Season 3 Twelfth Episode - Sunday, January 17 at 7:00pm

Episode 312

It's been two years since Marion's death and this is a tough time for Amy, who was unable to attend the funeral because she was still in the hospital. Visiting the cemetery she finds fresh flowers on her mother's grave - a sign that Victor Whitetail (Ben Cardinal) has made a return visit to Heartland. Click though to read the rest...

Old scars are revealed however, as Tim begins wondering if Victor was more than just friends with his ex-wife. Jack's surly attitude when Victor's name is brought up doesn't put Tim's mind at ease, but at least the two men don't break into fisticuffs in this week's episode.

Throw in Kit (Tatiana Maslany) having problems with her barrel racing horse, and Ty suggesting that Amy can help, and Amy suddenly has a lot to deal with.

Meanwhile, Lou gets invited to Paris by Peter. She is overjoyed until she learns that the trip is not exactly what she had envisioned.

There's a lot happening this week on Heartland. I don't want to give away too much, but here's a tip for all you fans - make sure you stay until the very end. Right when you think the episode is winding down something will... happen.

This new episode is titled The Reckoning. It was written by Penny Gummerson and directed by TW Peacocke. Enjoy!

omg i cant wait for this one. in picture two the girl falling of the horse is that amy or kit? that fall looks like it hurts. i have had a similarto that at home and the ambulance had to be called, and it was only a minor sprain. my dad kinda over reacted with that one. lmfao.

OMG thats such a coincidence! I was just thinking this morning about Marion and how she wouldve loved to know about Amy and Lou's lives.. and about Ty, and about how Heartland is blossoming and continuing her work - she would have been so proud of everyone :)
I like Victor Whitetail and his long walks haha, he has a lot of wisdom to share :)
and that fall doesnt look good in the first picture.. i hope Amys fine.. and i hope the surprise at the end is a good one!!
A proposal is Paris? hmm but not exactly what she had envisioned.. ?
Can't Wait!! X

Hi ! This is the first time I'm posting something on this site. I've been reading all the posts ever since the very beginning and must say it's awesome !!! I LOVE HEARTLAND !! I am going through a really tough time personally and this show is the only real joy I have at this point. So thank you so much for bringing some light into my life !! I am a huge fan, have bought Season 1 on DVD and plan on buying all the other seasons on DVD as soon as they come out. I wish everyone at Heartland, the moderator and all the fans a great 2010 ! what's that supposed to mean?? i hope its got nothing to do with ty amy and kit or I will have to refuse to watch heartland ever again. sorry but kit annoyed me enough in the second season if she breaks them up again.... :S i dont think i could deal with it :(

[Blog Whisperer: Refuse to watch Heartland again? I don't think I believe you, Emma ; ) ]

They are trying to break up Amy and Ty because they havn't been totally happy and not fighting since the first episode and then Kit comes in again.
I don't know when there is not going to be any pressure on Amy and Ty and just let them have a happy relationship without any how do I say it like interceptions.

It has bin two years since Marion's death. i kind of for got that Amy's mom passed away. I do know that it has bin hard for Amy but she has got throw it. But i mean she didn't get to go to the funeral because she was still in the hospital. But she did go a visiting the cemetery where she finds fresh flowers on her mother's grave. a sign that Victor Whitetail has made a return visit to Heartland.
And now Victor Whitetail return to heartland again and we really have no clue why. But when he is there he makes Tim think if victor was more that just friends with his ex-wife Marion.
And kit is back in this episode. In this episode she is having problems with her barrel racing horse, and Ty suggesting that Amy can help, and Amy suddenly has a lot to deal with. I mean why would Ty suggesting that Amy can help, Cause Amy and kit are not really good friends weight i don't think they are even friends at all, Anyway and Ty i know he just want's to be a nice guy to kit but kit does not want him to help her. I don't know she might want Ty to help her this time but i still know that kit is going to make things really hard for Amy to help her horse and she is also going to do something that is going to make Ty and Amy fight. And i did see the preview for this episode and kit says to Amy that she is the one who is friends with your boyfriend of something like that i don't i don't remember. Anyway Meanwhile in the episode Lou gets invited to Paris by Peter. She is overjoyed until she learns that the trip is not exactly what she had envisioned. poor Lou she gets to go see peter but something happens. if i were Lou i would just bump peter. I mean i like peter but is if i barely got to see him i would not be too happy. I just think she should go back out with Scott.
Ok um now for the last part we all have to stay until the very end. Right when we think the episode is winding down something will... happen. Uh something always happens at the end. I just hope that it is not bad or too sad. Like i hope it is not that Ty and Amy breakup or that something happens to anyone.
Anyway that is all for now can't weight for the episode talk o u guy later =P

