Well, to echo many comments from you fans, where does the time go? Although it was five and a half months ago that the CBC ran the premiere episode of Season Three, it does seem a lot more recent, don't you think?
Now here we are, seventeen episodes later, with the season finale. Written by Heather Conkie and directed by Steve DiMarco, this week's episode is entitled In The Cards. The title comes from Mallory's interest in using cards to predict the future. Read on...
So, what does the future hold? Don't be surprised to learn that the answer to that question varies, depending on who we're talking about. From the preview it appears that Lou and Peter are preparing to get married. But marriage, wedding plans and commitment can get complicated at times...
And so can relationships! More than anything, that is what In The Cards is about - Lou and Peter, Ashley and Caleb, Lisa and Jack and of course Amy and Ty. Watch for Lisa to once again get involved in Lou's affairs - this time in a good way, and watch for Chase Powers - the cocky cowboy Amy competed against in the Ring of Fire competition - to make an interesting visit to Heartland.
This Sunday at 7:00pm a lot of questions get answered and of course a few more get asked. But if everything was all tied up neatly we wouldn't need a fourth season, now would we?
On behalf of the producers, the actors, the production crew and the CBC I want to thank all of you for making Heartland the popular show it has become. The Canadian television audience has averaged over one million viewers per episode for the entire season and it is because of YOUR loyal following there will be eighteen more episodes for you to enjoy beginning in the fall.
As always, have fun watching Heartland this Sunday and let me know what you think of it!
(And a little note to Sarah R. of Ailsa Craig, ON, our Week 3 Trivia winner - I sent you an email last Monday - You need to respond to it not later then this coming Monday or I have to draw another winner. And I would hate to do that, but it's in the official rules. So don't miss out, please!!!)

I was sure it was going to be Scott! Awsome photos! Jack and Tim look handsome but at the same time halarious! Nice car Amy! Make sure Ty doesn't get a hold of it!!! You know fans I don't think that this episode is going to end on a happy note, because Blog Whisperer is right, what would be the point of having a 4th season if this ended on a happy note? I can't wait to watch it!! And I cannot wait for Season 4 to come out!! I really, really, really, really hope that there will be a Season 5. Oh, please CBC can we have a Season 5??????!!!!!??? I think we'll have a hard time not watching Heartland every Sunday. We love you too much Heartland!!1

I am so excited for this episode!
Ty is going to freak when that Chase guy comes. Also I don't think that Kaleb and Ashely should quit dating.
It took so long to get them together that if they split(like in the last episode)and didn't talk about it then that would be a waste of a good show.
Anyways, the Heartland crew has done an amazing job with this season, and I can't wait for saeson 4.

From the video: Lu, you are right! You can't do it! You can't marry peter!! YOU CAN'T!!!
Ok, maybe I should stop doing that. Lou is going to marry him, and even though I will get mad.... And break the T.V..... I have to get over it. But, by the look of Peter, he looks confused.... But, face it, you fans out there, no more Scott.... But if they do cancel it....
:)
And that guy from the last episode.... What's his name?... Anyways, I knew he'd be like this from the begining. I just knew it. Hopfully this season finale won't result as a break-up..... That wouldn't be good, just like Lou marrying Peter.... This Heather Conkie won't see the end of me if that happens.....
Just kidding! No hard feelings! But, I would come give you a big giant hug. As you can see, I'm a Lou-Peter fan!!
I can't wait to see! I'm going to have to miss this episode though.... Why couldn't it be on Saturday nights or something?

im very excited for this new, last episode:) i cant believe those bridesmaid dresses!!! you wouldn't catch me in that!
it appears that this episode will tie up some loose ends with Caleb and Ashley:)
i am a little worried that we will have i ginormous cliffhanger to ponder over. i know there has to be something to lead into the next season, but i hope things could be somewhat happy!!!

I want to thank the producers and everyone who is involved with Heartland for dedicating this episode to my Uncle Bill Styner. He was a truly amazing man who worked with amazing people. He always spoke so high of all of you and what an honour for you to do this in his memory!! Thank you so much!!

Time flew by SOOO fast man...
Okay now, in the first picture, Ty's profile looks angry. Like he's yelling at Amy. It reminds me of the episode "Showdown"...
I'm glad Caleb and Ashley broke up. What a gross couple. No offense, but really.
Ok, has anyone else noticed Caleb has lost so much weight this whole season?? Much more frightening when he's mad though..
And for Peter, he has to be the best guy out there for Lou. Though Scott had this air about him that was mysterious. He truly did love Lou, but, for that matter, so does Peter. Does Scott still love Lou?
Later Heartland fans,

I personally think that that Chase Powers guy is super hot and Sorraya needs a boyfriend too. What about Badger will we ever see him again:?? And Caleb's parents, do they even exist? And Peter's parents, Lou never even met them. Why do I have so many questions?????

I dont want to sound repetitive but like jann said it feels like just yesterday amy became "miracle girl" I cannot believe that it is almost time for the season finale!! This season relationships on the show grew and changed. We said goodbye to peguases and watched as amy and ty's relationship was challenged and ashley and caleb were figuring out where they stood in their relationship. There has been lots of bumps in the lives of the heartland people but what kind of show would it be without bumps and twists in the storyline!!??? I am so sad it is over but saying goodbye to a season means welcoming another. Without trying to be corny its a time for reflection looking back on all of the twists and turns in their lives. But soon enough we will be saying Hello season 4 and christmas movie!! By the way what is the movie going to be called. As I recall as of when the blog came out about it it didnt have a name and what is it about?

