This week, in an all new episode of Heartland, some series favourites are back and some very interesting developments are afoot... Read on!
The eighth episode of the 5th season of Heartland, titled "Nothing for Granted" was written by Mark Haroun and directed by Tina Grewal, and features Anna Ferguson, who plays Mrs. Bell. And of course, whenever Mrs. Bell is around Sugarfoot --masterfully played by Little Chief-- is usually not far away!!!!
But this week he is...
In this Sunday's new episode, Ty visits Mrs. Bell to thank her for paying his school fees but he and Amy are surprised to discover she's moved out of her home... and away from Sugarfoot.
Meanwhile, Shane competes with Janice for Tim's attention and ends up finding another cowboy to look up to. Mallory starts to fall for Austin, but can't help wondering if he has an ulterior motive for getting close to her. And Soraya takes some life advice from an unlikely source... Caleb!
It's an episode about friendship and chipping in to help those you care about. And you will NOT want to miss the ending of "Nothing for Granted," for the very last line will come as a bit of a shock, and give you an idea of what lies ahead in upcoming episodes of Heartland. Hmmmmm... how's THAT for a hint?
We have a Contest Going On...
In other news, you still have until November 28 to enter our contest to win one of 5 sets of the DVDs for Season 4 and "A Heartland Christmas." I'll even put them in a cute little Heartland bag for you! To enter, go here!
Production Winding Down...
Yes, as those of you who follow @HeartlandOnCBC on Twitter know, there are only 8 more days of filming left until Season 5 wraps. That's 5 full years, or 85 episodes of Heartland. Wow! Lots has happened in the series since it began in 2007, and there is still lots for you to see in this fifth season. I hope you're up for it!
A lot of people ask around this time of the year whether or not there'll be another season of Heartland, and at this time all I can report is that it looks promising, but no decision has been made. A few more episodes have to air, and within a couple of months, if the CBC and the producers agree that the show should go on, then you will see Amy and company riding into your living rooms in the fall of next year. So, I don't know now, but as soon as I do I'll announce it here!
Signing Off Now...
Yes, 18 Sundays of the year are made for watching Heartland at 7:00pm (7:30pm in Newfoundland) and this coming Sunday is one of them, when Episode 508, "Nothing For Granted", premieres.
Make sure you all watch and enjoy it, and do come back and post a comment in here after you see it, letting me and all the other fans know what you thought of it!
Until next time,
Your friendly neighbourhood Blog Whisperer

Thanks BW! I am so looking forward to this episode!! What an amazing picture of Ty/Amy in first shot. They look like they are still going strong in their relationship. I love Mrs Bell and Ty scenes. They have great chemistry and the dialogue is always so sincere between them!!! This seems like a great show heading into holiday break. Love the show and hope Season 6 becomes a reality!!!

Thank you BW! You always give us just enough to have us coming back for more! :) I can already tell from the preview, pics, and description that I'm going to LOVE this episode!! I can't wait!
Thank you for the pics! I especially love the one at the top of the page! They look so good together! I, of course, love the other pics with Ty in them as well! Thanks again!
BW, I know they haven't announced whether there's going to be another season of Heartland, but it sounds like some of the cast has made comments about there being another season: Chris Potter and Tattiawana Jones being two of them. Does that mean that the cast already knows? It kind of sounds that way.
[Blog Whisperer: Nope! Truly, nobody knows yet. Not the producers, the writers, the cast... all the way down to lil' ol' me. ]

