THE OFFICIAL HEARTLAND BLOG

Thursday, February 9 - A NEW Heartland returns this Sunday!

A Photo from Heartland episode 513

Nice photo, right? Ahem... okay, this Sunday, February 12 --just in time for Valentine's Day-- we get a brand new episode of Heartland! I know a lot of you have been anxiously awaiting it (because of something do do with the picture above?) and with it will come a ghost from Heartland's past. Click through to the blog to read about it!

Now that wait in between new episodes wasn't so bad was it? It was? Well, it's almost over now!

If you recall, we last saw Ty crash his bike while attempting to avoid hitting a wolf. Jack also crashed his motorcycle, but he is by far the less injured of the two, so he has to search for help in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, an anxious Amy has a feeling that something has happened to Ty. Tim starts thinking seriously about a custody suit in order to guarantee he doesn't lose being able to see Shane. And Lou and Peter both receive interesting career opportunities that complicate their parenting plan...

There is --as always!!!-- a lot going on in this week's new episode of Heartland. Episode 513, titled "Aftermath," Written by Leila Basen and directed by Chris Potter, will be sure to keep you glued to your screens. On this week's episode Heartland welcomes Jonathan Goad, who guest stars as Woody - a man in the right place at the right time, although he takes a little while to come around.

Be sure to catch it when it airs across Canada Sunday at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland)!

Now I have to repeat some bad news and some GREAT news.

First the bad - you know we have had to miss two Sundays without a new episode of Heartland; the first because of the NHL All Star Game and last week because of the Super Bowl. Well, as I mentioned in the Thursday post two weeks ago, I have to remind you that next week there's a special Hockey Night in Canada game on CBC, when the New Jersey Devils play the Montreal Canadiens, and because of that there won't be a new episode of Heartland on February 19. Viewers in some parts of the country will get to see a repeat of one of my own favourite episodes - Episode 315 - "Second Chances."

Now the GREAT news - that's it for interruptions! Woohoo! Yes indeed, starting Sunday, February 26 there'll be a new episode of Heartland every Sunday for five consecutive weeks, which will take us through the remaining episodes of Season 5.

So I thank you one and all for being patient about this... and your patience is about to be rewarded!

Enjoy this Sunday's episode and let everyone know - both in here and on the Heartland on CBC Facebook Page - what you thought of it.

Until next week... Blog Whisperer up, up and away!

ah nice 1

ok so its this "woody" person thats gonna find jack and Ty injured i am guessing, will he be the 1 that goes for help? or the 1 that stays with Ty while jack goes for help?

guessing by the common mistakes that Tim makes, this would be another 1 of his not well thought trough plans. it will probally drive Janice away and even worse get Miranda on the run again. leaving Tim guessing over the next 6 episodes were is son would be. i wonder though ..... all wounds heal with time, you might not be able to erase the scars left behind .... but does any 1 see a romance going on with Tim and Miranda in the near future???

Ahhhh! This looks like such a great episode! We love you, Ty! I have one quick 'yes' or 'no' question for you, Blog Whisperer. My friend is going to France for a while, and I was wondering wether or not she will be able to watch new (and old) episodes on cbc.ca/video? Is the service allowed in another country?

Thanks!!!

Kate

[Blog Whisperer: Hi Kate! Unfortunately, no. Due to licensing agreements with other countries, CBC is only allowed to stream episodes within Canada. ]

This blog opens up more possibilities in my mind. I think the ghost from the past is actually Ghost. Question is, who sees him, Amy or Ty? As far as Tim goes, maybe this will lead to him getting back together with Miranda as the only solution to being with his son. From the picture posted it looks like Amy continues to make progress with Spartan on the techniques she learned. I am wondering if news of Ty gets to Amy and she is the one who rushes to him, or is she so scared of losing him that she avoids the situation? Hmmm?? Anyway, thank you BW for getting us ready for Sunday. Can't wait. And thank you Louise for the message from Chris. He is very talented.

