THE OFFICIAL HEARTLAND BLOG

It's beginning to look a lot like... Christmas?

Amy and Ty

Exactly two months after Christmas 2009, production has begun on a feature length Heartland television movie to air on CBC in 2010. Click though for more!

The cameras started rolling yesterday, and will continue for the better part of a month. The finished product will be a two hour Heartland story for you to watch in December of this year!

I'm not going to give much away, but I can tell you that there are two special guest stars appearing in the movie. Gemini Award winners Nicholas Campbell (The Englishman's Boy, Da Vinci's Inquest) and Hélène Joy (Durham County, The Murdoch Mysteries) will both play significant roles in the yet unnamed movie.

And keen eyes may recognize that the photo I've posted here is not from the movie, but rather a shot you have never seen from the finale of Season 2. I felt it was appropriate as it has Amy and Ty and it is definitely winter. I always get requests for more happy Amy & Ty photos, so this is for all of you who were wanting that!

That's all about the movie for now, because there are two exciting things happening in the very near future -

1) Of course the final four episodes of Season Three will begin airing Sunday, March 7 (only 10 days to go and counting!!!) on CBC.

And...

2) Make sure you come back here tomorrow and see a cool contest whereby you could win some extremely hot Heartland stuff.

More info tomorrow!!!

Ha! Figures they'd start filming just as Southern Alberta starts basking in the most delightful Chinook weather. I was outside today and didn't even need my winter jacket. All the snow is just a-melting away.

Maybe they're just doing interior shots for now...

Is it March 7th, yet?

Soooooo excited for this movie! I think Heartland should be 2 hours long EVERY week! LOL! Wouldn't it be great if Ty proposed and gave Amy and actual engagement ring? And Lou and Peter could have a Christmas wedding....the possibilities are endless! Keep up the great work Heartland cast and crew and I'm really looking forward to the Heartland Christmas movie.

Do you know why every year I never put up a christmas tree, when you have 2 cats and the younger one thinks I did it just for him, you wake up in the morning and the tree and the decorations are nowhere to be found /Hey I never said it was a big tree . . .lmao
Hey anything to do with heartland is ok by me, hey I would love to have my van decorated with the show Heartland on it, I drive everywhere and the show would get free advertising. Just let me know I'd be glad to do it. ;)

I am soooo looking forward to that feature episode...this case is so phenomenal...each character suited to their respective parts...
I will be back tomorrow to try my luck as a win.
I still think a contest should be held to win a trip to a live shoot of Heartland...how about as an extra...I would even shovel stalls...
Look forward to March 7 and getting back to nor mal after the Olympics....it has been a crazy 10 days.

Great News! I will definitely tell my friends and more people about this and keep reminding them to catch Heartland on Sundays at 7 PM on CBC(provided they have cable!) I guess I must be Buffalo, New York's biggest supporter of this show. I only hope more will start watching Heartland.

Will the actors from the show be playing their roles in the movie? Will Amber Marshall still be playing Amy? Graham Wardle Ty? Michelle Morgan Lou? ect...

[Blog Whisperer: It'll all be motion-captured CG, just like Avatar!]

Wow, that is awesome! Really glad it's a "real" movie and not just a christmas episode!

However Blogwhisperer, I have 2 questions for you:
I'm german, so I was just wondering if you know something about a release in Germany? (or other countries...)
I thought the next season will air like the other ones in the fall of 2010. So I was wondering if the storyline of this movie fits to the storyline of the season 4 episodes? Hopefully yes, because I think it's crazy if it wouldn't be so!

Thanks for your answers, Blogwhisperer. I'm looking forward to the movie, the next season 3 episodes and the season 4 episodes!
Tiishirt (:

So... is it going to be another episode - but like longer than usual? Or is this a totally different thing that doesn't air in March? I'm confused :P

BWA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAA. Oh, Blog Whisperer... you make me crack up. Can you imagine the expense in creating a digital Heartland world? Oh, my.

To answer seriously the question at hand (lest people really start to think it's going to be like Avatar) I've already read Michelle Morgan's Twitter page, and she's tweeted about returning to the set this week to film the movie, so she is reprising her role. I can't see why everyone else won't be back, either.

Hey,
a 2-hour movie??? That´s awesome!
But now I have got some questions:
Will this movie also run in Germany?
And can we watch it in the cinema or on TV?
It´s so stupid to live here in Germany... :(
Lots of love
