If you happen to be in the Calgary area this Sunday (December 6) afternoon, here is something very Heartlandish that you can do before you go home to watch the new episode on CBC at 7:00pm. Click though to the full blog post for details!
The doors open at 2:00pm and at 2:30pm the puck will drop at the Max Bell Arena on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Ice Challenge, which will feature the Heartland Mustangs vs a media team headed by Rob Kerr of THE FAN 960.
It should be a ton of fun! In addition to the hockey game there will be other things going on, such as a live auction during the second intermission. Items to be auctioned include clothing (Western shirt and cowboy hat) worn by Amber on set, a set visit during the filming of Heartland (yes, you heard me!) and a trail ride with Shaun Johnston and Amber Marshall at the Rafter 6 Ranch. Which I'm sure would be no fun at all...
There are non-Heartland items being auctioned also, including an hour with Calgary Flames' Adam Pardy at your team practice, game, or school activity and 4 tickets to an upcoming Flames game.
Now, if you want to bid on the items but (like me) can't attend the game you can still do so by going to www.centreicechallenge.com and clicking 'AUCTION ITEMS' on the right-hand side.
On the same page you can also click on 'ROSTERS' where you will see some of the players who will suit up for each team.
The Heartland Mustangs will include Shaun Johnston, Nathaniel Arcand, Chris Potter and Jake Church, as well as executive producer Jordy Randall and various crew members, aided by a ringer (6-time world gold medal and 2-time Olympic gold medal winner Cassie Campbell!)
The doomed opponents - Rob Kerr's All Stars, will include -of course, Rob Kerr, host of The Hot Stove Lounge on the FAN 960, as well as other prominent Calgary media, aided by ex-NHLers Gord Shervin, Colin Patterson, Sheldon Kennedy, Mark Astley, Perry Berezan and Women's National Team Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Kelly Bechard.
So come out to the game. It'll be great! Please make a donation at the door, which will go to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and area.
If they are not playing in the game, many Heartland cast members will be there to cheer on the Mustangs and to meet fans afterwards. Besides Shaun, Chris, Jake, and Nathaniel - who are playing - there will be Amber (Amy), Michelle Morgan (Lou), Jessica Amlee (Mallory), Jessica Steen (Lisa) and of course Graham Wardle (Ty).
If you are in the Calgary area they hope to see you there. For full details go to www.centreicechallenge.com

Wow! Too bad that I won't be able to go to the game :( But I'm glad that at least you can bid online! I either want to go on the trail ride or Heartland set. I've been to Rafter 6 before, and it's okay. But it will be way more fun with Amber and Shuan! Wow. That would be amazing.
Well, to all of you people who are going, HAVE FUN and good luck!! I'll be cheering for Heartland!

This is kinda weird, cause I went to the auction page and it said that it closed on December 5th, so now you can't place a bid. Wonder if it will open during 2nd intermission... hope so!

This long hiatus is so unfair!!!!!! Broken Arrow is such a sad episode and now we have to wait until the New Year to watch it! :( I'm actually crying because of how frustrated I am. :(