Lou and Peter won't go through with it- they will leave us hanging until next season as to the outcome of the I Dos...think about it what better way to guarantee an audience- will Scott confess his mistake to Lou in letting her go as they hinted at during the plane crash episode...does Peter realize he can't take Lou from Heartland? I could have so much fun if I was writing this episode...none the less- lets have a season 5, 6 and 7- go for broke and out season- 7th Heaven- let's face it long time since there has been a good family program to watch on TV

Oh AND, of course Lou & Peter, although I hope, Scott is going to come back... Mallory? What's her future? Jake? Badger? Badger? Jake?

oooh so excited!! season finale here at last!!!ooh, i spot the ring of fire truck! why does amy look so sad in the thrid pic, hanging off jack's arm like that? jack and tim standing next to each other and looking HAPPY?!?! only lou's wedding could do that! and may i just ask WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY IS CHASE POWERS DOING AT HEARTLAND?!?!?!?!? maybe he has a problem horse and he needs amy's help (i bet that would go down a storm!). i mean, if i was amy, i would have kicked him off the property within seconds considering that he was a right royal pain in the you-know-what during episode 317. and what about caleb and ashley? the last time we saw them ashley was sobbing her eyes out and breaking up with him, saying she would never fit into his life and whatever. and mallory. mallory, mallory mallory.... whatever are you up to now? cards to predict the future? when will you ever learn? ( i think i know another pain in the you-know-what.... just kidding! i love mallory, she cracks me up!) glad to see that lisa is doing something nice for lou. and as for peter, well it's starting to look like he's going to end up with a second ex-wife (if he and lou even get married. by the looks of the promo, plans for lou's wedding look grim) that's my thoughts on the episode. i cannot wait as this is the first time i'll have to wait for a season to start. when i started watching heartland, we were halfway through season 3! but i watched it from the first episode of course but that meant i didn't have to wait for a new episode to come out! tee hee......!

may i just ask, what is *gg*? and plus i forgot to mention that i don't really think amy and ty will break up again. i think they just have a fight then sort it all out, you know, like in 'the happy list'. im not sure where i stand with lou's relationships. peter is nice enough but he's away half the time. scott was nice too but he dumped her at the drop of a hat. as for mallory, why doesn't she just date jake. i mean, he is, as amy says, 'kinda sweet'. and she never gets to see badger. jake has liked her for so long now it makes me want to bang my head against a wall. and he's really nice to her despite what happened during 'the haunting of hanley barn' (one of my fav episodes, really funny) as for mallory's 'friend' jamie, just dump her for god's sake. if she wants to hang out with a girl who considers her to be 'easily replaced' then she is mad! well that's all. bye. ps. i can't wait for the movie!!!

Sorry to break this to you guys, but i have the feeling that Sunday's episode is all about Lou's wedding. You can clearly see from the last picture that Lou is getting married unless she changes her mind in the middle of the wedding. If she doesn't, the fourth episode must be about her life and maybe getting pregnant. Another thing, is Lisa and Jack ever going to get married??

I also believe that Heartland should be up for an award for an extremely well written, well staged weekly series....and soooo Canadian...filmed in one of the most beautiful places in Canada...truly Canadian content...with the best crew...
CBC has done itself proud in bringing this to TV...
I would love to visit the film site next time I am in Calgary...I will look into that and perhaps someone from production can let me know....

I just watched the season finale. And I'm disappointed in the editing. It's inconsistent. The wedding shots all show winter scenes with snow. Even the departure of Peter and Lou as they drive away from the ranch - the ground is covered in snow. YET, the other scenes, especially of Ty and Amy saying goodbye, etc. have no hint of snow anywhere. Obviously, the scenes were shot at different times. But this should have been taken into consideration when the show was being put together. It threw me off the story, like there were 2 separate stories happening.
I'm also disappointed that Lou married Peter. She never considered that his work and lifestyle would take them both away from the ranch?????? Hello?!?!? I was hoping the vet (oops, forgot his name) would be the hero and come back into her life. But he's disappeared from the scene.
Oh well. There's always next season.

at the end of the final show of the season, it was in memory of a Mr. Steiner. who was this? A charater or someone involved in the show.
Our whole Sunday is scheduled around Heartland. We watch in at 4pm on an Eastern chanel then again at 5 on HD. just in case we missed something in the first viewing. EXCELLENT SHOW.

I have such mixed feelings about that episode! So much happened in so little time. I'm sad that Lou and Peter got married and are moving to DUBAI :( And no mention of Scott. Also- Caleb and Ashley got married?! I cannot WAIT to see Val's reaction; she is going to freak out.
However, what's with the characters talking about going to 'college' and the 'Ivy League'? Aren't we still in Canada? We call it university, not college (at least not when referring to places like Harvard, Brown, McGill, etc)- plus, usually we don't go after the Ivy League, Canada has its own great universities. Why not have the characters talk about those? Moreover- you don't just decide to apply to university (nevermind the Ivy League) in mid-winter. You usually apply in the fall (especially if you WERE applying to Ivy League schools in the US, since you'd need to take the SATs well in advance) and by winter you start getting offers. Just my pet peeve about this episode! Other than that it was a very exciting hour.

Amy and Malory looked really cute too! Thanks to lisa things turned out okay for everyone and nice work jack with calming Lue down...man was that ever a close one. I loved the ending with Malory and the tarrot cards. I think it was nice to have everyone have a snipit of how the cards played out for them. It really finnished the season off well.

They make me sad, and angry, and impatient, and they tend to put me in a crabby mood until I see a new episode. I loved the episode, but I must have cried, like, twice. Two good things to look forward to though. The movie and the next season. I wish I could fast forward time to the new season, and then rewind it back to summer. Lou and oil guy CANNOT get married. It's just not right. He's away all the time, and Lou's always bending over backwards for him when he is around. Not to mention Scott... has anyone else forgotten what happens in the original books???

