Sometimes, Wednesday is referred to as "hump day" - the mid point of the 5-day work week, where you have 2 days behind you and after Wednesday you have 2 days to go before the weekend. It is sort of like climbing a hill, and after Wednesday you are at the top and it's all easy from there. Click on through to discover what I'm talking about, and read the answers to some of your questions!
Let's talk about a larger hill! I realized this week that today is a "hump day" of sorts, 'cause it's been 10 days since CBC aired the most recent new episode of Season 5, and after today there will be 10 more days of waiting before Sunday, February 12, when Episode 513 - "Aftermath" - premieres on all our screens.
So from here on it's all downhill (in a good way!), and with each passing day you'll have less time to wait before finding out what happens to Ty and Jack, who have become stranded in the wilderness following their motorcycle accident.
In next Thursday's post I'll have photos from the new episode for you and I'll reveal a little more about what you can expect to see when "Aftermath" airs, but for those of you who missed the episode this season when Heartland introduced Lou and Peter's baby, Episode 503 - "What's in a Name?" - it'll be repeated for all of you who are not going to be watching the Super Bowl. CBC was originally going to pre-empt Heartland altogether on Superbowl Sunday (as has been the case since Season 1) but this time they thought "Hey, perhaps some Heartland is better than no Heartland at all, and not everyone watches Football anyway..." Do you agree?
"What's in a Name?" originally aired on Sunday, October 2 and if you go back through these posts you can find my original writeup along with 6 photos from the episode. Today I'm giving you 6 additional never-before-seen photos from that episode!
So if football is not high on your agenda this Sunday, do tune in and enjoy a repeat screening of "What's in a Name?" at the usual time of 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland).
In other news...
The 100,000 Heartland Facebook Page count continues and the last thousand (96) was reached in a little over 6 days. It's getting tense!!!! I wonder when we'll be able to determine the winner of the (now closed) contest who will get a one-on-one conversation with Heartland's star, Amber Marshall. Stay tuned!
And now your questions...
Last week I said I'd answer some questions, and so here goes -
Courtney wrote: Do you have any idea if the Heartland cast is ever coming to Vancouver or the surrounding area? I know they've been here before but I was just wondering if you knew when/if they'll be back...
No cast appearances are being planned until everyone knows for sure that a 6th season of Heartland is going to be produced. And as I wrote last week, when I know you will know, 'cause I'll let you know right here on the blog!
Emily wrote: Does Ashley ever come back on the show? And where has Peter been? Also I can't wait to see the next episode! I love Heartland! Thanks BW :)
The Caleb-Ashley storyline will play out a little later this season. Just because someone is not in an episode - or even a season (!) - it does not mean for sure that you won't see them again. Look at Lily, Liam, Wade, and in the upcoming new episode - Ghost. They were all from past seasons and here they are again. So yes, even Blair and Chase can never be ruled out from returning to Heartland (!!!!) Oh, and Peter is back again very soon!
Kate wrote: I was just wondering what happened to Harley??? Where did he go because I haven't seen him in any episodes this season.
Harley is around, but he just hasn't been featured in an episode. You may have noticed Heartland has a large cast of not only human actors, but equine actors as well. Don't worry, he's fine!
Sarah wrote: What ever happened to Tim and Shane? I liked that storyline in the show. Does that ever continue? I'd like to know how everything turns out!
That storyline becomes front burner cooking (!) later on in this Season...
JessicaAmleeFan wrote: I have a question though will BADGER ever be coming BACK?? i mean he is great for Mallory and last time they were together and he heard Mallory talking to Amy, he didn't hear the first part of the conversation, where she mentioned really liking him (or something like that). so ya...will badger be back?and i really do hope to see more of Mallory again...will that happen? what do you think? Thanks for reading! and keep writing love your blog!!
Please see my answer to Emily above. The same applies to all characters, including Badger!
Brittany wrote: I love Heartland and I to can hardly wait till the new episode. My question is will Amy and Ty get married by the end of season 5? and I have one more question for you, is Amy going to do any more show jumping competitions?
There are some things I just can't answer and those are two of them. I will tell you that Amy will not be in any more show jumping competitions this season, but she will be doing something extraordinary on a horse later on... watch for it!
Valérie wrote: Hi BW, I have a question. I was wondering that if there were no season 6, would season 5 have a good conclusion, that we wouldn't be left on something unfinished? Please tell me. PS: Sorry for my English, I'm from Quebec.
One way or another, Heartland will not leave its fans hanging. That I can promise you.