I´m really happy that theres a new episode this sunday! Can´t wait! Especially since I saw Ghost in the preview :) :) :) Looks like another great episode...

Thanks BW. Really looking forward to it. Gotta say though that I hope Amy gets involved in some way when she learns Ty is in trouble. In other words, I hope she doesn't spend the whole episode at the ranch worrying; she needs to get involved in some way.

As for Peter and Lou....honestly, I could care less. With them getting jobs and it seeming like their only story is now about worrying about their career and the babysitting situation, I've kinda lost interest in them. If they were a little more involved in the other main storylines, I think I would be able to connect with them a bit more; but with all the recent drama going on around them, all we've seen in reaction from them is a fruit basket from Lou to Ty. All the rest was about work and baby. I realize the baby is a main storyline, but if Lou's no longer going to be involved in anything that's going on around the ranch like she used to be; I just find myself losing interest in the character.

Just a little constructive criticism for the writers to maybe think about.:))

Blog Whisperer;

What can I say this was definately another amazing blog on your part, as always. Thank you so very truly much for the pictures and for the description. Of course I am completely looking forward to watching this episode of Heartland.

I have to admit I really do love this show. Everything about it really, the producers, the writers, the CBC, the cast, the crew, the scenery, the horses, and every single person that has a hand in the making of this show. So yes, I love absolutely everything about this show. This is definately one truly amazing gem of a show.

I also love watching the way that Amy and Ty care for eachother I honestly do. I really love all of the interactions between the characters in this show.

Also, I would like to second that Thank You to; Louise Mah the President of the; Chris Potter Fan Club for what he had shared about how Chris Potter is proud of working on this episode and the next episode coming up after this one. For all to watch and enjoy. I thought that was really very truly sweet Thank You Louise Mah and without doubt and without question Chris Potter is definately one truly talented individual. Think about it he really is, he sings, plays the guitar, he acts, he directs, and he most likely does many other things as well. So hats off to Chris Potter for all of the truly amazing work that he does and I thank him as well.

Yes, I definately love everything about this show.

May absolutely every single person, everyone including all of the fans enjoy your weekend.

Sincerely,

I am really looking forward to this episode. But,I'm also in a way not enjoying them quite as much I think because I'm worried about there not being another season, season six. I, like many, have become invested in the characters and feel anxious about loosing the pleasure I get from wathcing this show.

BW perhaps you should pass this message on to CBC execs so they realize how much they are annoying viewers by not announcing yet. The longer without an announcement, the more I'm concerned the show will not continue. BW could you give an update as to when we might hear one way or another?

I love the mysterious ending each episode has, always leaves us thinking, whats going to happen next. Ty and Amy make an amazing couple i really hope if and when there are more episodes they stay together. Bager is way more cooler than Austin. Malory should totally stay with Badger! I cant wait till episode 13 will be amazing!!

Hey, Heartland fans!!

So, I have said this in the last blog, and I will say it again. If we all let the CBC know how much we want Heartland to come back for season 6, we could ensure its return. Now, Ruth, from the previous blog, has kicked it off by commenting on the CBC website. If you want to join, it's free, and it's super easy! First, you go to their website, then you go to TV. On the bottom of the page, you will find a link that says ''Contact us''. Click the link and fill out the form. Comment by saying that Heartland is a great show, and it must come back next year! Submit your form and hopefully, the CBC will recieve enough forms to make sure that fans will not be disapointed next year!

Glad I can record each episode to do that. But I've been rewatching Season 3 DVD and also the daily Heartland shows on CBC from Season 2, and honestly, I never get tired of watching this show over and over again!! Season 3 Ep. 3 is my all time very most favorite EVER. Sixth season PLEASE!