Okay i am really disappointed and shocked that Lou married peter i thought that she would just call of the wedding or something. Cause in MY books/opinion Lou and peter will NEVER survive the way they always fight. Lou has go go away for home i think she will be homesick desperately. i can not belive ty acuttly took the ring for amy like whatever ty...(what a baby i mean dude whats wronge when she hangs out with another guy).......wow don't know why but i am kinda glad Ty is going away i have had enough of Ty for awhile ;) sorry but i have...
P.S i am glad heartland is over now i can go back and start watch HOCKEY again......GO

WHAT AN AMAZING FINALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was crying during the wedding!!! Phoebs you are so lucky that you get the script to this amazing finale!!!!!! I am so happy that lou and peter got married even though I wansn't for it in the beginning. I was so sad when amy and ty were arguing and she gave the ring back all that was going through my head was "what, no not on the season finale!!!" Which is why I was incredibly relieved when they made up at the end. That last scene with ashley and caleb is going to make it one tough summer!! Blog whisperer you are going to have to help us get through the summer :P I cant believe its over. I swear it was only yesterday that amy helped ceasar!! Another season of heartland also means another season of my life has passed, Heartland makes my life fly by even faster than it already did!! But guess what I am going to be doing this summer!!!???? Going on this blog every day, watching heartland over and over again and when I visit my aunt in ontario in july, talking about it nonstop!! I have a few questions for you blog whisperer I will post them tomorrow on this post. Is that ok? And I am so buying that song at the end!!!!

I wonder where ty had to go by himself...maybe he went to go and see his mom or dad? i just hope hes not gone to long in the next season! all in all, it wasnt as big as a cliff hanger as i was worried about i cant wait for next season and i think that this episode was great!! :0 great job to all the writers and actors...oh and also.. mallory looked super pretty in lous wedding and i noticed jake looking at her and it looks to me as though hes grown uo and filled out quite a bit! and soraya looked soo pretty!! cant wait for next seasomn!!! thanks for such a great season!! :)

Awwwe, well Season 3 is officially over. And the sad thing is I won't be on the fan site that much if at all as my computer is painfully slow in loading that site :(
[Blog Whisperer: Not to worry! We're going to ramp up some of the features on THIS site, so you won't miss out! ]
Anyways, thank you! No overly dramatic ending! Lets see... Lou left, Ty left, Amy's going to leave, looking like everyone's leaving the nest! I thought Lou was extremly annoying in this episode, first she FREAKS about the wedding date change, talk about Bridezilla! I had to laugh at her stupidity though, of course you're moving away! Did you really think you'd get married just for show? Really?! Wouldn't it be so horrible to move away, married and rich. Sure the family situation is kinda difficult but you could still see them! Then she was complaining about how Lisa should help out more after Lou ripped her head off the last time Lisa tried to help, can you blame Lisa for wanting to stay away? She was so selfish about the whole thing, even about the wedding dress! It wasn't supposed to be ready for another few months and then you call telling them to finish it right away and you expect the royal treament? Wow! While everyone's done nothing but help and be patient she's looking out for number one: herself.
Oh the nerve of that Chase guy! He ignores everyone and to top it off after numerous calls and visits he actually has the guts to bring the horse there! That should say something! And Amy... so the horse looks like Pegasus? OOOHH!! I would have let Ty kick him off the property, I can totally understand why he's mad. Amy didn't listen to anything he said and then got furious with him for wanting some alone time, at least he's telling you! Awwe, and then the sappy scene where Amy's frantically galloping after his truck yelling his name and blah blah blah you watched it. GAG!
So... unanswered questions are: Will Lou come back? I really don't care, she should have a happily ever after by herself. Did Ashley and Caleb get married? Okay, it was never mentioned or proven that that's what he was planning but everything pointed to that, that would be cool if they got married! I've watched so many TV dramas where there's a teen marriage, love em' :D And what's going to happen with Amy and Ty? Will Amy go on tour? When will Ty come back? Wow, Season 4 is gonna be filled with what we all love and crave in our TV shows.... drama!
As always, best of luck to the cast and crew for filming Season 4, you did a great job with Season 3! Blog Whisperer, you did an awesome job of monitering the blog and keeping us updated, thank you for that! Have a great Spring and Summer fellow bloggers :)

Hi! I have really enjoyed the last 3 seasons! We have even bought it off itunes! We love the show! I was very disappaionted with the need to bring in the "cards" into this last show. I will not be downloading this episode. We don't need that in our home. I hope you can leave that out in the future. Thanks for another great season! We have enjoyed it!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! What happened to the beautiful couple we saw all other 17 episodes of season 3! Amy and Ty were doing so well! I'm 100% blaming it on Chase Powers! And where is Ty going? How can he leave! We all love him! Where is he going! The worst part is we have to wait until September to find out. Or mabey there will be something in the Christmas special! And very mean Peter took Lou to Dubai! I don't think Lou really wanted to go. And I was sure at the wedding Lou was going to look at Scott and say "No" to marridge. I was sure it was going to be scott she married! They got married in the books. Anyways, sigh!!!
The only people left at Heartland are Jack, Amy and Mallory. But then Amy's going to the Ring Of Fire Tour! Oh I wish Ty would have gone with her! Where is Ty going?????? It was a good episode but it left alot of cliff hangers!!! Can't wait uuntil next season!! There are so many things I want to know about. Cry.

I can't believe Lou and Peter got married? I really did not think it was going to happen and I thought Scott would somehow re-enter things? Lou won't stayin Dubai surely? so confused, is that actress leaving the show for good? and why not bring Scott back? I'm actually pretty dissapointed.

I hope that Ty will be back very soon! I love the couple Amy & Ty... ♥
And the wedding was great. But now - Lou in Dubai! *cry*
So, I hoooope that by starting season 4 all these journeys will be finished!
Heartland without Ty and Lou would be awful!
I don´t know how to survive the time until september.
I´ll miss you all soo much! And Spartan and all the other horses, too! :)
Lots of love!