Thia wrote: Dear BW, I just wanted to say that you are very clever indeed. You managed to write this week's blog without telling us anything new about the next episode. Everything you've just said about the episode, season 6, the three week gap- you've said already. You even put a picture from the previous episode instead. I feel cheated- way to keep up the suspense!
Drat - busted!!! :D
Sarah wrote: I seriously almost cried when this episode ended! And then I had to watch the preview for the next episode and I'm pretty sure my heart went in my stomach or my stomach was in my throat I'm not too sure, but it was a horrible feeling!!! Why does heartland do this to us???!!!! Three weeks!! ca'mon!!!!
Sarah - all series do this, and by "this" I mean they won't put a new episode up if something potentially huge is running on another channel at the same time. Sunday is a major sports day and sometimes it's just not worth running Heartland against the Super Bowl because everyone wants to make sure as many people get to watch it as possible. If Heartland were on say at 10:00pm on Tuesdays we wouldn't have this problem, but what sort of a family hour would that be? So to be in a prime spot on Sundays CBC sometimes has to delay some new episodes. A necessary evil, as they say.
Thia wrote: BW, I think you are very, very patient. Every time you explain things over and over again, but from reading people's comments, someone always asks the same questions everyday instead of just going back to see what you have written. I would have lost it by now!
Well Thia, we all have to remember that --as Facebook is showing us-- Heartland gains fans every day and so a lot of these repeated questions are from new fans. They deserve answers as well! I certainly don't mind!
Aleisha wrote: Plzz tell me Ty doesnt die, because amy and ty were just getting really good. if he does die (on the show) I will be crying for days, so plzz make sure he doesnt die!!!! :'(
Okay, here you go: Ty does not die. That being said, I actually haven't seen the new episode yet, so I don't really know, but you did ask me to tell you that Ty doesn't die, so... ;)
Erica wrote: Hi BW. I just wanted to say that I love the whole series and that Im a huge fan. Hope to see more Amy and Ty together. Is it really true that Amy is a awesome horse worker? Well Good Job. BW! :)
When you ask is it really true that Amy is an awesome horse worker I think you are asking if the actress who plays her --Amber Marshall-- is. Yes, Amber is a very seasoned horse person. She's lived with horses in her life ever since she was a young girl and she loves being around horses (and all animals) and is very good with them.
Morgan wrote: mrs.bell has to be in it some times but it really worried me when she got sick. I think if she ever died it would put the show Down and it would never be the same and what about sugarfoot.
All I will say is that Mrs. Bell becomes very important later this season. That's all I can tell you... okay, I'll also tell you it's not a bad thing!
floss wrote: I'm pretty sure that the last episode of season 5 comes out in late March (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), so I was just wondering when season 5 will be out on DVD? I know it won't be for a while but still..... PS: I really hope Ty's ok!
This is a good question for me to end with. Thanks for asking, floss! Yes, the season finale will be broadcast on Sunday March 25th. No date has been set for the DVD release, but Season 4 was released in November, 2011, so a guess of November, 2012 is probably a good one.
Last but not least!
Oh! One last thing! Some of you may have noticed a new feature here on the site (but actually on Twitter). Mallory Wells has decided to join Twitter (@Malloryland - follow her!) and has been tweeting her heart out for the past little while. And when I say "Mallory", I mean Mallory, the character, not Jessica Amlee! So who's doing this? As I said, it's not Jessica, and it's not the show's writers.
IT'S YOU!
We figured, as the most dedicated of Heartland fans, you know Mallory as well as anyone, and you'd know exactly what she'd want to say - and how she'd say it. Think of this as fan-fiction, Twitter-style! If you head over to the Mallory Tweets page on this site you can see how it works, but here's the details in a nutshell:
Once you've decided the perfect Tweet (in Mallory's voice), fill out the form on that page, and we'll go through them and the best ones will end up on @Malloryland every day! We'll be choosing them based on humour, personality, and a general "Mallory-like" feel!
What to Tweet, you ask? Easy! You can refer to things that happened in recent (or the current) episodes, or just imagine what Mallory is doing and thinking when she's not actually at the ranch! Work, school, relationships, family, hobbies... whatever! What would she tweet about Jake, or Austin, or ...Copper. Not to mention her observations about Jack, Lou, Katie, and even Amy!
This is kind of an experiment, and we can't wait to see what you come up with!
That's all for now!
So, I hope you can watch the repeat of the 3rd episode of Season 5 this Sunday, should you get tired of watching the Giants and the Patriots do battle. Me? I'll be watching Heartland!
Until next week - this is your Blog Whisperer saying adios!