I have an idea for "Heartland Ranch". Why not create an online version of the game so that anyone can play? Why should those of us with Facebook Accounts have all the fun? The website could be called http://www.heartlandranch.ca/ . Please shoot more seasons of "Heartland". I want to see Mallory's parents buy Copper for her and board him at Heartland, Mallory quit her job at "Maggie's Diner" and work at Heartland again, Jack and Lisa get married, Peter work for Tim at his ranch, Peter and Lou build their own house on Heartland's property, Amy and Ty get back together, Tim gain full custody of Shane, Lou permanetly take over the business side of Heartland, and Peter get full custody of Max.

Please writers, can this be the last time Ty gets hurt? Yes, this is just a TV show, but some of these storylines are becoming a tad too fanciful to maintain the show's integrity and believability. Ty and Amy have to at least get engaged soon, and Peter and Lou have to be given more depth to their characters for there to be reason to keep watching them. Maybe Tim could even grow-up a little and Scott could be given a compelling love-interest. Giving Mallory more growth and air-time would be a plus too. Just my 20 cents worth of what is meant to be constructive
feedback while waiting for tonight's new episode.

Congrats to Chris Potter on a wonderfully directed episode. Really clever use of all the clips to show what was going on in Ty's mind while he was injured. Still really don't like what the writers are doing with Lou/Peter......their story has just gotten boring with Lou having nothing to do with the ranch anymore, and honestly I've lost all interest in their story. If I had a DVD of the last handful of episodes I would find myself FF through all Lou's scenes. Don't know if that's what the writers were going for.

But this episode as a whole was awesome. The Jack/Ty story along with the Ty/Amy story were really well done. No mistaking now how Jack feels for Ty or how Ty feels for Amy. I think the writing is on the wall now for where the Amy/Ty relationship is heading, and I think it's very evident now that they will indeed be engaged very soon.

Wonderfully done.:))

BW ~ you continue to tell us all the questions will be answered and tonight's episode we are full circle with the ring and more importantly, the meaning! Absolutely brillant! Thank you for never disappointment us fans! I truly look forward to the rest of the season and Season 6!! There is NO way Heartland will not be back! Graham, Amy and Jack did an amazing job tonight ~~ I could go on and on, but bottom line, THANK YOU for a wonderful two-arc episodes and another fabulous season of Heartland ~~

Hally wrote:

I am so relieved that Ty is OK. And it looks like maybe that engagement and maybe even a wedding are coming pretty soon! If I were CBC, and this assumes that there will be a Season Six (I think that's a slamdunk sure thing actually), I would have this season's final episode be about wedding preparations and then promo the first episode of Season Six as The Ty and Amy Wedding Episode. Heartland would break all its viewership records by far with that one! Thank you writers for not hurting Ty badly. You had us worried. Guess I'm not too smart, but I haven't completely figured out yet whether Ghost and the wolf are supposed to be good luck or bad luck. Bad things always happen when they're around, but then always end happily, thankfully!

Both Shaun and Graham played their parts to perfection especially concerning the injuries and the emotions that they were portraying.

Graham did an amazing job of portraying the flashbacks/hallucinations, and how he was calling out for Amy (as Ty). I was impressed by Ty's determination to get to Amy especially considering the injuries that he had sustained. I was impressed by the strong connection between them.

I was impressed by the relationship and bond between Jack and Ty. I was also impressed that Tim cares so much for his son Shane. Tim's portrayal and emotion brought tears to my own eyes considering how much he really doesn't want to miss out on Shane's youth.

I really like how they had added a few things within this episode. An example is the hunter, "Mr. Hypothermia man" - where he had gone on a bit about hypothermia.

When all was said and done I really enjoyed the significance and meaning about Jack doing all that he can for Ty. Also, about the importance of Ty understanding why now more than ever why he had given the promise ring to Amy.

Amber also did an amazing job of portraying fer feelings and through her eyes. You could see the stress in her eyes over worrying about Ty. Amber does her scenes with Graham to perfection.

I do really like how Amy seen Ghost at the end, and it had showed that Ty and Ghost do have a connection.

Yes, Chris did a truly amazing job of directing this episode and you could see that by the heart and soul that was put into this episode.