Well, that was a disappointing end... it was a desperation ending. It is possible that the writers' energy waned towards the end of the season.
I'm assuming that the merger happened before the financial crisis when Dubai was flush with cash.
Now there's a thought... Peter and Lou return penniless and Peter has to rebuild his oil ventures in Alberta while mucking the stalls on off hours.
That would be television imitating life. At least it would catch up with life.
I suggest the CBC run an episode writing contest.
Yes, let those of us who spur American pop drivel to watch one redeeming Canadian show have a go at it!
Prize... a walk-on, secondary part with dialogue in a Heartland episode. If you write it, you get to appear in it.
In the hope that someone at CBC reads this post and is interested, please notify me of your intent and request IP permission!
Cheers!
[Blog Whisperer: Ummmm... for the record, there is no provision in IP/Copyright law in any jurisdiction that protects random unsolicited ideas for contests. But it's unlikely that we would do a contest like this in any case.]

Last episode. It was absolutely awesome.
So many unanswered questions. What is going to happen to the DUDE ranch is Lou is gone? Everyone is leaving - who will be back for season 4? What will happen with Heartland and who will be treating the horses?
We loved the Ring of Fire show as well, so relative to what is happening in the horse field these days with so many supposed horse whispers out there - it definitely has become a show.
Well we are hanging on the edge and can not wait for the next season. Hope we get to see some repeat shows or why watch TV on SUnday. No Heartland no need to watch TV.

I think Lou and peter will never get along...here is what i think
- Lou and peter often fight.
- who will cook the dinner at heartland ??
- Lou will be homesick desperately.
- who will run the dude ranch...not TIM don't tell me that.
- and their will be no more Amy/Lou scenes that's gonna suck
even though thier are not much.
- Lou is moving way to far away from home that's not GOOD
PLUS heartland will NOT be the same with out Lou i mean some people think she is boring but i do NOT i
like Lou a lot she is kind and knows what to do sometimes ;)
- anyway i think i can wait a few months for heartland to come back it wasn't such a BIG BIG cliffhanger like always
Sarah...now i can watch hockey again on Sunday..

eeeeeeeeeeeee i loved it so much! what a beautiful finale! I was almost crying throughout!!
It was a perfect heartland story and all the characters were really true to themselves.. Lou a bit dramatic.. Jack 'the rock' and always there.. Amy slightly emotional and empathetic.. Tim a bit grumpy/blunt (i cant think of a perfect word to describe him..).. Ty a bit mysterious and unpredictable.. and Mallory..well she's Mallory :D And LOL at the look that passed between Jack and Mallory at the wedding!! They are soo going to get together next season :D
I actually liked it when Amy and Ty broke up for a while.. they play all the angst stuff well :D And everyone looked so nice in their wedding clothes! But I am so glad Amy and Ty got back together at the end.. i know some people might find the ending cliched but i loved it (really really loved it) and the last shot of Amy riding back to heartland whilst Ty was driving away was cool :)
Its nice that Lisa and Jack are still going strong and i liked Lisa's role in this episode.. i thought she was really understanding and she was so great for coming to the rescue with the wedding dress.. I also like that Tim is going with Amy on the Ring of Fire Tour - he can spend some quality time with his daughter before he goes to California.. The travelling will also bring something new to heartand and provide a fresh start to season 4 :)
Caleb and Ashley.. hmm.. wonder what happens.. does the carrying the bride over the threshold give us a big hint? .. And haha i agree Val is going to freak. Majorly.
I really really can't wait till season 4. So many unanswered questions! So many things to watch what happens! I hope Lou will be happy in Dubai.. :)
Ahh im so excited!! The break seems too long.. i cant get my head around it :( But at least i can re-watch episodes :) A BIG well done to everyone on the heartland team! You outdid yourselves and i really enjoyed this season! Thank you for making such an awesome show! Hope heartland is around for many years to come :D
Love Maya

ohmygod!!!! this was so the best episode ever!!! i really thought ty was gonna leave near the end then amy came riding up and everything. i was bawling my eyes out like a baby at the end. seriously, i haven't cried like that since i was like nine! its sad that lou left and everything but i have a feeling that she and ty will probably be back in season 4. and mallory going through the cards at the end; i think she is in love with jake. even though she and badger kissed, her and jake were looking at and each other and everything at the wedding. as it turns out, heartland is a great pick-me-up cos i had a serious cold today and yesterday but im feeling way better now (despite the runny nose and sore throat). soraya looks so fantastic at the wedding, her hair especially. its funny how in the episode, everything in mallory's cards did sorta happen. weird or what? i was completely wigging out when chase started acting all flirty with amy. but i love this episode. it was one of the two heartland episodes that made me cry (the other was quarantine) and all in all it was an amazing end to season 3. i officially declare the heartland writers are pure genius! can't wait for season 4!!

So in my mind right now is some thoughts of the new season. i am sorta thinking that peter and lou are not going to move to Dubai, but move into that new house. i am not sure whether Ashley and Caleb got married though. i hope that Ty makes a suprise appearance at the ring of fire thing, if Amy actually does it.

okay!!! that was an interesting episode!
i was on edge the whole time waiting to see what huge cliffhanger would be sprung on us. But there was no new problem. we kind of have a new interest to see what will become of Lou and peter. I will miss Lou for sure if they actually stay in Dubai. she's such a part of heartland!!! :(
We also have Mallory to wonder about! her love triangle is like a little younger version of what Amy's used to be!!! hopefully it is not to predictable, but i am becoming more and more interested in Mallory!!
i was sooooo glad that Amy and Ty didn't leave the season fighting, but i really didn't catch on to what their fight was about in the first place!! it seemed like they just both exploded, for no real reason. Maybe there will be more explanation next season...
Mallory's cards were adorable!!! it was quite Mallory-like. I don't think Mallory was snoopy enough though. she wasn't into everyone's business as much (or maybe she is growing out of that?)
ASHELY AND CALEB!!! OMG from what we saw, it looks like Ashley said yes!! i cant believe it! but if they got married, or engaged i am so happy!!! i hope there will be another celebration at the dude ranch.
lastly, it was a very good thing that i wasn't there when chase powers was. i would have exploded, and not acted very well at all!!! he was giving me the eebiejeebies, and i didn't like him one bit!! (shudders) ewwwww
C ya'll around