I couldn't believe the men had their hats on in church for Lou's wedding. That is not done here in Colorado. A true western gentleman always takes his hat off in church and in other peoples homes. Okay BW: I'm hearing two stories here. A recent post I read somewhere (Facebook maybe as I'm always there)stated that H would not be returning with a new episode until Feb 26th due to sports events going on. You're saying the 12th. Well, I like your date better, but have you heard or do you know anything about this? I will be quite disappointed if I have to wait until the 26th but quite happy if it's on the 12th
[Blog Whisperer: Hi Tiffanie! As always, this site and blog is the final word and the only reliable source for Heartland information, and if I post something on Facebook, the info will be the same - random speculation by others on Facebook is just that: random speculation. If you read the post from last Thursday ( http://www.cbc.ca/heartland/2012/01/thursday-january-26---the-bad-the-ugly-and-the-good.html ) you will see how the schedule from now until the end of the season is going to roll out. The only addition to that is what I referred to above, the new repeat episode this Sunday, when originally there was a complete pre-emption scheduled. Also, the calendar on the homepage of this site is always up to date on new episodes. ]

Just wanted to say I absolutely ADORE Heartland, I've read all the books years ago and now I watch the series on YouTube every evening in my bed :)I think everything is just really authentic and you really feel like the ranch and all the characters really exist!
And: Dear Blog Whisperer, thanks sooo much for the regular updates! But is there any way to make the CBC video player available for people outside Canada or even the American Continent? Heartland is on in my country (Germany), so I could have watched it legally on TV, but I think the German synchronization is really awful and I prefer the English version...

Hello BW and Absolutely Everyone;
This was another awesome blog on your part as always, and yes you always have a lot of patience with everything. You are so amazingly awesome at this and I am certain at everything that you do.
The pictures that you have up here are amazing, every single one of them.
That is always awesome of you to answer others questions as well, seriously it is.
Also, I seriously hope that the CBC decides to make the Season 6 decision and may it be a go, a yes for Season 6 by the end of February. Why? Because if they are putting a stop on any cast appearances then that would mean that Amber won't be able to appear here in London, Ontario in March. Or am I false and they are still holding to her doing that? Her showing up her in London, Ontario is good for the show as it encourages more young girls and families to watch the show. That means that it is good for ratings, also.
On a more positive note the decision to do a Twitter account for Mallory Wells is a completely awesome and amazing idea. Really I do mean this. I am being SERIOUS in every way, shape, and form.
For anyone and everyone that is going to watch the; Superbowl enjoy and for those of you that decide to watch the repeat episode that they are airing enjoy also as I am certain that it is a special episode indeed.
Thank you Blog Whisperer for another completely amazing blog. May you have a completely awesome weekend.
So, on that note may absolutely everyone enjoy their weekend. I do mean that in every way, shape, and form.