Thank you absolutely everyone, to the producers, the writers, the CBC, the cast, the crew and all who have a hand in the making of this show that we all call; Heartland. Also, thank you to all of the fans out there and please continue to watch this show your support by watching this show helps in determining a Season 6.

May absolutely eveyone have a great week.

I LOVED this episode! I am so excited for the new ones coming up. Especially since I think Ty and Amy's relationship is going to be way better now that Ty has had a "revelation" so to say. I really like where this is going. I am also getting quite bored with the whole Lou and Peter deal. Seriously. Who cares? Not me! I want them to be more involved with the main story. It's like they have a show all their own. And what happened to Scott? I miss him! Also, I truly hope Caleb and Ashley will work things out. I am going to be so mad if they don't! It's bad enough that they are gone right now. As for Tim...UGH! I REALLY hope there will be a 6th season! I will be crushed if there isn't!

Hey BW, any news on whether or not there is going to be a 6th season? I am not in the loop on that one. Thanks (:

CBC would be crazy if they don't continue airing this show. I have to say, that I think it's the best show there is now - in the entire world! I love that it takes good care of the characters, meaning that they feel real, they have memories, motivation for their actions etc. Things come full circle with them (like we saw last night), just as they do in real life. They're not just driven by pointless action or no reasoning. Thank you for Heartland!

Great episode. Well done Chris, both directing and acting. Very emotional scene with Amy. Shaun never lets me down. I just love his character. The show wouldn't be the same without him. No question how he feels about Ty nor how Ty feels about him. I don't think Jack would have any problem at all if Ty wants to marry Amy. I think he is hoping it will happen.
Ty's flashbacks were very powerful. You could see the progression of Ty's realization that his relationship with Amy is very real and strong. The final flashback in the ambulance, in my opinion, is symbolic of his coming home to Amy without all of the baggage that kept him pushing her away. He is completely willing and able to give himself to her without fear.
As far as Scott goes, from reading the upcoming episode descriptions, he will be back in the near future. I believe the episode after the next one.
I hope that CBC reads these comments and realizes how important this show is to people all over the world. It is a wonderful show about family, building healthy relationships and healing broken hearts. Thank you BW for giving us a vehicle to express our thoughts.

I totally agree with Susanna. I would be so depressed of CBC don't continue this show... The show really connects with the viewers. Like last night was so awesome, I cried when Ty and Amy talked.

OMG! I loved this episode. It was so great! I can't believe that Jack would actually throw a water bottle at a guys truck, shows another side of him. Ha!Ha! I really enjoyed watching this episode that i watched three more times afterwards. My favourite part, well i can't really pick, but one of them was at the end with Ty and Amy and he sees that shes wearing the Promise Ring...it was so good... you can really tell that Ty and Amy are closer now and have trust in each other. The other thing i enjoyed about this episode is the fact that Tim is trying to get custody of his son. It shows that he doesnt want tot make the same mistake that he did with Lou and Amy. I found in this episode that we saw different sides of the charachters. Which is great! But, I miss Malory and Sugarfoot! When do we see them next??? I cant wait for the next episode. And i hope that there will be a new season next year, all be lost with out it.
THANKS FOR ANTOHER AWESOME EPISODE! IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!

I really enjoy watching heartland, I've watched every episode aired. I watch it for entertainment, not to be subjected to oil industry propaganda. It was truly disappointing to hear Peter used as a mouthpiece for Ezra Lavant's message. Please don't let your fine show be used for this again.

This episode was so worth the wait!