I have been watching Heartland from the very first episode and absoutely love the show. I am not a tv watcher since there is nothing really worth watching for me, the reality shows are boring, not into action packed or soap operas, or talk shows so that leaves little else except news and the weather station......lol, but when Heartland came on and I viewed it for the first time I was hooked. I do enjoy anything to do with animals too, like animal cops and funniest animals or funniest videos. Born on a farm but moved when still a child, I had a love for animals that as taken me to this day and I am soon to be 61. I own 2 minature horses now and have had horses for the past 4 years, I'm not retired so I'm a busy girl. I also have had dogs as long as I can remember, I have 2 cats that keep me pretty busy along with 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandaughter. Most of them share my love of horses and animals, they too also enjoy Heartland. (Well the ones old enough to understand the show).
I never miss and episode even if company should show, they have to sit and watch or come back later...lol. In all of those episodes I never heard foul language which makes it such a great show for family viewing. You don't find that in todays world. But then an episode a few weeks back that featured Jack's old buddies getting together for Jack's birthday blew me away, why? because of all the episodes only this one was there a scene where Jack's buddy took the LORD's name in vain, only the one time but it hit like a ton of bricks! I didn't expect it and really it wasn't called for, that part could have very well have been left out. I do hope that this show continues to be far above the rest with morals and scruples and continues to produce a show that from the very youngest to the very oldest can view without hearing such language or so parents don't need to view before allowing their children to view.
I hope there will be a 6th season and a 7th and a 8th and so on, may it be the longest running family show or any show for that matter in the history of television. The cast is wonderful, the setting is spectular and the heart of the show is powerful, encouraging, meaningful, directional, and so on.
Simply put.........I LOVE HEARLAND, hat's off to all of you. Keep up the great work.

Just a short comment or two. With respect to another season, I don't know how the series would not be renewed. I am not in the entertainment industry, but this show is a gem! To not renew it woulod be a travesty.
With respect to entering the contest, I can't enter either. When I click on enter a page with a button comes up, but nothing happens when you click on it. It just loops back around to the same page.

Thank you for another great prelude to what looks like a action packed new episode. I can't wait to watch it with my girls. I love all the pictures and the little hint of things to come. You certainly know how to keep us all on the edge of our seats. I TRULY HOPE and PRAY that the CBC and everyone involved makes the right decision to come back for Season 6 because we need to keep good, positive, wholesome and strong family programming like this on TV so I have something to watch with my girls and inspire them to create dreams and work hard to make them come true.
My girls were so happy to meet Amber Marshall at the Royal Winter Fair this year, actually, I was so excited too!! She is very kind, talented and so patient to go around the entire horse ring taking time to chat with all her fans!!
Thanks BW for all your posts. I so look forward to reading them every thursday.

Shane and Janice competing. I wonder how that goes and what Tim will do.
The last line? Hmmm, first thought was Amy because her year off is coming to and end and maybe it is about her future and her future affects pretty much everyone else.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the show will return in the fall of 2012 and I am waiting impatientyl for an offcial decision on that.

I'm hoping that that "last line" you mention is Ty saying to Amy, "Will you marry me?" But for the time-being, I guess I'd settle for Tim saying "Hit the road Janice, Miranda and I eloped last night, and the doctor says we're expecting twins." But seriously, Amy and Ty are going to have to tie-the-knot either by the end of this season or sometime during Season 6. Still plenty of/endless great possible storylines after that for a young married couple growing as individuals and as a team working together as vet and horse-listener based at Heartland. Get ready for one more new home-site at the ranch Jack! Bartlett's Bastion Estates!

Such a great pic of Ty and Amy! I don't think there's ever been a cuter and more healthily realistic TV couple. Maybe Alex Keaton and his girlfriend Ellen from Family Ties days, who had a much shorter TV romance, come close. They even eventually got and still are married decades later in real life! (Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan.) But Ty and Amy are about the best TV role model couple ever (as long as they don't break-up again...the Heartland audience will need a lot of therapy if that happens!)

ok so to start off i would just like to answer Amber's question, If you get to read this! You can stay right here at the heartland website and go to "episodes" and they give you a list of all of the season 5 episodes that have aired so far.thats were i watch them and they give you good quality viewing unlike other cheap websites that could give you viruses. Heartland is amazing and i really hope that it will continue on. You have great cast members and the show is just plain and simply amazingly great! i would love to see up to season 7 at least!! the series is great. I really love amber and wish i could meet her. She is soooo pretty and beautiful and she is a role model. when i grow up i want to be just like her. i want to look just like amber. i also have a natural love for animals. when ever i am near a animal i try to get as close to it as i possible can. i love animals and i am always outside enjoying everything nature has to offer. i wish i could meet amber Marshall. she is awesome and i would love just to spend a day with her or just get one simple autograph from her and maybe even graham Walder!