Wow! Thats all i can say about this finale!! So much happened. I kind of have some mixed feelings about it though. I mean Lou married Peter and moved to Dubai???? How on earth did that happen. In the books she marries scott and they have a little girl named holly and the live near the farm! but now scott seems to be completely out of the picture, and afterall he is in the mane character list. when i was watching the wedding i was like "no lou, dont say i do!! its not the right thing for you!" shes always so sad when peters around and hes never home. how are they ever going to have a functional realationship when he obviously puts work before lou. :( :( i hope she comes back and marries scott, but that would mean peters going to have been divorced twice!!!!
And then amy and ty? i was like what, there breaking up but then when they got back together i thought it was really sweet, but caleb and ashleigh? i was kind of mad at that part because it was kind of really sudden, and there was no lead up. i thought a lot of it was kind of rushed like the wedding and the ash/caleb and especially the part when amy cures chases horse! you cant cure a horse in 2 minutes and it takes more time than that to do join up! she just pushed him around the ring twice!!!!
But thats just me being really critical, but overall i loved the show!! i really liked how there was no big clifhanger because weve had a lot of those! it was a nice ending but one that will definitely have veiwers watching in the fall! great job everbody! cant wait for season 4!!!!!!

Wow, so sad that this season is over already but so happy that there will be a next season *and* a movie. Have to say that I am disappointed that Lou married Peter .. and that there was no sign of Scott. The writers put that bit with him voicing his regrets and feelings for Lou in the plane crash episode and then we don't get any sort of payoff afterwards..boohoo. I miss Scott and would love to see more of him with or without Lou.
I can't imagine that Lou won't be back at Heartland though.. it just wouldn't be the same without her there. Who will run the dude ranch?
Loved the ending with Ty and Amy (big awww moment), loved seeing Jake at the wedding (he and Mallory are too cute and hope to see more of them in the future), everyone looked fabulous at the wedding. Amy and Tim out on the road together... that would be interesting to watch! I loved the scenes with Lisa and Lou. Can't wait to see Val's reaction to Caleb and Ash (who would have thought Caleb had it in him?!). Looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds but the wait will be tough! Thanks to all of those who bring Heartland to us. It's a wonderful show!

Well. there you have it. Another EXCELENT episode of Heartland. That was an amazing ending to a amazing season. There is not a cast member in this show that is not great. I don't think that Lou will stay in Dubai and I don't even know if she will stay married but for sure she will be back. When she broke down with Jack that was just an amazing scene. She will miss Heartland way to much to stay away.Ty will be back everyone. He never said he wouldn't be back just that he had to go and have some time to himself. This show is so refreshing. Every week we follow this family and watch them grow. There are no other shows like this on TV. To everyone involved in this show Well Done. We look forward to season 4 and hopefully there is season 3 reruns to keep us going until the fall. To CBC just keep em coming. You haven't had such a great show in years. See you in the fall.