I miss seeing Peter and think he was fibbing when he said he had a job offer in BC. I still get a kick out of Mallory! I think she should stick to that cowboy kid, but the guitar player is pretty intriguing!
I'd like to see a little more activity out at the Dude Ranch - maybe get some guest stars droppin' by...that would be neat! Maybe try to get Buck the Horse Whisperer on there, and that...I bet George Strait would do a show, too!

At this point of the show, the return of Chase or Blair or Kit will bring nothing new to the series except for harassment, violence, betrayal, the end of the couple Amy / Ty and it would be the end of the series (the majority of the fans did not like season 4).

The "Nicker-Button." That's what we call one of our favorite little things about Heartland. There are so many instances when a horse on the show nickers on cue, that we know there has to be a nicker-button that the editors or someone pushes at the right moment to get the appropriate equine-greeting/coo-ing! Always brings a smile to our faces!

Why not include Max in new episodes and future episodoes of "Heartland" and have an episode where Jack builds a house on his property for Lou, Peter, Catherine, and Max to live in and where Lou works in the business area for Heartland and Peter sells his company and gives the money to Heartland so that he can work for Tim?

I really like the music at the end of Heartland episodes. Recently I came upon a band that would fit in really well with the "not-so-well-known-but-talented" genre and has a little country twang. (It's called The Charlie Rogers Band.) How are the songs picked? They do such a good job of finding music that fits.

Rita C. - I had already mentioned above that I MOST definately would sign a petition in order to encourage the CBC to continue making this amazing and incredible show that we ALL watch called; Heartland.
Yes, this is most definately an amazing show. This show is about family, friends and community. It is about being there for people when they really need you and also about being there for horses which is also truly amazing. This show encourages people to be there for their community.
When a disaster strikes; Who do you turn to? Your community. Everyone always turns to their community for help especially during environmental disasters. This show does just that it encourages you and everyone to be there for their community because; What makes a city/a town strong? It is the community, people coming together as a family to help during a time when others need them. That is what helps YOU, and that is what helps families.
So, as I had already stated I would MOST definately sign a petition to encourage the CBC to continue on with this amazing gem of a show that we all call; Heartland.
Also, yes that is an amazing idea and I would LOVE to support it. Thank you all who have thought of it.

i know this probable has nothing to do with what you guys or the blog is about but can you please do an episode where Ty and Amy sing together i just think that Amber and Graham's voices will sound great together :) and also an episode where Amy and Ty have to look after Katie it would be funny to see what they would be like looking after a baby after the episode of them looking after the orphan foal Merlin :)

Ruth - I have done as you had requested and I had left them a fairly long comment to request the continuation of Heartland. I had requested that they make a Season 6 and if at all possible more seasons to follow.
Thank you Ruth for this idea and I greatly appreciate it. I hope that other fans will follow and do the same. I also hope that this encourages the CBC to give the go ahead to make; Heartland Season 6 and if possible even more seasons.
Again, thank you Ruth.

Teri, if you look at the previous comments, you will see an awesome idea from Ruth that a few of us have already done. If we can get enough people to comment on that form, we might just ensure that Heartland will be coming back for season 6!!
Thank you Ruth, for that idea!! And thank you True talker, for your support!

My first time reading this blog. But keeping my eyes closed as we don't want to spoil the drama. We have just finished watching Seasons 1, 2 and 3. We have season 4 but haven't wached it yet nor any of season 5 on TV. I do hope season 5 is soon on DVD as we are now hooked. A class act CBC

Heartland is the best family program that TV has to offer. I purchased Seasons 1-4 and A Heartland Christmas on DVD. I am on the last disk of Season 4 and I will watch them all over again because it was such a wonderful program. I don't understand why non-family programs are out on DVD soon as the series is finished, but it takes forever for family programs to ever be on DVD. I, too, never want this series to end. It makes you feel like they are all your family as you get to know all their characters. In today's reality TV world - thank goodness there is Heartland for those of us who choose quality TV time. Let's only hope that CBC reads our comments.
