Ahhhhhhh, another Thursday, and I know some of you have probably been wondering if there was going to be a post today (a weekly tradition for a l..o..n..g time now on the Official Heartland site) and although this may be late, well... better late than never, I say! Click on through!
I should start out by telling you about an afternoon field trip Amber Marshall (Amy) and Kerry James (Caleb) made on Monday, which was a day off from filming Heartland for both of them.
Amber and Kerry went out and visited the Cayley Colony School, which is about a 15 minute drive south of High River, Alberta. The students who attend the school at the Cayley Hutterite Colony are big fans of Heartland and had invited any of the cast out to visit them and see where they live. Originally a visit had been planned in November of 2010, but an ice storm (!) made for treacherous driving conditions and the visit had to be postponed. Fortunately, on the last week of school, Amber and Kerry were able to make good on Heartland's promise to visit.
While there, Amber and Kerry talked to the kids, were given a tour of the Colony, sampled some cheese, bread and cottage cheese pie (Yum!) made by the Colony members and the cast learned a lot about their way of life.

Before they left, they gladly posed for lots of photos (3 of them are included in this post), hugged lots of young students and had a fabulous stay that I'm sure they (as well as the students) will remember for a long time!

+++++++
Back on set, with the arrival of Summer has come some much appreciated warmer weather, which is good, because this week has been all outdoor scenes at the ranch set, where a birthday party takes place in episode 506 (Gee - I wonder who?) After tomorrow there are 4 more days of filming, and then from July 1 through 10 production on Heartland stops as the cast and crew take the first hiatus from production this year, giving cast and crew who do not live in Calgary a chance to return to their own homes and spend some quality time with their family and friends.
Production will resume on Monday, July 11. That'll be the 14th day of this 3rd Block of filming. Next week I'll have some exciting news about the following Block 4, which will cover the filming of episodes 507 and 508. I'll let you in on the names of the episodes as well as who's written them and who's going to be directing them. I'll say this... there'll be some pretty interesting news for you to read next Thursday!
+++++++
I don't have a lot of additional news this week, but next week I will have a lot of answers for some of the questions you've been asking in here and on the Facebook page. Watch for that in next Thursday's countdown blog post!
+++++++
Looking at the past few weeks it sure has been fun providing you with "Spot the Differences" puzzles as well as the recent Heartland Word Ladders. Well, the fun doesn't end there, as I am going to have another little giveaway opportunity for you tomorrow (and everyone is eligible!) So MAKE SURE you come back tomorrow (Friday) and see what I have in store for you!
Until then, keep enjoying the summer. I know I will!

I just love watching Heartland. My whole family have bought the series and wathced them over and over. I was just wondering if the name of the baby has been released yet? I may have missed it. I have personally met Nathaniel Arcand and have grown up around his home and went to school with his relatives. I can't wait until the new season starts. Keep up the good work and stay real..

wow, i read 'the heartland' series as a highschooler, loved it but never thought it would be a tv series. the books helped so much with the training of my young horses, along with the joinup techniques the herbal remedies are wonderful too. im now 21 and have just discovered i can watch the series on youtube. (im in New Zealand =D) which is a fair hike from canada. but id just like to say,the series is very well made and down to earth, keep up the great work and i look forward to season 5 =)

Great job guys don't you just love the food they cook on the colony - When I cowboyed west of High River we often would stop at the Cayley Colony for some of that great bread and pie. Looking forward to the new episodes. Do you allow visitors on the set when filming?? Would be a neat summer trip for us.

it is quite admirable how the cast reaches out to the Canadian people; i'm from Vermont and living so close to the border, it never ceases to impress me the sense of community Canada shows it's neighbors!
oh, and sorry about that Stanley Cup thing...

Very nice shots. I almost didn't see two VERY cute kitty kats at first either. Hats off to the cast for being so friendly and meeting their fans on their days off; and being down to earth.

