It's the first post of July and all is quiet on the production front, with the cast and crew taking a well deserved hiatus after filming 4 episodes! Read on...
Well, not ALL of the cast are completely relaxing, but they sure are enjoying themselves. For example, you probably know that Michelle Morgan was married this past Saturday in Whistler, BC, and several Heartland cast members --both past and present-- were there to partake in Michelle and Derek's celebration.
And Amber Marshall was also engaged to her boyfriend Shawn, who popped the question to her in a romantic moment last week. Now if only Ty would take the hint and catch up on Heartland!
So hearty (Heartlandy?) congratulations to both of the series' lead actresses!
Now as most of you are aware, the biggest annual celebration that Calgary has to offer --the Calgary Stampede-- is about to get underway and this one is most special because it is the one hundredth edition of the fair and rodeo. It is amazing how the entire city embraces the celebration of cowboy culture and heritage, and two of Heartland's cast are going to be involved.
Shaun Johnston, Heartland's Jack, along with Suhana Meharchand of the CBC News Network, will be hosting a CBC Live Red Carpet event on the Stampede grounds and then he will be appearing in a CBC Network Special on the 100th Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. That one-hour special will be broadcast tonight on CBC. You can find out more about it here, and at 5:30 MT you can catch the live stream of the red carpet event right here (remember, there will be no video at that link until 5:30 Calgary time!) Watch for it though!
But Shaun's involvement doesn't end there! Tomorrow, both he and Amber will be riding in the Calgary Stampede Parade as it winds its way through the downtown core. They'll both be on horseback and will be riding in front of the High River entry. If you are able to be there in person among the many lining the streets to watch the floats, bands, clowns, animals, riders and celebrities that will be marching in the 100th Stampede parade tomorrow morning, make sure you wave at Shaun and Amber when they pass you!
If you can't attend the parade live you still have a chance to see Amber and Shaun, as Amber will again be street hosting on horseback for the televised coverage of the parade, which will be broadcast once again by the CBC. It's tricky to be interviewing someone when both of you are on horseback, but Amber's a natural at it and she probably will get a chance to speak with Shaun, just before the two of them mount up to join the parade.
For the last three years Amber was roving the parade with a microphone conducting her televised interviews, but she was confined to a two block area. This year she'll be able to say "Howdy" to everyone along the entire parade route!

Speaking of not much changing, this past Monday's Time Killer Puzzle stumped a lot of you, but as usual the keen eyes and wits of many Heartland fans were able to recognize the Spruce Meadows' mare and foal (the 4th photo on the blog) as being the statue that had appeared before in a photograph on this blog, and that was back on December 15, 2011. Below is that photo, along with another photo taken in broad daylight from the same angle.
Now I wrote on Monday that the first 4 people to correctly come up with the date, and one random other correct person not in the first 4, might find themselves very happy that they did!
Well, congratulations to Josie Dinsmore, Rachel, Nikita Wight and Susanne Jones who were the quickest to post the December 15, 2011 answer to the puzzle, and congrats as well to Colleen McInnis, who was randomly drawn from all the rest of the entries! Each of you will be mailed a cast photo from Heartland, autographed by all of them. I'll be emailing you over the next day or so to get your contact information!
So once again we move seven days closer to the September 23 premiere of Season 6, as we now just face 80 days before a new episode of Heartland debuts.
In the meantime, this Sunday at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) there will be a repeat episode from Season 5 airing on CBC Television. This episode, #512, premiered on January 22 of this year.
This is the dramatic episode when Ty and Jack go off on a motorcycle trip. More photos and a description of the episode can be found here.

At the risk of being a wise guy, I think Shaun should be on the left side of the poster and Amber on the right (even though she is the lead- first on the call sheet.) Shaun in all his glorious ruggedness better represents 1912 whereas Amber's freshness and wholesome youth could not be more 2012.

I really want to watch the episode where Mrs.Bell agrees to be Ty's honorary grandmother. But i dont know what episode it is. Could you maybe tell me what season and episode it is. I just got to say this is my most favorite show EVER I have watched every single episode in all 5 seasons! I love the characters and the plot to the story.
