A few months ago Heartland ran a "Name Peter & Lou's Baby" contest that had tens of thousands of entries from fans across Canada.
The prize was Heartland DVDs, an autographed poster from the series, and of course bragging rights because the winner would forever be a part of the Heartland saga, for that person would be the one who first suggested the first name for a new (and newborn) character on Heartland.
Well, as it turned out the prize became better, because when it was decided to not reveal the name of the baby until episode 503, a nice juicy extra offering was made to the winner of the contest, to ensure everyone kept it a secret! So when it was learned that the winner lived in Alberta, what could be better than letting the winner come on set, meet the cast and crew and watch some filming?
So last week the winner of the contest -- Catherine R. -- as part of ensuring that Baby "X" would remain without a name until the baby girl's name is revealed on Heartland, visited the set with her mother and a couple of friends and met the cast.
Catherine is 11 years old, and as you can imagine, she had a fairly good time. And true to her word, she has been awesome about not telling anyone - even her closest friend!! - the winning name she suggested. Way to go, Catherine!
Here's a short interview with her and Amber Marshall. Enjoy it, and those of you dying to know the name of the baby, add 14 to the countdown to the premiere, as like I said, the name will be revealed on Episode 503, which will air across Canada on Sunday, October 2 on CBC, two weeks after Heartland's Season 5 Premiere.

Way to go Catherine. Not only get to visit the set...but also getting interviewed by none other than Amber Marshall. Sweet. By the way....did anyone else notice the cameo by Amber's dog; at least I'm assuming that was her dog.:)

BW will you be posting a list of some of the more popular names that were considered before the actual choice was made? Be curious to see what was on it & if mine was included is why I asked.

hi i was just wondering about the end of june i sent a letter adressed for graham wardle just wondering if he ever got a letter from me it will say jillian greenhow from windsor ontario i found heartland on my netflix in like may and i have watch heartland like all the episodes and season twice and i cant wait fo the new season im soo excited for it!!!! keep up the amzing work!!!!

[Blog Whisperer: Hi skylar! Sorry, but I deleted the first part of your message because I can't have people promoting piracy of episodes here. But to answer your second question: the CBC is not allowed to make the videos available online internationally. When the rights to broadcast the show are sold to another country, the rights to stream the episode online come with that - even if they don't chose to do it. I would write to your local station that airs Heartland and let them know you want it streamed as well. I hope that helps! ]

I was wondering if Heartland Season 5 will be airing in the U.S.? I can get the show on one of my local stations, but it is only showing reruns from prior seasons. I love this show and really want to see the new season.

it doesn't matter if it was Season 1 or Season 5.. it's not really about the Seasons.. it's where it is filmed.. right in our own back yard of Beautiful ALBERTA.. what could be better? Heartland on CBC, well worth watching to see scenery where one has been and know the Cast, Crew, Film Directors make it possible to use a natural backdrop for a Life-Like realization in a Mini-Series.. keep up the gracious work to all those involved to make Heartland a success it is today... meistroT - (Alberta Born Canadian)