LOL @ "all-new cast for season 4!". BW, I always appreciate your wit on this blog. Thanks for keeping things light!
I haven't done a synopsis in a while, because I just haven't had the time. Season Finales, though, deserve special attention. And ohh, my... where to start? Heather Conkie churns out another excellent script with just enough surprises to make things fun and interesting.
The Guy (and Doll) in Dubai!
Peter announces to Lou that he has an opportunity for a merger with a big-time oil company in Dubai. Implications? He'd need to be there to make sure it all goes through smoothly. This throws all the wedding plans in disarray.
Thanks to a little advance spoiler from an on-line journalist's article, I knew the Dubai card was on the table. Still, what a bombshell for Lou. No more June wedding, hon. For all her protestations of not moving to Dubai, and not moving up the wedding, I'm amazed Lou capitulated. I really thought Michelle Morgan did a brilliant job this episode, especially when Lou was sitting in the kitchen in tears. In spite of her emotional state, she was still trying to ensure Tim didn't deck Peter.
And that awesome sisterly relationship I've come to expect and admire between Big Sis and Li'l Sis was on full display again, with Amy dishing out wise-beyond-her years advice. (If only she could apply that same wisdom to her relationship with Ty.) Amy helped put things in perspective regarding Peter's bombshell of an announcement, and makes the idea of moving up the wedding seem that much more acceptable.
So at dinner, Lou announces that she's made a decision: she will indeed be moving up the wedding, and she will be leaving with Peter for Dubai. Lisa offers a toast to the couple, and Tim looks like he's eating rusted nails.
When choosing a venue for the wedding, Jack drives Lou around Hudson looking for likely locations. Lou expresses her disappointment that Lisa hasn't been more helpful with the wedding plans. Jack starts explaining that Lisa really does want to help, but she's afraid to. Lou is surprised by this and is about to ask why, but then sees where Jack has brought them: a lovely little country church he and Lyndy were wed. Lou is instantly captivated, and decides it's just the place.
Powers' Play
And in the 'horse story du jour', Chase Powers is back!
[Meaningless digression: Torrance Coombs aka Chase once played the son of Jessica Steen aka Lisa, on jPod. Weird, eh? I won't even get into the kinds of speculation going on about the origins of Chase's name, because that would be another meaningless digression.]
Alrighty, so Chase shows up and asks Amy to look at one of his horses, but Amy can't stand the jerk. She and Ty pretty much kick him off Heartland. Chase can't seem to take a hint, and keeps pestering her - phoning repeatedly. He shows up once again, horse in tow this time, and lo and behold, 'Zephyr' reminds Amy of Pegasus. Amy at once has a chance of heart, and agrees to work with him. Zephyr refuses to be bridled, but Amy "works her magic", and gets the horse to settle. Chase is duly impressed, and they get to talking about the Ring of Fire tour. Amy has been invited to take her 'act' on the road, and Chase encourages her to go. He comes off as less jerky in these scenes, and tells Amy his 'act' in the Ring of Fire is more of a persona than anything else. Chase then boldly asks Amy about her ring, and if she's engaged to "that guy". Amy explains that it's a promise ring, and that it's a promise to be there for each other.
Amy later diagnoses Zephyr with high stress and anxiety, probably brought on by Chase's grueling travel schedule. She wants to give Zephyr some stress relieving herbs. She also advises Chase lay off him for a bit and just let him 'be a horse'. Chase is fine with this, then mentions he has to go out of town for a couple weeks. Amy readily agrees to keep Zephyr for the duration, which will give her an opportunity to work with him some more...
Cringe Alert!!
Chase thanks her, and says he'll see her when he gets back. Then... (gag me) he puts his hand on her thigh (!) and asks if she's given any further thought to joining the Ring of Fire tour. [If that were me, I'd demand he remove his grabby paw from me ASAP, or he'd lose it!] Not only that, he lets his hand linger far too long for my liking. Ty picks that moment to pull up on his Norton bike, and Chase finally leaves. What's bothersome is Amy didn't seem upset or bothered by that too-close-for-comfort touch... (shudder.)
No to the Dress!
Poor Lou. Because the New York designer responsible for making her wedding and bridesmaids dresses wasn't prepared for a change in the wedding date, the dresses won't be ready in time. Lou frets that she looks like a big meringue in the dress she managed to find, and the garish pink bridesmaid/Maid of Honour dresses for Mallory and Amy don't flatter, either.
At the engagement party, Lou breaks up a mini-fight between Jack and Tim about who will be giving her away on the altar. She declares that she will walk herself down the aisle, thank you very much!
Meanwhile, Caleb has been trying to convince Ashley to give him another chance. Caleb the lovelorn cowboy has a plan, and when Ashley shows up to take him to the engagement party, the trailer is all cleaned up and decorated with strings of lights. She wants to know what the occasion is, and Caleb says he wants to talk to her about something. Ashely knows he wants her to go with him on the rodeo circuit, but she's not his girlfriend. He answers that maybe he doesn't want her to go with him as his girlfriend. :O :O :O
What would you want her to go as, Caleb?! Ashley wants to know. Hmm...
Alas, that private conversation is kept from our burning ears... (darn you, Heather Conkie!)
At the end of the engagement party, Tim has a private moment with Lou. He gives her a pearl bracelet he once gave to Marion before they got married, and asks that he forgive her for his outbursts. He explains he's just being an ornery old father not quite ready to let go his little girl. (aww!) Dad and daughter share that nice tender moment as Lou gratefully accepts the gift.
Promise Ring of Fire Rift
Underlying tensions between Ty and Amy finally come to a head late in the evening. It all boils down to lack of really good communication between the two. Ty seems to resent Chase (though he'll deny it to his dying day) and Amy resents Ty telling her what to do with her life (something else Ty will deny to his dying day.) Amy, while contemplating her Ring of Fire Tour aspirations, had this lovely idea that she and Ty would go together. Ty, however, had already been making his own plans for a solo road trip, something he'd been wanting to do before the obligations and responsibilities of vet school tie him down. In a heated argument, Amy finally pulls off the promise ring and thrusts it into Ty's hand and storms off. :O : O :O
