Okay, I wrote this on Wednesday, and yesterday to Wednesday is Tuesday, so...
What happened on Tuesday was that the CBC had a fall sales launch at the Palliser Hotel in Calgary for the advertisers and clients of the network. They all gathered and saw a great promo on the upcoming fall season, of which Heartland is a big part of (7:00pm on Sundays beginning September 26 - as if you didn't know that!!!) and saw the fabulous fall line up for the CBC. Let's just say, Sunday nights are going to be awesome. Click through to the blog post for tons new Heartland information!
As an added bonus they were able to meet and get their photos taken with some of the talent that appear onscreen on CBC's shows. Some of Heartland's cast were able to attend the event. The photo above shows Amber Marshall flanked by Graham Wardle on the right and Torrance Coombs on the left. Amber and Graham are of course Heartland's Amy and Ty, and Torrance was there to talk about his role on the upcoming season of "The Tudors," where he plays Thomas Culpepper. "The Tudors," like Heartland, also returns for a fourth season on the CBC this fall.
Now, you probably better know Torrance as Chase Powers, from the final two episodes of last season. I forget what you've all written in the past - did we like Chase or did we not like Chase? Remind me, please...
Anyway, all three took turns speaking to the gathering and a good time was had by everyone. It was not open to the public, only to advertisers and clients, so if you are reading this and live in Calgary please don't ask, "Why didn't you let us know so I could have gone to it?" There'll be more opportunities for fans to see cast members live in the future... I promise!
But now to address a few things and answer a few questions -
1) You have 2 days left - today and tomorrow - to ask Production Designer Rick Roberts a question. Just click back to the previous blog entry and drop him a question in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
2) TC asks - "You're having fun with this whole 'Thursday' thing, aren't you, BW? ;-)"
Really TC, it's almost too much fun. Almost, but not quite.
3) Then TC asks - "Is it Sept. 26th, yet?"
Which gives me the opportunity and cheap excuse to get into countdown mode. We now have only 15 Thursdays between today and the launch of Season 4 (Again, if you're counting sunsets that makes it only an exiguous 108 days from today).
4) Wendy asks, "When season 4 is up and running what weather will be portrayed in the new season? Because Calgary has had to endure winter for the second time, it's been raining here, did that affect your filming?"
Well Wendy, they have an expression in Calgary - "If you don't like the weather... wait five minutes" - which some days doesn't seem like an exaggeration. For over three years the cast and crew of Heartland have had to adjust to all types of climatic changes, but to rework a famous phrase often attributed to the US Postal Service but in fact written by Herodotus in the 5th century BC - "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these film crews from the swift completion of their day of filming." So Wendy, there will be all kinds of weather, but as always it's going to look good!
5) Annie x points out that on a UK reality show there was a contestant named "Amy Fleming."
Very interesting, but that shouldn't be too much of a surprise, as Amy and Fleming are not uncommon names and sound good next to each other. In fact, there are over 350 people named "Amy Fleming" currently on Facebook, three of which are using a photo of Amber Marshall (!!!) This makes it a good time to point out two valuable lessons -
a) You can't believe everything you read on the Internet. None of the three Amy Flemings on Facebook are connected to the television series Heartland, (although they may themselves be fans of the show!) but...
b) You can however, believe everything you read on this blog (or on the Official Heartland Facebook page at facebook.com/cbcheartland - have you joined it yet?) So if you've found your way here you've found the source of all things Heartland-icious, and if you read anything about Heartland here, it will be accurate. Trust me. Seriously. I mean it. Honest. I'd never lie to you. Pinky swear!
c) By the way, we have thousands and thousands of people who read this blog every day, and new Heartland fans are discovering it all the time, so if you're new around here, leave a comment and introduce yourself! We're all friendly types and would love to (virtually, at least) meet you!
6) melanie asks, "does anyone know when the Heartland Christmas movie is being filmed/coming out?"
It was filmed earlier this year and will air on the CBC in Canada in December. When the exact date is set, you'll learn about it here. I'll have tons of stuff about the Christmas movie when we get a little closer to the date - but don't expect to hear anything until sometime after the season 4 premiere.
7) goin' crazy!!! asks, "Can somebody PLEASE tell me when season 3 comes out on dvd?!?
I hope this does not make you even crazier, but no date has been set, yet. Don't expect Season 3 to come out on DVD before 2011.
So that's it for this Thursday. Only one more Thursday before the official start of summer and of course, only 15 more Thursdays before Sunday, September 26, 2010 - the premiere of Season 4 of Heartland.
And I know, some of you are going to write that 15 weeks is an eternity. But consider this - The fans of the NHL Chicago Blackhawks had to wait 2,555 weeks between Stanley Cups (from April 1961 until last night). Congratulations to the Blackhawks and all their fans. Incidentally - in the deciding game of the 1961 final Chicago's first goal was scored by a guy named Fleming (Reggie, not Amy...)