I absolutely love the show. I read all the books as a child, and at the time I couldn't wait, but at the same time, even imagine a TV series!!
On a less happier note, being from Calgary, I saw on the news today of someone going towards the Heartland ranch set with some sort of rifle???? I heard that the individual in question had his eyes on Amber Marshall and was trying to get towards her. I hope she's okay??? If anyone else heard about it on the news, and knows if she's alright, please post! Thanks so much.
[Blog Whisperer: Okay, here's the deal: First off, everyone's fine. But beyond that, it's a matter that's under investigation by the police, and I would really appreciate it if we just left this subject alone - I would prefer it not be a topic of discussion. I hope everyone's okay with that, but it's important.]

That colony you speak of I went there when I was a teenager. They probably still make the best peach schapps liquor. One of the Lady's and her husband came into Calgary back in Nov of last year, selling their pies. I bought one and they are pretty good.

Love your BRAVEHEART HEARTLAND LINDA BRAZEN.
Be watching SEASON 5. Why not include some historic vignettes about Canada Chemin des Rois etc. and horse circuses for example one where lion born in captivity returns to Barnum and Bailey circus. Olympic renderer of horse jumps I am an architectural historian on horses and lions.

I have a few days off work{finally}and my wife as well does.We wanted to do something special with our four daughters because its been forever since we have.We watch your program as a family and we live in Alberta we thought it would be a great experience for us all to take a road trip down south to see if there is any tours offered of the sets or anything else of that nature.We haven't told the girls yet as we thought we better not get there hopes up.So is this possible for us to do?
Thanks
[Blog Whisperer: Hi Bruce! I'm sorry, but Heartland has a closed set. The town of High River does stand in for Hudson (and you can see the outside of Maggie's there), but that's about as close as you can get. ]

Hey! I am from North Carolina, in the states. Amber Marshall is a ROLE MODEL for me! I have read the books, and LOVE them! I can't wait for season 5 to come out, I watched the whole series in about 2 months. I really hope Torrance Coombs stars more often, and I like all the characters, especially Jack, (Shaun Johnston)

Heyy B.W.,
A off-topic question that's sort of on topic too... While waiting for Season 5 to start, i have been keeping up with your blog and watching the dvds. While watching I've come to love the music of Heartland very much :)... Just wondering if you would know of some way to get Amy's version of "Forever More" and George Canyons "Cowboy's Dream", or maybe any upcoming "exclusive" downloads like you did for Shaun & Amber's "The Bridge"??
Thanks
Eryn
[Blog Whisperer: I don't know about those specific examples, but I will be trying to get some more exclusive downloads like that for season 5! ]

I am so glad to see Amber and Kerry visiting school children. They are so full of smiles. Makes my heart smile too.
I am watching all the episodes over again of Heartland. Perhaps if I watch them enough I will create my own Heartland ranch. That is the plan. I so ache for a family and setting that Heartland provides.
Thanks Heartland writers, staff and cast. You fuel my dream and keep it alive. When I do purchase my own Heartland-like ranch, I will send many many pictures to you.
P.S.
Will you ever consider releasing a Heartland music compilation set of CDs? I really appreciate so much of the music. Some of the songs I cannot download from iTunes. This would be such a blessing to me and so many others, I am sure :)

BW,
could you answer my questions?? Are you good friends with Amber and the crew and does she acctualley go around helping with horses? Do you show these to her if they are for her? Oh ya and if you do....I really want to meet you Amber, I love you! Also can you try out for heartland episodes?
[Blog Whisperer: Hi Hannah! I absolutely do know the cast and crew, and work as closely as I can with them (from 3000km away!) As for Amber herself - she loves animals and has many herself, including horses, dogs, chickens and more, but she is an actress playing a character. She isn't actually Amy. And as far as trying out for Heartland episodes, the show only hires professional actors. I hope that helps! ]

Hey BW i had a question about the drinking in heartland. it seems that there are several times that show the heartland cast drinking beer and stuff but we assumed that you would have underaged drinking on the show. is the drinking age lower in canada? here in the us it is 21. thanks.
[Blog Whisperer: In Canada the legal drinking age is 18 or 19, depending on province (in Alberta it's 18).]

Hey Kerry! You do an excellent job acting out "Caleb"! BTW (By the way) I was watching ShowCase last night (Monday July 5th 2011) and came across a TV movie. It was called "Past Obsession" Does that sound familliar? It should because you are in it. It looked pretty new (within the last 5 years).
Well I just thought I'd let you know that I saw you on TV other than on Heartland!
Toodles,