Awesome acting, exciting storyline and amazing flashbacks...and I have a feeling the promise ring won't be the only ring we get to see on Amy's finger this season (or rather it will be replaced by another one). ;)

The song at the end was great, as usual!
Thanks for another amazing episode cast and crew :)

And Happy Valentine's Day! :)

It's always so worthwhile watching each episode a second time. I think "Aftermath" is one of the best stories and most well-acted episodes ever. Even the physical acting was perfect. Graham and Shawn could not have done a more realistic job of portraying the symptoms of the injuries they had. Shawn has been a pro for a long time, but Graham has become one. And Chris's scene with Amy talking about his regrets just could not have been more beautifully done by him. And my hopes for Lou and Peter getting some more substance to their story finally materialized, and again, with spot-on acting by Michelle and Gabe to make their scenes so real. And Amber...as I've said before, she just "brings it," flawlessly, every time. Congrats to the whole team and crew for the gift that Heartland is (including BW!) And thank you!

Chris`s work is amazing, he really has his own style in directing.

Some of his cast members have already mentioned that he brings out the best in them when they are in a scene together and I think as a director he is pretty good at this as well.

I really hope this upcoming storyline with the custody case will have enough seriousness and not turn into a comedy. The Tim/Amy scene about the missing 10 years was a great start and I pray Tim will be the grown-up in this. Yeah I have my doubts about this at the moment... During the last seasons Tim always was moving into the right direction with the right attitude only to regress into a "jerk" again. No I do not want to get used to that ;)

The episode was a highlight, thanks HL Cast and Crew :)

My father started Bedford Petroleums Limited in 1976 in Calgary - it was sold in the 80's. I always laugh to hear about Bedford Oil on Heartland. We need to remember that oilmen and ranchers have worked hand in hand for decades and oilmen often become gentlemen ranchers.......Maybe my dad (who is in his 80's now) should make a cameo????

Many things have already been said about this episode....
I just wanted to add that this episode has shown us again how Amber was a good rider, for riding trot and galop without saddle.
Most impressive is how she mounts easily on the horse's back with just a little jump. I think it is done without stuntman. Furthermore, she probably had to repeat it 4 or 5 times to film the scene...
I am a good rider, but I could'nt do it (neither Jack...or Tim...I think...lol...)

I would just like to say that I only recently started watching Heartland through Youtube. I live in the United States and cannot watch the show on the network. I watched the first episode and pretty much fell in love. It all started because I work at a small little restaurant in my hometown and a customer asked me if I watched Heartland. I answered that I had never heard of it, and she said, "Well, you look just like Amy from the show, she's the main character, very beautiful". When I got home that night, I looked up "Amy from Heartland" and was confused to find out that she had blonde hair and blue eyes and looks nothing like me: brown hair and green eyes. But now I'm hooked, I am currently in the beginning of Season 5. I look forward to hopefully being able to have the pleasure of enjoying a Season 6. Great job CBC for creating a beautiful program that has the ability to capture so many hearts in a healthy, family oriented way. It is reshreshing when compared to the reality junk that we have here in the U.S. :)

I agree with everyone here that this was a great episode. Today, I watched the rerun of the episode where Ty gets a mysterious fever when he and Amy have to rescue wild horses in a blizzard. I wish the writer had come up with some plausible explanation for the sudden 'fever'. My own experience with some canned crabmeat would have served well.
Ty had his halucinations and saw Ghost too!

This was a VERY well-acted episode, and I enjoy it more every time I watch. As far as Lou and Peter, just remember that Lou takes care of the home there at Heartland, and she IS an integral part of the story. I appreciated how Lou and Peter retreated and came together again in their disagreement, and communicated like mature people should. When Lou and Peter move to their own home, things will change at Heartland, but we know they all can handle change very well now. Am I the only one who wondered why the injured Ty, who wasn't supposed to be walking, was put in the loft? I know it was romantic, but not very realistic. Sorry. He should have been put in Mallory's old room or something, like Tim was when he was injured. I'm concerned Tim feels he has to malign Shane's mother to get custody; there has GOT to be a better way, because she is a good mother. She faced her own fears that what Tim wants to do might happen when she even brought Shane to Heartland in the first place. More and more, I am afraid there won't be a 6th season. Loving the comfortable certainty of Ty and Amy's relationship now.

