THE OFFICIAL HEARTLAND BLOG

Got a question for Graham? Sure you do!

Ask Graham

As I said last week, every week or so from now on you're going to have the opportunity to "interview" one of the talented actors who help bring Heartland to life. Last week we kicked things off with Shaun Johnston, who plays the patriarch Jack. I'll be posting his answers tomorrow, so stand by!

This week it's Graham Wardle, who of course plays Ty Borden. The picture above has him posing with the Grey Cup along with some shots of him in character:

It's fitting to use this photo of Graham and the Grey Cup again as because of the Grey Cup game this Sunday there won't be a new episode of Heartland (but there WILL be one the week after, so don't miss it!) Anyway, this gives you time to come up with a good question for Graham.

So, in the comments, leave ONE question that you'd like to ask him - it can be about acting in general, his thoughts about the show and his character, behind-the-scenes scoop, or really... whatever you want! Make sure you read the other comments to ensure your question hasn't already been asked.

Also, if you're reading this post on the Heartland Facebook page, remember you have to come back to the original post post here on http://www.cbc.ca/heartland/blog to ask your question, rather than the Facebook comments!

I will close the comments on Thursday, November 26 (at about 4PM Eastern Standard Time) and we will pick a large selection, he'll answer them, and next week I'll post his answers.

And then we'll do it again with someone else!

So, what do you want to ask Graham? He is as curious as I am. Remember: One question.

What was the most exciting thing you experienced at the set of Heartland?

Like everyone else, really love the show and enjoy your realistic and "heart" warming portrayal of Ty. Heartland, in my opinion, wouldn't be the success it is without you, Graham!! And speaking of realistic wanted to comment on the great wardrobe selections for everyone on Heartland. Wardrobe is re-used and makes the family look normal by NOT having something new all the time and especially Ty. We see the same t-shirts/clothing in different episodes which would make sense as Ty is working saving money for school so doesn't have extra cash for clothes shopping but more important his character is not into fashion! So my question is, do you have any input on your t-shirt/wardrobe selection, Graham? Reason I ask is while I appreciate the continuity of the wardrobe, the colours you wear (or are chosen for you) are all the same (NB see photos above) grey, brown, tan - very dull colours.

Hey Graham...just wanted to start off by saying you rock in the role of Ty! Yepper, you are totally believable and very talented, and as I am sure a lot of fans will be saying, you bring a lot into the character and now you are part of alot of families in Canada (and world wide)! My question is: Outside of Heartland, what role would you love to do? Everyone has a role that in their minds would be a dream role, whether it's doing Shakespeare, a historical drama that's based back in the middle ages, the hero in some supercharged action flick, a comedic slapstick role or would you like to try your hand at being a villian taking over the world (just a few examples)...just kinda curious!?!

Hey @Twe maybe we can get Graham to help pilot the starship!!!?

Again, awesome job Dude!!!!

Thank you!

Graham,
I'm a big fan of your character Ty Bordon, the Heartland books and of the TV show!!! I was soo excited to find out that Canada was making a TV show off of the books by Lauren Brook. From the books, Ty is a couple years older than Amy. I was wondering what your age is? And is this similar to the book, are you older than Amber Marshall who plays Amy?

Happy Trails,

Hey Ty/Graham,
My question for you is: are you just acting or do you like LIKE/love Amber? I mean I bet Amber likes you. Wouldn't it be sort if awkward kissing a friend of yours for the whole world to see? I guess that just acting. Anyways, I hope if there is going to be a next season, that you ask Amy to marry you. You are very hot. Just to let you know. You could get very far with you're good acting and looks. Keep up the good work.
Love ya.