I really enjoy this show, but am forced to torrent download the episodes because the streaming video isn't available in the US. And I really want to get the videos for my wife, who is as into horses as you can get. But the captions with the purchase information state not for sale outside Canada. Does this mean that they are not available at all, or that they have to be purchased via the CBC site? I really want them. Maybe a friendly Canadian will assist a friendly Texan in getting them?
(BTW, the serises does appear on cable down here, and is very popular. Canada has a winner.
[Blog Whisperer: I can't speak to the torrenting (which is piracy and generally not something that one would generally discuss on a broadcaster's site or Facebook page) but the DVDs are available on Amazon - lots of Americans buy them that way! ]

Another really good episode. I especially liked the scenes with Ty and Mrs. Bell. There are some story line threads that havve been bugging me though, so I'm going to put them out there now. Ty & Mrs Bell: Way back when she said she was going to pay for his education, she put one condition on it, that he visit once a week with the banana oatmeal muffins sugar foot likes. We never saw this happen. Fine, there are many things we are to assume. But this episode shows Ty has not been visiting, therefore, story thread dropped. NOW, I really don't like that she went back on her word and did not let Ty know. Most of all WADE. I don't get where the writers are going with this. I guess I will have to trust.
Caleb & Ashley: Fine, Ashley is out of the show, but I haven't completely bought the premise of her and Caleb breaking up. Where is Val in all this? Are they getting a divorce? I dom't buy that there relationship would deteriorate that seriously and that quickly. I think it should have been done on camera.
Caleb & Ashley/Val & Trailer/Ty: If Caleb and Ashley divorce, the property that the trailer sits on is hers (Val's gift. This would mean that Ty would no longer be able to rent the trailer from Caleb. How will this be dealt with? I hope it won't just be dropped.
I know these are details, but they are important I think in maintaining the intergrity of the story lines. Also, it is the high standard I've come to expect from Heartland.
All this being said, I so hope there will be a season 6 full of new and contiued story lines. I hope some day to see Ty and Amy married and having there own baby.

Awesome episode. Ty fans should love this episode as he really shined here....and his scenes with Mrs. Bell were amazing. The Ty/Amy fans should be happy as we saw again how much of a team they truly are.....not to mention it seemed Amy saw with the rest of us how amazing Ty was here with Mrs. Bell and saw more confirmation of how lucky she is to have him.
Only thing I didn't like was Austin. Sorry writers, I'm not feeling it with this guy and his acting I don't feel is on par with the others. I would love it if this episode was his swan song....unfortunately I know that's not the case.

One of Heartland's best episodes! I loved seeing Mrs. Bell and Sugarfoot again! I love the Ty/Mrs. Bell moments! So cute!! It was so adorable when they switched Mrs. Bell with Amy so that she was the one riding the bike with Ty :D It was interesting seeing how plans were coming for Peter and Lou. We got to see a little bit of everyone. I'm not so sure if I can wait until December 4th for the next episode! I really want to see Ty and Amy along with Wade. Should be very interesting :) My two favorite things: Heartland and violence (jk on the last one) LOL. Seriously looking forward to the next episode!
Two quick little side comments - Will we get the whole story on the Caleb/Ash break up? Or see what really happened? I'm a bit confused as to what happened between them. Last season, they were super happy. In Mood Swings, Caleb "set her free" and she decided that she wanted to stay with him.... Just curious as to what exactly happened :) And is Badger coming back?

