Even though it seemed like a really long time before we all knew that there was going to be a 6th Season of Heartland, once production started this past Monday CBC was quick to have a crew from CBC LIVE on set, to film some interviews with the cast members and to capture some of the cast and crew doing what they do best. The CBC team --Jamey and Adam-- were on set for most of the day and were able to shoot a lot of great footage that will be coming your way little by little! Read on!
On that note for a moment, did you notice that there are --just like last year-- daily tweets coming from the set every day of production, that it's not just me on Twitter?? Yes, my spies are back! And sometimes they reveal things that even I'm not aware of! If you follow Heartland on Twitter you may be among the first to find out something I don't know about yet! For example, yesterday this was tweeted in the morning - "Day 3 of production and already we have actors returning from past seasons... though today's cast member was not in Season 5." Now I have to find out who that is, and to be honest I didn't even know there was someone returning from a past season. (Hmmm... I may have to send my spies more swag!)
The point is, if you want to be as up to date on all things Heartland as you can be, besides reading these Thursday blog posts (and honing your skills every Monday on the "Monday Time Killer") and liking and following Heartland on Facebook, you really should follow Heartland on Twitter it's easy, and there is stuff about the show there that you will NOT find anywhere else!
Now as for the Monday Time Killer, a lot of you reported that you had fun solving the 4-letter word ladder. See how each word only changes one letter to form the new word? A tip to help you solve future puzzles like this - if you're stuck on a word, solve the words before and after it and you should be able to figure it out!
Now I should explain what's going on in all of the photos posted today. They were all taken yesterday as the CBC LIVE crew had their day on set.
This first shot is of the Heartland Production crew setting up a shot near the entrance to the ranch. You can see the Heartland barn and ranch house in the background.
This one was taken from the monitors where the director can watch what is being filmed. In the background the wranglers are getting the horses ready for a tricky stunt.
Here's the Wrangling Captain, Ray Breckenridge, overseeing and making sure all the animals are doing what they are supposed to.
These next three photos are of CBC LIVE's crew interviewing some of the cast members they spoke to. That's Graham Wardle (Ty), Amber Marshall (Amy) and the last photo is our first look on set of 10-year-old Alisha Newton, who has joined the cast of Heartland for Season 6.
And while Amber was having her interview her super cute dog China was lying nearby, enjoying the late afternoon sun!

Now I'm going to answer a few of your recent questions.
Sarah wrote (about the word ladder), Very entertaining! took about 10 minutes, but I recruited help from my Mother. Is that cheating??
It's never cheating asking your mom or dad for help, unless it is a real test in school, it which case texting them to find out an answer would probably be frowned upon.
<3land <3er wants to know what Mrs. Bell's first name is.
It's only been spoken twice in the five seasons of Heartland so far so that is indeed a tough one. As Heartland fan Major_Wizard helpfully answered in the comments, her first name is Sally!
Brittany asks, When will we get to see a clip of the first episode of Season 6 and will Ty finally ask Amy to marry him in the first episode?
Previews will be coming closer to the premiere date in the fall. And although that date has not been announced yet I expect it'll be made known over the next couple of months. As soon as I know you will know! Will Ty ask Amy to marry him? Good question; I'm kind of wondering about that myself. :D
Sarah asks, I would like to send a fan mail letter to Amber and one to Graham. I was just wondering if you could tell me where to send them?
Sarah - scroll up on this page and look on the right column. You will see "Fan Mail" listed right under the episodes. Click on that and all will be revealed. And if you want to make sure a letter goes directly to a specific cast member make sure you address it to him or her.

Those are background actors --they just happen to be horses! They are brought in on days when filming takes place at the ranch.

I doubt there will be a 2-hour special, or else fans would expect the same for the 200th, 300th and 400th episodes! :D Seriously though, although it may just (!) be another great episode, you can be sure that there will be something special happening around the 100th episode of Heartland, and I'll let everyone know about it long before it happens!

Yes! Most countries in Europe are licensed to play Heartland and Germany is indeed one of them.

And lastly, on last Thursday's post Hally wrote the following -
If, as someone above said they heard a rumor about, Amy were to ditch Ty for Chase, the ratings would drop to below sea level. As sadistic as the writers have been in the past toward the Heartland audience when it comes to our favorite couple, I don't think they'd go there now. Worst case scenario is that Amy says no and they go their separate ways. Not that I think that will happen. If it did, that would be a case of self-immolation by the producers because no one would watch the show afterwards. In fact, the mood across Canada would probably be almost as bad as if the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team lost the Gold Medal game in OT to Bermuda. Perhaps the writers are sadists, but they're not masochists :>)! I'm sure they want to keep the show going for as long as possible. Maybe even beat Beachcombers?! Can you say... "Grandpa Ty."
There's no question there, but this comment brought such a smile to my face I had to repost it here to make sure everyone saw it.
Don't worry, Hally. Although I wouldn't necessarily agree with you about the writers being 'sadistic' I'm sure you know that the many fans of Heartland are not going to need to rise up in revolt because of Amy winding up with Chase Powers! :)
Well, that was a good note to end the post on. And so is this: I can confirm that this Sunday at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) there'll be a repeat broadcast of episode 406 - "Win, Place or Show" playing right across Canada on the full CBC network.
I hope you can watch it; I certainly am going to catch that one again!

Thanks for the shout-out BW, and mostly for what I think ? was reassurance that Amy's not going to ditch Ty for Chase! I always feel badly for Torrance Coombs the actor for having to play Chase the villain. He obviously did a Gemini Award deserving performance doing it! Maybe Grandpa Ty can invite Chase and his wife Granny Blair over to Heartland for a non-alcoholic beer or glass of warm milk in Season 56. I also hate to take the writers to task for anything, as they are obviously an amazingly talented team. Probably the best ever. I am continually blown-away by how they manage to successfully weave all the many layered storylines together so seemlessly, week after week, year after year. However, they have messed with our minds "enough already" regarding Amy's and Ty's relationship!!, and my guess is that 99.9% of Heartland viewers/fans would be completely heartbroken if Ty and Amy were ever to break-up again.

Just a note on Mallory, In the books that this series is loosely based from, Mallory goes to Nashville and then stars in her own series "Chestnut Hill" Amy Fleming actually appears for at least one of the books or so I have read in the reviews. With this replacement happening I am wondering if they are thinking of starting a new series in a couple of years based on the Chestnut Hill series. I would think this would be the opportune moment to start on that series but i also know that it would detract viewers away from Heartland so I can see the pros and cons of starting up a new series. However I can think of at least two other series that ran together but also were in the same field that just helped each other along pulling even more viewers. This would just have to be a chance the producers and CBC would have to discuss if they would want to take that chance.

I just have to say this is an incredible programme. I'm from Scotland, so it's so cool seeing the Canada culture displayed through the storylines. Heartland is only on season 4, i think, here- so I use your blog to keep up to date. This programme has, unlike many, managed to retain its viewers and keep coming up with new plots.

I live in the U.S. Though at one time my family watched Heartland weekly on GMC, which is the only channel showing it in the U.S., we have begun watching it on YouTube since we can't see online due to the fact that we don't live in Canada. We've caught up to current episodes and are eagerly awaiting season six!