Love Victoria =P

Nothing better happen to Amy and Ty, they seem to have a really good relanionship right now. I've been thinking and am wondering if Victor had feeling for Amy's mom and she didnt feel the same way. Think at the end of the episode that Lou and peter break up. thats what i thought was going to happen at the end of the last one from the way Lou was talking and it seems like Peter is going to paris for work and wants Lou to come. i really hope that kit doesnt bring trouble with her for amy and ty

Holly wrote:

This looks like an interesting episode but i agree with jenna...they keep trying to break ty and amy up and if kit is teh one to do it again i would be really upset. I really dont like kit she just gets in the way with their relationship. I think they should just let ty and amy be for a while...they've ahd enough drama over the past few episodes.

And I kind of agree with Tim because in the second/first (I'm not sure) season I was wondering that too!
I hope Kit doesn't ruin anything again!!!!! And I hope Ty and Amy get closer because in the last episode I noticed them(Ty) kind of wanting to be apart.....so sad:(.
Well I can't wait and see-just like all the other episodes!!!! What do you mean something will...happen???!!!!!

But why, right around the two year mark of Marion's death, is Ty suggesting that Amy work with Kit and her barrel pony? I think Amy needs some time to reflect rather than work work work. Hmmm... I am interested to see how this plays out.

I love this serie for many reasons.I like the characters, and the actors are very good and very well chosen. The settings are so beautiful. The music and the songs perfectly match the pictures. There is something magic in Heartland.Everything is perfect (as long as Amy and Ty stay together).

Kathryn wrote:

I do not think anyone is trying to break up anyone - Amy, Kit, Ty wise. I remember how worried some were when Ty was helping at Kit's place with the foal. Kit presented herself like a real cowgirl with her head held high. Sure there was some bitterness, but in the end, she came around. Amy was also very mature about the situation ... in time. I think they have all grown up a little.

But we will see I suppose. I'm excited that Victor is back!

Sounds like this Sunday will be a good episode, as usual. I thought there was more to the relationship between Marion and Victor the last time he was on the show. As far with the whole Scott-Lou-Peter thing, I have a feeling that Peter is going to ask Lou to marry him, but she'll turn him down. She's already said how frustrated she is with him not being there for her. They've already covered the fact that Scott regrets letting Lou go. That's just my thoughts on it.

Looking forward to Sunday night's episode.

You're the best!

Nice to see Kit back. I actually like having her on the show. I hope she and Ty will still remain friends, and that she and Amy become better friends so that their isn't so much hardness, regret or anger. I know a lot of you don't like Kit, but we need her on the show just as much as we need Amy. We can't have what we want all the time, and if we did....well, life would be boring! There would be nothing to work towards, nothing to learn from and just plain 'ol nothing to do! Kit has grown on me just as Caleb has. I never used to like them because they were 'the rivals', but they have their purposes in everything. Thank you Heartland for making such a great show! I love how different it is from anything else on TV :)

I actually really liked this episode. I loved where peter proposed to lou and in my mind it was better than paris. Sure, paris would have been romantic but having him propose at heartland just feels kinda specail. I laughed when he was like " it was the first place where we made hot.......chocolate" jhaha i just thought that was funny and i thought he was going to say something else there :P . I was kinda worried about kit being back in the episode but i think it was fine adn she didnt really put a strain on ty and amy's relationship but i still dont really like her. I guess thats just my opinion. I liked that Victor was back, hes got alot of wisdom to pass on to many people. The actors did such a great job and i cant wait for sunday as usual :)