"It was Wade" not exactly the last line I wanted to hear. But what a wonderful episode, especially with Ty and Mrs. Bell. This seemed like a much more relaxed, easy-going and less frenetic and dramatic episode than many of late. Loved it! So great to see Ty and Amy at-peace with each other and things in general. But I guess maybe it's time for Ty to beat-up Wade again. Maybe Jack and Tim can join the fun this time. Pull a "Wes" at the motel on him. And give Mrs. Bell the chance to take the final knock-out punch. I'm gaining a mini-amount of positive vibe for Janice, but still hope Tim ends-up marrying Miranda.

Hey everyone!
I LOVED that episode. Could be my new favorite.... definitely top 5 though!
I am a huge Sugarfoot/mrs. Bell fan and I really loved the scenes with them and Ty.
I´m glad Mallory dumped Austin (at least for now) cause I still think she should be with Badger... if he should ever be on the show again.... :(
And I also liked the Lou/Peter storyline, I hope to see some really funny scenes when they start building the house... There´s a lot that could go wrong!!!! :D
finally, tim/shane/janice: although I´ve never been a fan of janice I do like what is going on between the three of them right now....
I guess you could say I liked everything that happened in that episode :)
and of course I loved the Mallory/Jack talk... can´t believe I forgot to mention it... I love those... :) Been missing them....
one little thing has been missing and that´s Katie... They´ve been talking about her but we didn´t get to see her at all... She better be in the next episode again... she is SOOOOOO CUTE!!!
still.... It was really AWESOME!!!
let me see.... 13 days left till the next episode... CAN`T WAIT!

This was an amazing episode. Again everyone did an amazing job, including Little Chief (Sugarfoot on Heartland). The idea of Amy (Amber) and Ty (Graham) helping Mrs. Bell (Anna Ferguson) to be home once again and feel like herself again with the help of everyone else was amazing. This episode really gave you the true sense of family and of being there for one another.
It was also good to see Tim's (Chris) commitment
to being with his son.
Jessica (Mallory on Heartland) again did an amazing job of portraying the emotional pain that she felt.
I really liked the smile that Jack (Shaun) gave when he realized that Mallory (Jessica) really wanted to spend some time with him.
It was good to see Lou (Michelle) gaining some of her confidence once more, and I hope that Peter (Gabriel) will truly accept his wife's decision.
I always appreciate family and friends being there for eachother.
Again, I thank all of you for another amazing episode.
Another thank you also for the scene with the close up view of the stained glass picture in the entrance way of the Heartland home. I love this stained glass picture it is so very beautiful.

Ok, I totally didn't see that one coming.
Not quite what I was hoping for, but still a great episode. This show is really starting to develop some twists and turns... I'm loving it even more.
You really can't take anything for granted... guess the title of this episode really is perfect.

I came across this show on Netflix and decided to give it a go since I adore horses. and I became instantly addicted.. I was so upset when they stoped it during season 2 right after episode 9... But, lucky, there is youtube where they had all the rest of them up to season 5 episode 7,.... now I am dying to be able to watch the next one, I hope i can soon.. it's torture to not know what is happening!!!

Ratings seem to be pretty consistently in the 700K-900K range for Canada this season. When CBC and the producers consider committing to a Season 6, I assume they'll also take into account the increasing worldwide interest in/love of Heartland (and the associated revenues they must be receiving.) I'd love to know what the ratings are for the U.S. and Europe. I'm sure they'll only grow over time. I bet the DVD sales will be excellent too. This is the kind of show that people want to see over and over again.

This is the first episode in the series that I have truly liked, although I wish Amy was working more with horse - miss her horsemanship insights.
I appreciated seeing a more mature, rooted Tim that wants to invest in his family with his time and love as well as leadership.
I absolutely relish Mrs. Bell. She is such a gem! Thanks for bringing her back.
Hope all works out with Lou. About time she gets another good challenge her way - such a passionate and intelligent woman.
More horsemanship with Amy please :)