I just want to write in to say what a wonderful show Heartland is. I grew up watching shows like MASH, Carol Burnett, The Golden Girls to name a few- shows you made time to watch. I have not seen a show that comes half way up to their caliber in years. In fact, I really don't watch much television these days- I am too disappointed in the content and message of the shows of today. I happened upon Heartland on the GMC channel here in the states and I was hooked! Good strong honest characters! Great messages! Outstanding acting from season #1 to present! I make time for this show!!- as does countless others as evidenced from your blog traffic. I pray the show is continued. I pray for the cast and crew- that they feel loved and blessed in their lives and feel a great sense of satisfaction with each completed episode. You all are appreciated for your talent and courage in expressing true emotion through your characters and for supplying your huge audience with outstanding entertainment each and every show!! THANK YOU from a fan in Indiana.

Great episode, no surprise there. I'm wondering what's happened with the dude ranch? It would be a shame to see it come to an end, Lou put so much of her heart into it.

The more I watch this season, the more I worry that it's going to be the last one. It feels like things are being wrapped up and coming to a close. I'm not ready for it to be over!

Ty was in the loft because the room where Mallory was sleeping is now Katie's room. Also, Jack will never let Ty sleeps in Amy's room!

I heartly agree javabeach! I too wondered about Ty being in the loft. But, there is not much room in the house, Mallory's old room being the nursery. I thought Amy could sleep in the loft and Ty in her room. Regardless, a wonderful episode. Graham, Shaun, Amber, and Chris were fantastic. Someone mentioned earlier about people sending a message to CBC about keeping the show. I did this a few weeks ago; I added that I thought it was bad marketing fo the CBC to frustrate fans/viewers with no info. Just click on CBC contact us and let them know how you feel. If there are still deciding, fan input may help. BW

BW PLEASE, let us know why things are still unknown. Should we be concerned???
The longer without knowing the more worrisome!

The CBC may just loose me as a viewer of any of there other programs if they don't continue the show.

Just started to watch this episode and I had to pause it to comment. As someone who rode a motorbike for years and also has first aid training, I need to ask you to get the word out to your followers. I'm hoping that people won't see how Jack treated Ty right after the accident and think that it was a proper or safe way to handle an injured biker. In the event of a motorcycle accident, you DO NOT REMOVE the biker's helmet!!! I had bright yellow warning stickers on mine that clearly stated that in the event of an accident, the helmet must only be removed by paramedics. I get the sense from the comments I've read, that Ty isn't paralyzed from this, however, if a bikers spine is injured and you remove the helmet, you can injure them MORE! thanks!

Just wanted to add my congrats to all the others for another stand-out episode. Have to say I found it a pleasant surprise to see just how much Amy has matured and able to pull her Dad up about his oh so recent conversion to being the perfect parent, something that she and Lou had obviously missed!

Oh, and those bus posters 'Time for Tim' right next to 'Batter up for a pancake breakfast' are priceless.

Susanna wrote:

javabeach, I thought the exact same thing about Ty being in the loft. But I believe the room where Mallory used to sleep (and Tim rested after his accident) is now Katie's nursery. So that was probably the reason why he was in the loft - there was no room in the house.

You just gotta love this show & the great story lines that have been developed. I a have fondness for the mystical story lines that have creep in from time to time. I would like to see some of the local larger than life characters from the past resurrected in a mystical story line. How about “Big John Ware”. A legendary larger than life man, born a slave in South Carolina & freed at the end of the Civil War. He moved to the western states to live the cowboy life, a life style that he was very good at. He was one of the first to be apart of the movement to bring cattle to Alberta. A legendary horseman I have read that he was never tossed from a wild horse. Much has been written about this larger than life character man. His tie to the Heartland story might just be in site of the ranch itself. If you stand at the entrance to the “Heartland Ranch” and look at the ranch house barn and corrals, just look up a bit to the long jagged ridge that is the backdrop to that wonderful scene , it has been named “John Ware Ridge” in honer of a remarkable figure a courageous cowboy & Albertan.