Another Sunday passes, and with it another good ol' solid Heartland episode. There was something about this one which felt extremely true-to-life, and I can put my finger exactly on what it was: Tim. Boy oh boy, does Tim ever have his flaws. But when we saw his face when Jack was yelling at him, and later as he knelt by Marion's grave... I have reason to believe that Tim may very well be one of the most complex characters on Heartland, right up there with Jack. When you are made to feel sympathy for even the most unlikable character, that is a sign that that character is very...real. Kudos to Chris Potter, he did an excellent job with this episode.

And how could this episode not be great with Precious Pete proposing to Lou? I was starting to get worried they were going to break up. But no! And she said yes! Good for Lou, and Pete, and hot chocolate, which is a very solid foundation for a relationship.

Watching this episode was a little bit different, because my Grandma from Halifax was visiting. Now, you guys all have Grandmas, and I'm guessing a lot of them are a little similar to mine. Let's put it this way: did I take my grandma to see "Avatar"?....uh, no, she's my grandmaw, for goodness' sake! .... But did she enjoy watching Heartland with us? .... uh, YES, because it's such a family drama, that everyone in the family can watch it! In fact, my other grandma who lives near Toronto watches it every Sunday! So thumbs up to Heartland, that I didn't get a scolding about watching inappropriate TV shows. Phewwwww....

Thank you Heartland crew for putting something on TV for young people that is not filthy! You have done a wonderful job! Many blessings to you all. You should all be very proud of yourselves!

Love it when Tim says, 'Martha Stewart didn't like the fence....'. !!!! LOL Tim is actually really great in this episode. I laughed to so hard when Jack said, "So are you going to talk all day or dig the hole' and Tim says,'.....dig the hole'. Haha This episode was great!
I laughed so hard when Kit said, 'You were wondering why Scott wasn't wearing a bathing suit....when you woke up?' wow. She's hilarious! Didn't like how she reacted to Amy though.
It's so true how Victor says that Lou is the fire in the middle of her family. She's the one that really keeps it going. Good for her. Even though she can be so frustrating at times, she is the one that really helps this family stick together...she and Jack...
I love Victor!! 'Come for a walk' (amy) 'great, a walk (meaning oh no, not another walk!!!)'. lol

Great episode everyone!!!

So,Peter and Lou are supposed to get married.I haven't seen episode 12 because I live in France (by the way, does anybody know when season 3 is going to be aired in France?Maybe Blog Whisperer could find this information, please ).However I have read all the comments about it.
Here is my opinion about Lou/Peter/Scott.First Lou/Peter.I think Peter is perfect:very kind, clever, gentlemanlike, helpful, friendly, generous and he is also attractive.Have you ever met such a man in real life? Moreover he is rich.He is too perfect. He doesn't fit in Heartland ( I mean the ranch, not the show ).
If Lou gets married with him, what will happen? Will she live in a city? Will she go with her husband on his numerous trips?I can't imagine Heartland without Lou.Even if Amy is the central character Lou and Jack are indispensable.
Secondly Lou/Scott.Scott is not perfect at all.Do you remember how he let her down all of a sudden?Lou had refused what she wanted( a good job in New York )because Scott had told her he loved her and he would follow her wherever she went.Later he reproaches her to be too busy. But Lou needs to be busy, she is an active woman. Moreover, when she takes time to be with him he spoils the day and finally he lets her down.Later he doesn't act nicely to her.In season 1 Scott was kind and always present for Lou.In season 2 he looked like a selfish macho man.
So,I think that if Scott is like in season 1 Lou should marry him.If he remains the same as in season 2 she'd better find a third man.