Oh wow, what an awesome episode, I was so looking forward to see Mrs. Bell and Sugarfoot again :D
I loved the Poker scene. Tim and Jack "This is a good hand", "and "THIS is a great hand". LOL I am still voting for that Tim/Jack episode.
Shane looking up to Jack. Honestly, who can blame him? Jack is such a great guy and we all love him :D
Of course it is hard for Tim, reminded me of the scene in Season 3 "Catch and Release" where Tim spoke to Jack after Peter asked Jack first because of Lou and saying that no matter what he does he always comes second after his ex-father-in-law.
Janice, yes... I am not fan of this right from the start because I have seen Tim and Joanna in the Christmas Special and she was the one who made him open up and talk about his past and showing us a different side of Tim. A side I loved very much btw ;)
Tim/Mallory scene. "Who is the next victim?" LOL
Thanks fro this really great epsiode HL Cast and Crew :D

If season one has been released in the USA why can we only get the 1st 13 episodes? There are more episodes than that according to the episode guide for season 1. I love this show. Have not been this excited or loyal to a show since Star Trek. Anyone thought about starting conventions for Heartland like they have for Star Trek? Bet they would be very popular!
[Blog Whisperer: Hi Carol! That's an easy one - it's because season 1 is only 13 episodes long! All the rest are 18 episodes. HOWEVER - in the US, they are showing Heartland in 22 or 23 episode batches, meaning that the first batch, which aired last year, was all of Season 1 and the first 9 or 10 episodes of Season 2, and the batch that is airing this year is the rest of Season 2 and most of Season 3. This may seem confusing, but what it means is that U.S. viewers will catch up faster, so it's actually a good thing. Hope that helps! As for a Heartland convention - I have absolutely thought of trying to do something like that. In don't know if it will ever happen (probably not, to be honest) but it's being looked into. ]

In case no one else has mentioned it. The DVDs of series 3 and 4 will be released in the UK in January and February respectively. However Heartland Christmas is not yet available on Amazon UK.

To follow up on my comment before the episode aired... I think Ty/Mrs. Bell have great scenes. They were extremely touching and honest. As many have said on the Blog, Graham is amazing actor and bring some amazing honesty, realism and sincerity to his scenes.
This was probably my favorite episode of the season. I know many of commented they did not like last season. I actually liked last season -- the drama made for some great TV. I think Amy/Ty act so well together when there is a conflict/chaos (not to say that we want that all the time but they both are 'dramatic' actors).
I look forward to the next episode and don't think it will disappoint.
As for those talking about other countries loving this show --- many of us from the US LOVE this show and know that season 6 is in the cards (and seasons 7,8, etc.). This is a very good show -- but writers don't be afraid to write the drama (I know this year is already done but for next year). We all love Heartland and nothing will change that.
Continued great job. For all the US fans -- Happy Thanksgiving (tomorrow)!!

Man!! Like that was amazing job of acting Ty ! Who else would have 'pranked' the Geriatrics' and given Mrs. Bell a ride on their bike . I loved it!!! Mrs. Bell You looked so D... cute in that jacket & jeans when you climbed off the bike. AND writers thank you for calming Lou down cause she was getting 'awfully annoying' as Jack would have put it! GRRREEAAATTTT job all of you ! J'aime tu Heartland !

I was wondering about the promise ring too. What happened to it? Why isn't Amy wearing it now they are back together better than ever. By the way I hope they continue to improve their relationship. Maybe the next ring she wears will be an engagement ring. Would like to see Ashley & Caleb work things out. Also Badger & Mallory are cute together. N

I love Heartland so much! Anyone who loves Heartland and has not seen A Heartland Christmas needs to see it! I think Ashley and Caleb are over, I think they rushed things a little to fast. Amy and Ty need to get married, They are not rushing things at all. Tim needs to marry Shane's mom. Jack needs to marry Liza. And Mallory and Badger need to get together! I don't really like Peter! I think Lue showed have married Scott like she did in the books! I really hate Tim! TIM IS DREADFUL!

Thank you so much for a show that my whole family can watch and enjoy. There is so little on t.v. now that is worth the time. This show is amazing and gives my girls something worthwhile to watch.