Next morning (wedding day!), clever Jack knows something is amiss, and comes to Ty for an explanation. Ty says he wants a few weeks off for himself, and that Amy wasn't happy that he wanted to go someplace on his own for a while. Ty figured she'd be busy with the Ring of Fire tour to even be concerned about what he was doing. This comes as a surprise to Jack, who hadn't heard a whisper about the tour. He confronts Amy, and she gets defensive, claiming she hadn't even made a decision about it. Jack flat out tells her she's not going on her own, and she says she thought Ty would go, but that he ditched her. "Did he, now?" Jack asks, not buying a word of it. Amy reveals that they just broke up, and that she's having a hard time dealing with everything that's going on. She, too, feels the need to just 'get away', and begs Jack to come with her. He of course refuses, saying he's not going anywhere. With petulance, Amy cries "Great! I guess I'm not going anywhere, either!" Tim walks in right then for the latest crisis, and gripes: "What's wrong now?!"
Ohh, Timmie, you had to ask, didn't you... Lou has an update:
Peter's folks are stuck in Saskatoon, dontcha know, because a blizzard has shut down the airport. And it seems like the limo Jack ordered... wasn't.
Matchmaker Makes a Match
But Lou does get a break on this special day: While Amy's trying to massage the tension out of Lou's shoulders, Lisa arrives with something very special for the bride-to-be: the wedding dress (plus the ones for Amy and Mallory) that the designer claimed wouldn't be ready. Seems Lisa has a friend of a friend who knows the designer in New York. Upon hearing Lou's sad story, she pulled out all the stops to get the dresses made in time.
Shades of last season with the friend of a friend of a friend Lisa knew with the connection to some rich, attractive, single guy they thought would be just perfect for Lou... Oh, gee, what was his name again? Oh yeah: Peter Walter Morris. Yes, Lisa, you are very good at matchmaking, just as advertised. ;)
Lou truly can't believe her eyes, and doesn't know how she can thank Lisa. Lisa knows that Lou must be missing Marion at this time, and tells her she would never try to fill her shoes. But - if she ever needs anything, she's there for her. (Aww!)
When Lou steps out in her simple and elegant wedding dress, she announces to Jack and Tim that she would be honoured if they both walked her down the aisle.
After a few minutes of cold feet/last-minute jitters, Jack finally coaxes Lou out of the truck after a heart-to-heart talk about change and leaving home, and missing everyone. Lou doesn't want to lose what she has. Jack points out that if she loves Peter, she'll be gaining, not losing by marrying him.
While waiting for Lou to walk down the aisle, Val is on the phone trying to figure out where Ashley is, since she and Caleb are no-shows. Ashley tells her mother she's "fine", but Val suspiciously asks if that was Caleb's voice she heard in the background... Val is summarily shushed by the people in the pews around her.
Everything else goes off without a hitch from then on, and Peter and Lou repeat their vows before their gathered friends and loved ones. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Morris take off in a horse-drawn carriage from the church.
After seeing Lou and Peter off from Heartland, Amy wistfully tells Ty she wishes he wasn't going on his trip right then - that he could go at any other time, like in the Spring. But no, Ty says he'll be too busy at other times to do this, as he'll be working with Scott in the Spring. Amy coldly says she just doesn't want him to say goodbye, as there have been too many of those from him, and leaves the garage.
Hey (hey!), You (you!), I Could be Your Girlfr - WIFE?!
We're then treated to a quick scene of Caleb carrying Ashley over the threshold of his trailer. Ooh la-la... I've said in other quarters: Val will absolutely hit the roof when she finds out they've eloped. Clearly, the rodeo circuit superstition does not extend to spouses... I guess that's one way to solve the jinx, Mr. O'Dell... make the girlfriend the wife instead.
The episode closes out with Ty packing up his 'cycle in his truck, and taking one last, lingering look at Heartland; Amy's Ring of Fire truck-for-a-year parked up out front of the house. You can tell he's conflicted about leaving under such circumstances, but he's gotta do what he's gotta do. As he drives off, Amy chases him down on horseback. She calls out for him, and whaddaya know, the guy actually stops! Harder hearts would have kept on driving, leaving her in the dust. But Ty's such a sweetheart, isn't he? They have an emotional hug, and both apologize to each other. Amy says she doesn't want to stand in his way, and Ty says she should go on the Ring of Fire Tour. It's a nice little make-up moment for the pair. Even though it's rather been a pattern of theirs this season to fight and make up, it never got as bad as it did this time around.
Oh, yeah... and Amy asks to have back the ring. :)
And so ends Season 3 of Heartland!
Take a bow, everyone, for a job well done. I, for one, was totally amazed that the wedding happened. My fine sense of TV plot-detecting needs tuning! But I count is as plus when TV writers can surprise me in a good way, and 'In the Cards' did just that.
Noticeable absences:
Scott Cardinal. (Will we ever see you again, Scott? At least Ty mentioned that he'd be working with you in the Spring...)
Maggie Duval. (Well, Soraya was there, and I guess someone needs to mind the store, eh?)
And if you're wondering what happened to my tongue-in-cheek feature about Telephone Calls, that's been Too Corny To Continue. (And it's not necessary, as they no longer seem to interrupt the flow of the story.)
Things to Look Forward to on Heartland:
The already-announced Season 4! Filming starts pretty soon, I guess.
The much-anticipated Heartland Christmas Special, which wrapped recently this month. (Mother Nature was no help. Snow? what snow? We don't need no stinkin' snow! Well, maybe a few hundred trucks-full...)
I have to say I was really pleased to hear about the Christmas movie, because it shows just how awesome the writing staff is on Heartland. Ever since season one, the fans were begging for a Christmas-themed episode. Well, we aren't getting an episode, we're getting a 2-hour TV movie. I don't know if it was purely fan pressure that drove the powers that be to green-light a Christmas project, or if the writers had this one up their sleeve from the get-go... all I know is that it's pretty darned swell that it's become a reality.
So thanks, writing staff, for being so awesome and in-tune with the fans. No, you don't always give us what we want, which is often a very good thing, but you do give us some of what we want, and we keep coming back for more. Best of luck on Season 4!