Hey, Graham, it was great meeting you & the rest of the cast at Chapters on Sunday...you were all very gracious, friendly & enthusiastic..thank you so much. I know it must've been a long & tiring day but you were still full of p--- 'n vinegar as they say. It would be exciting if the cast could go to Europe & other countries where Heartland is showing for a book signing session - think of all the great pics you could take! It's known that you're a fantastic photographer...have you thought of going the way of Bryan Adams & having your pictures shown in a gallery sometime in the future? Do you have a specific subject you like to photograph more than others? It would be awesome to see some of your photographs. Hope to see you on the skytrain again one day & next time I'll chat more instead of being tongue-tied in awe of meeting you (LOL)...silly ole Granny. By the way, you're doing an absolute A-1 job in your role as Ty.

So many questions to ask! Hope you're having fun reading all of them. Okay, well, I think I have finally picked a question. You see, when I'm watching Heartland, I kind of forget that I'm watching actors and I feel like I am watching real people (Ty Borden--figured I should put you first because this is supposed to be about you--Amy Flemming, Lou, Jack, etc). And yes, I know that is the desired effect. However, it always intrigues me when I take a step back to think about what it's like for the actors. And now I have finally arrived at my question: how does it feel to have all these teen girls freaking out over you and constantly commenting on the blog about how hot they find you? Is it weird or do you secretly like it? Thinking about how I would react to that situation (which requires considerable imagination since it's unlikely that I will ever become a TV star), I suspect that there would be mixed feelings. But that is all speculation on my part, so let us know what you think!

Hey Graham,
I am 21 and have been reading the Heartland book series since I was in 15. I have to say, when I heard that CBC was making a show based off the books I really didn't want to watch it. The books are so fantastic, I didn't think the show would be able to come close to the books or have the characters portrayed the way they are in the book. But I started watching and now love the show just as much. After getting the part of Ty, did you read the books at all to understand the character of Ty better? And what were you doing before you got the part of Ty?

You're an excellent actor, i like how you work so hard to make Ty come to life. so i heard that you like taking pictures and i was wonder: when you have a camera in your hands, what do you prefer taking a picture of? The landscape or protrait picture? cuz i have notice some really nice scenic backgrounds which makes me wish i was there... to take some picture

Thanks for your time and have a great day. Likewise to everyone else, i love watching Heartland and espcially you and Amber!

your awesome playing Ty Borden. I was really excited to see Heartland on the internet. I read the books when I was younger and really enjoyed them. I always look forward to watching it in the UK. You and Amber do an awesome job. I rode for 3 years and I miss it thinking of getting back into it makes me envious watching Heartland. I'd love to ride western and canter in the countryside looks amazing and those views to. I know horses are very senstive to what they feel with someone on there back. My question is whats your advice on riding outside if your a bit nervous or scared about it. I liked riding in the inside but I want to know anything on how to improve on it.
I hope the cast come to Scotland sometime that would be amazing.
Keep doing a great job and best of luck to you and all the cast of Heartland, Healing horses healing hearts.

Bonjour Graham!
Keep up your good work! It sounds like you have a great personality both as Ty and as yourself (dont let all those teenage girls go to your head too much though!).
Especially in season two, us heartland fans were often left with teary eyes and broken hearts at the end of episodes in which things didn't go so well between Ty and Amy. To make matters worse we always had to wait a week wondering if you two would reconcile. My question is whether you guys felt sort of badly after filming those scenes too until you finally 'kissed and made up'?

Keep on keepin' on

p.s. I really hope you answer that deserted island question!

Will you marry me? xD Nono, I'm just kidding. My pony would get jealous.

Anyways, on to the real question! I'm just wondering, if you ever had the chance to write your own episode of Heartland, what do you think you'd have more of? Comedy, Romance, Drama, Action, Horses, Vehicles, a combination of a few, etc...?

By the way, I think you are an amazing actor! Keep up the great work, Graham! I hope you enjoy filming Heartland as much as we love watching it!

After heartland do you think you would do worked work with horses or are you just not a horse guy?

Hi Graham!

I just wanted to say how inspiring it is watching Heartland. I have really loved watching the show since it first came out, and learn so much from each episode. I find it helps with everyday life a lot, because a lot of the things that happen in Heartland happen to people all over the world, and I think it's great for people who have been in certain situations to learn from a show like this.