Lou and Peter are getting married!!! :D I cant wait for the wedding episode (if theres one.. i hope there is!)
That was such a nice memorial ride, i like how they incorporate native american wisdom into the show :)
And another horse healed thanks to Amy! I liked how Victor compared her attitude when healing the miracle horse in episode 1 and Daisy..
Can't wait for next week! Looks intense.. season 3's turning out great - new surprises and events around every corner!

@Loraleigh I absolutely agree with you. The reason why so many people are attracted to Heartland is because it is wholesome and doesn't have so much of the usual junk people throw into TV shows nowadays. People are tired of that, we want something that the entire family can watch. Thank you Heartland!! Please keep the show coming!!

Hey OMG i can't believe that Peter proposed to Lou! It is so...weird. I think Amy is jealous of Ty hanging around Kit. Episode 14 THE STRANGEST NAME EVER 'The Happy Line'? I have heard of a lot of strange titles but that is on top five weird titles. Any way can't wait for Episode 13!

Well this episode of Heartland ranks up there as one of the best. Shaun Johnston (Grampa Jack) and Chris Potter (Tim) are so amazing together. They are truly skilled actors. Tim is actually starting to get to our hearts a bit. When he went to Marion's grave it was very touching. The last scene when Peter asks Lou to marry him was fantastic!!!!!!!! The setting was beautiful the lighting was gorgeous and we are so glad Lou said yes. It made me cry. We thought it was great that Amy was healing Kits horse. Kit needs to lighten up a bit with Amy. She new that Ty's heart was always with Amy. Anyways another amazing episode. Thanks for making our Sundays end so perfectly. Can't wait till next week. Keep em coming CBC!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this episode. Ok, I am biased because we got a lot of Tim. Yay :) There were some really great scenes in this ep especially the ones with Jack and Tim. I love those. Chris and Shaun are so great together. And I am glad to see that they are actually found a way to get along. Tim listens what Jack has to say and does not run off or only yells back at him.
I really understand Tim’s behaviour in the beginning. Ok some would say there’s the jerk again but you have consider that no one told him what was really going on, so he drew his own conclusions.
I think we really have to accept his hot temper as part of the character; he will never become that picture perfect daddy. But I have to admit as a fan of Chris that I enjoy it because it gives him more opportunity to show what a fine actor he is. Nevertheless I hope that he will act like a jerk or an overgrown baby less frequently in the upcoming episodes ;)
Victor Whitetail was wonderful. Hope to see him more often. Tim could be really happy to have him as an opponent. Someone that is so considered and wise. Perhaps Tim should spend some time with him to learn what is really important in life and that all things need time. For example get a family back together and reclaim their trust after you have abandoned them.

And once again we could see that Marion is still holding a very special place in his heart and that he never stopped loving her. I looooved the last scene when he visited her grave. There were no words necessary; you just had to look at Tim’s face.

Wow what a great episode. I know I was crying. What a lot of action all in one episode, well done. Keep up the great work we just love watching this show, we even rush back from doing our own horses to make sure we do not miss this.

I agree that this episode was really great - I think it may even have been my favourite. One thing they did that made it that much more successful: they took out the extra characters like Ashley, Caleb and Ashley's Mom, giving the other characters enough time to have a full storyline. Obviously, I still love Ashley and Caleb, but I think they deserve to have more airtime on their own episode, instead of the "quick takes" that we usually see crammed into a weekly episode.
So good job to these writers!
I loved how this episode delved more into the past and character development! I agree with another blogger here: I think Tim may be the most complex character on the episode. It was great to see them explore that more. And always ALWAYS love to see Jack and Tim together!!!!
As for Kit, UGH, I can't stand that character! She really should have apologize to Amy!! She is such a flat character.
Can't wait for the next one!

I have just watched episode 12. It is really great.Congratulations to the whole Heartland crew! You manage to make each episode look the best. That is why we love Heartland so much.As usual the actors were very good, especially Shaun Johnston and Chris Potter.I also really enjoyed this episode because of the presence of Victor Whitetail. He brings wisdom and a touch of spirituality which add to the magic of Heartland.