@BW Did KMA88 tell you yet that through a series of conversation on I love heartland we found out that we had informaly met at the autograph signing with kerry,cindy and jessica amlee in febuary.My mom talked to KMA88 for a minuet but for some reason I didnt but oh well.

[Blog Whisperer: Well, I don't personally (alas!) But yes, you're absolutely correct - they are all available on iTunes, and it's a legitimate distribution channel for Heartland (along with the DVDs!) However, I don't think they're in the iTunes store outside of Canada yet. ]

OF COURSE I DO! And that's not sarcasm. Chase is awesome. A jerk, yes. A potential threat to the Ty-Amy relationship, yes. Good-looking, yes. A great character, yes. I don't have a problem with any of those. He'll just make Heartland even more interesting and easy on the eyes. YAY CHASE! I hope to see lots more of him in Heartland Season Four, even if Ty and Caleb still rank higher on my list of amazing Heartland guys.

With our 4 year old daughter it isn't always easy to watch Heartland on tv so my husband and I have been watching it on this site when we can and we just went to watch the last few episodes of season 3 and found out that the video only goes to episode 8 now. I know all 18 episodes were there last time we watched so why is it changed??

Chase? I would have to say i do not really like him simply for the fact that he already caused problems for ty and amy! I liked him in ring of fire episode because he was sort of their enemy and amy didnt like him but in the season finale, i really did not like him, the way he was flirtling with Amy and making her doubt her connection with Ty. I have a feeling he will be in heartland future episodes i just hope that he doesnt get involved with amy.
Amy and Ty beling together! Forever! No ifs ands or buts!
i do however wonder whats going to happen now that ty is going to school and lou is married and off to another place. someting must happen to get these two to stay at heartland.

Yes I do! I think he's everything Key says, and I love the fact that he possibly could be a wedge between Ty and Amy! I think that Torrance will do a great job acting as an evil manipulator/instigator or whatever terms this board will offer, he's just got that quality about his acting! I actually loved jPod, so I've been a fan of Torrance (cool name) for some time now. Plus Torrance seems to have a great personality with a wicked sense of humour, so yes, bring Chase on, we're ready for him!
I know you Vancouver Canuck fans ain't going to like this...but...YAY CHICAGO!!!!!! What a series! I was pretty sure that they would be carrying Jonathan Toews off on a stretcher, but he managed to stay upright until the end! LOL!

Hmmm.... good question. I think he's a good character to have on the show (conflict between Ty and Amy etc.) but I don't think I actually like him. Well, I didn't anyway. Who knows what Season 4 is going to bring! (well, some people do, but....)

OMG! I'm going crazy here :( Is the show going to show repeats until the season 4 premiere comes on like last time? I literally screwed up! It hasn't shown in months and I still sit down at 7 every Sunday before I remember it's not on (Thank God the hockey was on, but that's done now too :( But atleast Chicago won! I love Jonathon Tayes :) Even though my fave team is Montreal, no offense to Calgary and all :P But you reallt can't get me started on hockey, seriously, I think it's the one thing I can talk more about than Heartland and Horses! )
On the plus side I got Season 2 on DVD today! :D It looks so cool, I love how it folds out! (Yes I know I'm a nerd but it made my day) And then I found Season 1 like that too but my mom won't buy it cuz I already have it separately :( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

As for Chase...... nuh uh! I didn't even like Caleb until he was out of the way between Amy and Ty. They might need him there for conflict between Amy and Ty but honestly, I'd prefer a few eps of them happily being together and mushy but......... deep down I must love the drama because this is after all my favourite show and it's filled with it..... Still, I can't stand him :)

why does everyone hate chase so much? i hate him too, really i do! but he helps balance things out. heartland would, dare i say it, actually get boring (the thought caused a stab of pain in my heart) if everyone just went on in their humdrum lives without any problems. which would happen if it weren't for chase, now that ashley's become a saint (well, she hasn't really become a saint but compared the way she was before, she is heaps nicer).