Okay, so my question!!

When you finish filming which people are the ones you miss the most? How do yous stay in touch with them?

Thanks!!

But anyways, I was wondering, what kind of things would you like to see happen to Ty in the future, whether it be with his relationship with Amy or future plans or something?

2) Are you and Amber Marshal dating in real life?
3) Is there going to be a season 4 coming up? Or answer how many seasons there are going to be.
4) In your opinion what do you think of your character "Ty Borden"?
5) Who are you most closest to out of the cast in general?
6) While you play Ty, whats it like to have to fight someone? But just when you acting.

Anyway if u answer my questions, thanks a lot for answering them for me! I just wanted to let you know my dream. My dream is to come to the Heartland set and meet the whole cast and maybe even be in one of the episodes. I would LOVE for the to happen. Anyway...

Hey Graham! So first off I just want to say that you are so great! I do a little bit of acting myself and from an acting POV when you play Ty you're so real. I have been watching Heartland from the very beginning and I have laughed and cryed which I feel are so important; actors need to be able to connect with the viewers emotions through their characters, and you really do that so well and I can't imagine any other actor playing Ty, so great job! now since that was really corny and dumb I'll get to my question which is:
When you recieve fan mail/meet fans do you truly like to get to know them and create a special bond/relationship/friendship with them or is just part of the job? I mean do all the screaming girls just get annoying to you and you really could care less about another random letter about someone saying how fabulous you are..

-Amanda
Summerland BC
P.S. you should definetly come down to a town near Summerland sometime, Summerland is this tiny lame town so I could see why you wouldn't want to come here but maybe Kamploops, somewhere a little closer than Vancouver..?

Hello Graham,
First off I'd like to say I really enjoy watching your portrayal of Ty; you embody him in a very human and believable way that has allowed the character to grow over the seasons. Great Work! I beleive you are a rather energetic and fun loving guy who enjoys comedy. My Question: What do you draw from to give such perfect intensity to your dramatic scenes? The emotion in your face is right on in these scenes!

I certianly hope you won't be abscent from Heartland episodes, despite the story line of Ty going to University ( I really want to see him achieve this though.)

Best of luck with all your work on Heartland and other pursuits.

Hi Graham
What is the nicest thing about being an actor?
For me it's the fact that the actor can makes us share his character's feelings.
You are doing a wonderful on Heartland!

Best wishes from France
Charlotte

Hey,
I'm lovin' season 3, and I'm like addicted to Heartland :) I must add that I really enjoy this new segment where we get to question the cast too!
Anyway, here's my question for Graham:

How would you describe your relationship with Amber off the set of Heartland?

Love the show! Keep up the good work!
Katherine :D

PS. You should really consider visiting the Maritimes...there are so many fans here!

Hi Graham!

Who is the funniest actor (or actress) to work with on the show?
By the way, thanks for what you bring to the show. I think you've done a very good job with the changing of your character from season one until now. :)

Hi,
I watch the first episode of the season 4 and I love it! Heartland is my favorite tv show because I really love horses. My dream is to live in a place like Heartland... and have a boyfriend like TY! :) Seriously Graham, you are amazing in Heartland and, for sure, you are my favorite actor! And you are the most beautiful!!! :)
My question for you is: Do you love Amber in the real life or she's just a friend?!

Hey Graham, love the show. you are such a good actor and I'm jealous. I love acting and wish i could be on that show. Looks sooooo fun and like family. i don't know if it feels like that or just a job, but anyway.

I am not really sure what my question is cause i had a lot but I've seen other people ask them to the other actors and they were answered so my question: How do you film all the driving scenes like flying down the highway or whatever. and in town @ Maggie's Diner is that around the ranch or is it really a ways away..... and I'm sure people have asked you this but are you and amber together in real life???? You should be you're sooooo cute together. Love you all. You do an AWESOME job!!!!!!!
