure will be. I mean he allready survived a plain crash right? Or does it mean his luck ran out...

I hope next episode will be as cool as the last one. And I really hope there will be a season 6!
I can't wait for that!

Keep up the good work!

So I just moved out to Southern Alberta this past summer. I just started watching the Heartland show not too long ago and fell in love with it. Just last week I was driving some back roads and guess what I stumbled upon?... The Heartland Ranch! It's in such beautiful country and it looks more amazing in person. I am not going to reveil the location for the respect of the Cast and Crew and the whole show in general. Anyways lets hope Ty is alright for next episode.
Thanks Heartland for such a great Canadian show!

Peace!