blog whisperer? are you joking when you say there will be a new cast for season 4? if you are then DON'T DO THAT! i almost had a heart failure! [Blog Whisperer: LOL!!!] (or as mallory says in season one finale, 'i almost had an epiphany', whatever that means) why are some people so disappointed with the finale. personally i think it rocks! i couldn't have come up with a better ending myself. every single event was perfect. but as a wise person once said: ' for some people to love it, others must loathe it'. (no idea who :s) but even though i think lou made the right choice, where is scott? we haven't seen him since...what.... episode 311 'catch and release' right? is he going to be completely out of the picture now? if so, i think it would be a real shame. i've still got this question stuck in my head and i can't get rid of it: WILL WE EVER SEE BEN STILLMAN AGAIN??? i recall ashley saying he left for college or something but surely he's coming back sometime....right? wouldn't it be cool if he turned up and started a rivalry with caleb? ooh that would make a good season 4 episode!! speaking of "o'delicious".... what exactly happened between him and ashley? did they get married? if so then i bet that will go down a storm with val! even if she does like caleb now.... at least i think she does? phew! heartland has the most amazing storyline in the history of tv shows. once again- HL writers= genius!

@Karen Regarding the "inconsistent" editing...what you see there is true Alberta weather. Sunny one moment, snowing the next and even raining! I remember those 2 weeks (when they were filming the last episode back in December); there was no snow on the ground and it was beautiful weather, and then we got hit by the worst blizzard and temperatures dropped below -25C. Just yesterday it was +5C and then in the late afternoon we got plastered with snow, and now we're back to brown! So don't blame the editing. Blame Alberta weather!! lol You get what you get and you have to work with it.
Anyway, so overall this episode was BEAUTIFUL!! I'm actually glad that Lou and Peter did get married. You can tell that she really does love him. I'm so sad though that they're moving to Dubai :( Out of the entire season this is the episode where I liked Lou's (Michelle's) acting the most. She did it fantastically! I loved how she and Amy were even closer in the sister relationship.
I was stunned for a moment when Amy and Ty almost broke up! Amy does overreact a little too much. Ty is so patient with her that I just can't see the two of them ever breaking up again. It ended perfectly too!
Thank you HEARTLAND for a GREAT finale!!! I'm excited for SEASON 4 to come, and will be reading the blog as much as possible to see all the updates!!
Phoebs
ps- will there be a Season 5??!?!?!??!?!

Okay. TC is desperate to know: did the Bear, aka Twe, require a new head after viewing the Season 3 Finale?!
C'mon, Twe, show us some signs of life! No catastrophic cerebral events, please. We need you!

What a great ending to the season! I have to say, I'm surprised Lou actually did marry Peter.... I was pretty sure in the books she married Scott? Ah well, a writer's artistic license I suppose.
I can't believe so much time has passed from the start of season 3! Can't wait to see the start of season 4...
(and I agree with whoever mentioned that we call it 'universities' up here in Canada, and we don't have any "ivy league" schools, unless Ashley is ambitious..... Who are we kidding, of course she is!)

Hey there Blog Whisperer,
I know there will be some re-runs till next season, but on fridays at 1 PM there are some re-runs of season 2. And I thought it would be better if every re-run is scheduled in the calender. Also the re-runs of season 2. It would be great if you can do this.
Thanks a lot. Also to the cast and crew. The last episode was pretty awesome! ;)
Tiishirt (:
[Blog Whisperer: Absolutely! When I get the finalized repeat schedule, I'll make sure it goes in the homepage calendar!]

Sorry guys, I had to go out head shopping (again). Whew, that sounds gorier than I meant it....
Okay. Time to be brutally painfully oh-my-goodness-that's-even-WORSE-than-a-paper-cut honest. The Heartland season finale?.... was doggone awesome. Blew me away. Blew me head clean off. Blew my TV set up. The plotline, the happy ending, the new dude vying for Amy's attention, the wedding, the fighting, the getting-back together, and the glimpses of a more-mature Amy...all of it was great. Can't wait to see more.
What I can wait to see more of is Tarot cards. Twe and spiritistic practices (no matter how innocent they may seem) steer clear from each other. So even though this episode was mind-blowingly awesome, I gotta say that Mallory's sideline pretty much blew it for me. Will I ever be watching the season finale again?....no. Heartland sells itself as a family drama. To me, spiritism is not in the family criteria. I'm not a saint. I can take a little swearing, I can take a little violence--hey, I live in the same world as everyone else. But I won't take anything to do with magic. I'm hoping this was a one episode thing.
On a happier note, I'm extremely excited that Lou and Peter tied the knot, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Scot deals with this next season. Will Lou and Precious Pete really move to Dubai? Will Ty get lost on his road trip? Will Amy ever repaint her truck so that's not so ugly? Who will Mallory pick-- sweet Jake or Bad Boy Badger? Is Val going to have a seizure when she finds out her daughter has married a cowboy? Will Jack and Lisa be able to move forward with their relationship? And will Macho Mountie Mark ever get to arrest anyone? Guess we'll find out in the fall!
...wait, the fall?????? Why so far away? ....summer is a great time for seasons to start! Right! Right? ....(sigh)

DUDE!!! You have no idea how much you had me screaming in the last couple of minutes of this episode!! Lou got married and Amy asked Ty if he was really going to go and he did...And I was like "They better fix things, they can't leave the season like this" I was like in tears when Amy gave Ty the promise ring back! I totally am in love with this show, it is so crazy!!! Great ENDING!!!!!
Wait!!! Is there really going to be different cast for season 4??? NOOO!! That is just impossible!!!!! [Blog Whisperer: Yes, it is impossible, isn't it!] Grandpa Jack no one can play it better the Shaun Johnston, and Amy and Ty..Graham and Amber are so great in their characters....I LOVE ALL OF YOU>>>!!!! See you next fall!!!

As someone has already astutely commented on the crazy weather changes that occur in Southern Alberta (thanks, Phoebs), I'd like to address the college/university/Ivy League deal.
Val is rich and snooty. There's nothing wrong with being rich, but add 'snooty' to the mix, and you have a problem. Rich and snooty people like name-dropping. It doesn't matter if you're in Canada or the US, the perception exists that if you attend an 'Ivy League' university like Yale, Harvard or Princeton, you're a 'sombebody'. Besides, Val is probably rich enough to send Ashley to one, should she qualify.
If you want to write the SATs in Canada because you think you're going to, or you're planning on applying to a US University, there are certain times and designated places in the year that you're permitted to take the exam. (I know; I did it... many years ago). For all we know, Ashley already did this back in grade 11. It just really isn't all that common for a Canadian high-schooler to be stressing about PSATs and SATs, since they're not in any way required for entry into Canadian post-secondary schools.
And addressing the 'University' and 'College' bit... it makes every bit of sense that these characters would talk about 'college'. In Southern Alberta (where the fictional town of Hudson is situated), there are a few post-secondary institutions billed as 'College', as opposed to 'University'. Add in a handful of technical institutes like SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology), these characters have a lot of options for furthering their education after high school.
Within Calgary alone (a fictional hour away from Hudson), one of the colleges was only recently granted university status: Mount Royal, which was for decades known as Mount Royal College. There's a smaller Catholic institution, St. Mary's University College. Then there's the Alberta College of Art & Design...
Of course, there's the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge. In Edmonton, I know of the University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan College and NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology).
So yes, this is Canada, but Alberta has both universities and colleges.
